We loved everything about Hotel Poco a Poco and would highly recommend. From the warm greeting to the very nice and spacious rooms, this is definitely one of the best places to stay. One of the best features is it's close proximity to shops, restaurants, and the supermarket. We drove but were close enough to everything that we never had to worry about parking on the hills and narrow streets as we were able to walk. It appears newly renovated and has beautiful property with flora and fauna. The pool is heated with a swim up bar. We had a blast with our toddler and there was a little childs playhouse with toys for him. Our only complaint was the restaurant was just okay and we would have preferred a buffet breakfast to be included instead of table service as it slowed down our mornings trying to get off to activities

This was our third Hotel whilst touring Costa Rica and without doubt is the best one yet. All the Staff were super helpful and friendly, the Room was really clean and food was delicious. I would strongly recommend this as first choice for staying near Monte Verde.

I spent 2 nights in this hotel with my family during a trip to Costa Rica. This hotel is located centrally in the small town of Santa Elena, in the Monteverde National Park area. The reception and staff were excellent, very kind and helpful. The rooms were basic, with adequate toiletries and a good shower. Beds were comfortable and clean. The pool area was very nice, with a warm pool and a Jacuzzi. The garden was beautiful. The restaurant had included breakfast where you ordered from a menu, plus a very good evening menu a la carte.

The staff at this hotel went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. We had a small issue with our room (not their fault) and they upgraded us to a new room and even sent a bottle of wine. ||Their covered pools are very relaxing and the bar makes fantastic cocktails with herbs from their own garden. ||The grounds are amazing. This is a huge property with a fantastic walking trail through the cloud forest for bird and animal sightings. ||Close enough to town to walk anywhere but far enough to seem private.

We stayed at hotel Poco a Poco for three nights during the tropical storm that devastated parts of Costa Rica. Despite all the rain we had a wonderful time. The staff was very accommodating and worked hard to fix issues that came up due to weather. The WiFi was not working in our part of the hotel and the staff did all the could to get it up and running again and were very apologetic for the inconvenience. The hotel uses what’s app to communicate with guests which is super convenient. The square & downtown are a short walk from the hotel. Just remember your umbrella or rain poncho. The highlight was making friends with Pedro. He was working the pool bar during our stay. He was so kind and makes the most wonderful and lovely drinks. He was very nice to our children and made their smoothies and hot chocolates with care as well. Garnishing them with colorful marshmallows. He’s definitely an artist when it comes to his craft of mixology. The indoor(ish) pool and hot tub were perfect for rainy days. Dehumidifiers are available and necessary if you want your clothes to dry.

Very pretty location. Breakfast at restaurant was good. Overall it is an ok place to stay, but I wish I was told that the area where one of my rooms was located would be under construction when. I made the reservation. This room was very nice but the AC had water pouring out of it so we could not use it most of the time. They could not figure out how to fix it and did not really show they cares about the inconvenience. Also, the second room in the reservation was first in an old dumpy room with no AC and no electrical outlets (convenient to use). They told me it was what my reservation had specified. The next day they gave us a newer second room with an AC and outlets. They said it was their fault and offered a free dinner. We did not accept as we had other plans already set. We will not be back to this resort.

We had a great experience here. It is beautifully landscaped with so many trees and flowers! Our teens loved having a pool and hot tub and it was especially nice to have a warm hot tub after spending the days doing rainy adventures. The included breakfast was delicious and plentiful. |The location was good in that it was walking distance to restaurants and shops but wasn’t right in the center of town. |One thing that would be really helpful here is to have an outside sink or faucet where you could get mud off your shoes. Because of all the rain, you get muddy when you go on adventures and we had nowhere to rinse things off other than the shower.

The hotel is pretty average. Our room, #45, had an incredibly loud metal banging both nights we were there. It was due to the wind. Glad we were there only two nights. The happy hour by the pool was really pretty bad. They had a menu written on a chalkboard easil and when you tried to order stuff on it the bartender would tell you that the menu is wrong (two days in a row). The bartender was the slowest on earth. When you did the happy hour or is a two drinks for the price of one, which wasn't bad at all $10-$12, however it needed to be the same drink. That wasn't written anywhere. You just had to figure it out. The pool area was sad. Very small and almost no area to sit in the sun. For the price, I absolutely would find something different. The only positive was that it was within waking distance to shops and restaurants. Not sure if it's always windy, but wow, the wind was constant and very strong. Clearly can't control that, but wasn't what we expected.
