We stayed for 3 nights in July but I wish we had stayed longer. This traditional small hotel oozes charm and we had a wonderful stay. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and had wonderful views of the harbour. Breakfast had a delightful Polish twist with freshly baked bread that was still warm and lots of tasty local options. Gdansk is a very interesting city and well worth a visit. There are lots of museums and we particularly liked the Solidarity Museum. However, the very best thing about our stay at this hotel was the exemplary customer service led by Magda on the front desk. Every hotel needs some one like her, she was warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Patrycza served breakfast and was charming and her English is excellent. Michael on the Front Desk in the evening was very helpful with booking taxis. Overall, we had a brilliant break and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Boutique hotel, luxurious villa magnificently located in the heart of the city, on the quayside. The rooms are bright, decorated (too much so?) and comfortable, with superb views over the canals and quays. But is it a 5*? NO Not only because the prices are not those of a 5*. No communal areas apart from the small entrance lounge which doubles as a reception. No outdoor areas (we're in the city centre). No spa, swimming pool or other luxury services usually offered in a 5-star hotel. On the whole, you are invited to enjoy your stay in your room and admire the view. The hotel undoubtedly owes its 5th star to the fact that it is quite unique and attracts VIPs looking for discretion, so the aim is to discourage guests who are too basic from staying there.

I loved my 4 night stay at the Hotel Podewils. I was warmly welcomed by Magda and she was helpful throughout my stay answering questions and making recommendations for Gdansk activities. I had great views of the harbor and the Zuraw. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the busy Old Town which I really liked, it's very quiet. I hope to return someday!

Hotel Podewils is a unique experience that money just cannot buy.|Your stay could not be more authentically Gdansk or more authentically Polish.|This is a deeply civilized place that offers ambiance, relaxation and precisely the sense of time and place that you came to Gdansk for! |You are likely to encounter personal service and attention that is increasingly vanishing from modern Europe, offered by staff who love this irreplaceable hotel and care for its guests.|The gorgeous old building is a Phoenix that echoes the story of the whole city.|Stop. Stand at the quayside outside the Hotel Podewils and gaze at Gdansk’s spires in the morning or evening and take in the serene beauty. Notice that the person serving you your coffee is the manager who often caters breakfast herself because she cant let standards slip. Take out the hotel photo album and look at the pictures from 1945. |You are getting so much more than a room. You’re staying inside Gdansk's story.|Yes, if you need a big hotel with round the clock amenities then please go find one of those instead. If you are vexed by having to walk 5-10 minutes to get to the bridge into the main town square, book a hotel on the other side of the river (and then listen to rowdy tourists carousing the night away outside your window).|This is a boutique hotel for people who can feel and remember their surroundings. |Ive stayed at this hotel again and again over years. Book this hotel not because you want what you’ve had before, but because you want these memories.

THIS IS NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL! I'm not sure this is even a 4 star hotel. We stayed in the best room. The room was spacious. The bed was very uncomfortable. The upholstery on all the furniture was old and stained (it was rather gross). There was no fan in the bathroom/toilet.... There was no shower in the room only a bath. The ceiling was too low to stand up in the bathtub to take a shower and there was no blind on the bathroom window so half of Gdansk could see you naked. Also as this is a heritage building there was no lift, which means we had to carry our bags to the second floor, this was not a major issue for us, but I would not recommend staying there if you need a place that is accessible. The location was great for us as the hotel was close enough to Old Town to easily walk there but it was in a quiet area. The view from our room was really good too. The main reason for this being a 2 star review, rather than 1 star, was that the lady who managed the place was absolutely lovely and very helpful.

A small, charming and old-school hotel. The design of the room is luxurious, but the past splendour has faded a bit, furniture and fixtures could use a bit of rejuvenation.|Fast WiFi and a modern streaming TV are available. The location is generally fairly quiet, although the road outside is cobbled, so the occasional car driving by can be a bit noisy. The location seems central, but due to the arrangement of the bridges, you have to walk a bit to get to the touristy areas. Staff is polite (as long as they don't mistake you for a non-guest...).

A perfect delightful friendly hotel, cosy, warm and in a perfect spot to explore the old town, our room was lovely and views of the canal and river. Very quiet part of the town. Buffet breakfast included fresh hot foods too. We will certainly return here and highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent location in the old city, brilliant staff and a great boutique hotel just as the pictures show. Bedroom was charming, clean and very comfortable. Continental Breakfast was extensive with cooked full english option (we did not try). Would stay again.

Yelp
Unlike our reservations in Warsaw and Krakow, which have been fully refunded in light of the pandemic, the Hotel Podewils (and hotels.com) have told us to stuff it in response to our request to cancel. They are keeping every penny for our planned 3 night stay, and wont even let us reschedule for next fall. Word to the wise: if you care about customer service and not getting screwed for failing to have anticipated a worldwide pandemic, book at a Marriott (full refund on a non-refundable rate) or thru Expedia (same) and stay in Krakow at the Hotel Unicus or in Warsaw at the Hotel Bristol. And never, ever use hotels.com. When I do get to Gdansk, you can be damned sure we wont be spending a moment at the Hotel Podewils.

Yelp
Best Hotel I've ever been to... (and I don't mean that ones with giant spa areas and miles and more as a Buffet...) Only 10 Rooms, which I think, are all different and a flashback in Time. No mixed style, no modern and antique chi chi combination, it's all old or well included (bathroom etc.) I simply adore everything about this Hotel, starting at the Lobby which is the first Lobby I like to sit down for a nice pot of Tea and Reading... the breakfast is also great and some things you can find on the buffet there give you an Impression what it is like to eat there for Dinner... (Restaurant is called "the River") It's also great. The staff in the Hotel is very friendly and professional but somehow as you stay there for some days it feels like a family Environment aswell. So all in all if you appreciate splendid service, old Interior, lovely little details as much as I do, you should definetly book some nights...
