Hotel Pontsteiger

stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, the rooms were a decent size and they was clean. Staff was really friendly and helpful. 25 minute walk from centre but it’s out the way quiet and peaceful also over looks the dock so it’s pretty at night. Will defiantly be returning

Our stay left us with mixed feelings. When we arrived at the reception, we were not greeted at all, which felt unwelcoming. The room itself was nice and clean, but unfortunately very cold. There was only a small heater, and the room temperature could not be set higher than 19°C. When we called reception about this, we were told to “just try the small heater,” which was not very helpful. The next day, however, a different staff member was much friendlier and provided us with an additional heater, which we appreciated. The view from the room was beautiful, but unfortunately it was very drafty due to the windows. Because of the cold air coming in, we had to keep the curtains closed most of the time, which took away from enjoying the view. Another issue was the ventilation system, which kept turning on very loudly and could not be switched off. It was disruptive, especially at night, and no one came to check or fix the problem despite informing the staff. Overall, for the price the hotel is acceptable, but due to the cold room, noise issues, and inconsistent service, the experience was not entirely satisfying.

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel for a 5 night stay in which we were quite dissatisfied with the sizing of the rooms compared to what we were shown online. We had booked a deluxe double with a river front view, we were on ground floor in which the view was nice. The space in the room was very tight which wasn’t what we had expected. The ceilings in the room were very unfinished and had damp marks around, our room personally had 2 neon paint splatters which made the room look quite dirty. The toilet was a small separate room at the room door with no sink at it as the sinks at the shower, the shower was very spacious though. The bed itself was very comfortable and loads of space. The fans at random times of the day and night would become very loud which would sometimes waken us even if the fans were off. The room was not to cold for being winter and right beside the water. The location of the hotel is good for central station and the main streets of amsterdam being no more than a 15 min drive, some quiet nice cafes near by too. Overall wasn’t a terrible stay although somethings were quite disappointing.

I checked in on January 31st at 4:30 pm. At the reception there was a slim, southern-looking man who responded to questions in a very disinterested manner and was also rude at the same time. I’m sorry, but when a young couple pays €180 for one night, you expect at least polite or at least respectful service. My girlfriend had problems with the internet and didn’t want to go to the reception alone — that says it all. The man managed to dampen the mood of our only day in Amsterdam right from the very beginning.

Nice! That actually sounds like a pretty sweet setup. Using the ferry to get to Central Station turns the commute into a mini experience instead of a chore. How to use the ferry: Pontsteiger → NDSM → Central Station Go to Pontsteiger Ferry Stop Walk to the Pontsteiger ferry terminal. Take the ferry to NDSM : Board the free GVB ferry (F4) toward NDSM The ride takes about 10–12 minutes At NDSM, transfer ferries Get off at NDSM Follow signs for the ferry to Amsterdam Central Station Take the ferry from NDSM to Central Station Board the ferry (usually F4) to Central Station Travel time is about 12–15 minutes Arrive at Central Station You’ll arrive right behind Amsterdam Central — super convenient. Total travel time: ~30 minutes Cost: Free

Check in is at 3pm, room wasn’t ready. We were told to wait 0.5 hours but ultimately this was close to 1.5 hours . Boyfriend was sick and had to use the bathroom, whilst other rooms were available. In addition, I was late at a Christmas dinner as a result of this. Very disappointing and unprofessional and similar thing happened here before so I guess cheaper (inside) rooms are just cleaned at the end of the day. More honesty and clarity in communication (not extending deadlines but meeting them) would have been better. In the room the shower gel was empty, ventilation was noisy and the door of the building to the outside was continuously open and couldn’t be closed (security issue)

Was here for one night stay. The location is quite good, not too far from Amsterdam Centraal. The hotel building is unique and is a kind of landmark. Bust stop is just walking distance. Rooms were super nice and cozy. Clean, neat and well maintained. Staff was quite helpful. However, the do not accept any cash mode of payment. Cafeteria at reception is very beautiful place to relax. Overall had a nice stay here.

Very disappointed in the hotel customer service, multiple issues staying at this hotel. 1) The electric sockets exploded and sparked - destroying my charger. Front desk said it was a problem with my charger and didn’t want to admit it was an electrical issue with their sockets. 2) Bath tub head came up and got the whole room wet when pressure came out! 3) Room was freezing, despite asking for someone to come put the heating, it was just cold air in the room. I paid well over 1200 euro for 5 nights and it was a rip off! I had better service at a 3 star hotel in the city centre. Don’t recommend staying here, save your money from a terrible experience!
