Hotel Porta San Mamolo

Booked as part of a package. Welcome was friendly, as were all the staff. Room was large and spacious with a small hallway separating the bedroom and bathroom. Bedroom window looked out over a lovely courtyard garden, which was also one of the areas available to use for breakfast. There were only 2 rooms on our level, with the only drawback being a temperamental lift - at least 4 times we had to call reception to get someone to access from the ground floor, so that we could get out. Good choice of items for the breakfast buffet - staff were very friendly and attentive. We felt that the hotel would benefit from a small bar, to enable guests to sit out and use the courtyard garden area for a quiet drink in relaxing surroundings.

After a shock at the check-in and a short dispute, everything went smoothly and nicely. |The hotel is well maintained and centrally located on a quiet street with two gourmet restaurants. |The rooms are very clean with quality linen. Breakfast is good and it can be taken into a small garden-orangerie.|The owner is very nice and happy to help.|Highly recommended this place.

Pleasant hotel, very clean and comfortable beds. Good breakfast served in the orangery. Staff generally helpful and pleasant. Slight downside was the fact that the air conditioning in the bedroom was very noisy and inefficient. The hotel is quite a distance from the station - best to get a taxi ; but well positioned for the centre

This was an excellent choice for our trip to Bologna.||The hotel is in a quiet location but still within the southern part of the old town/central core. An easy 10 minute walk and you're in the centre of everything in Piazza Maggiore.||Our room was lovely and spacious. We couldn't quite work out the heating but it was no issue really. It was up a couple of flights of stairs which wasn't a problem for us but there do also appear to be ground floor rooms and a lift in the main building.||We very much enjoyed the buffet breakfast in the conservatory and you can eat outside in the warmer weather. ||I would all the staff, without exception were friendly and helpful. The housekeeping too was of a very high standard. They helped us with our bags and ordered us a taxi when we left amongst many other things.||A very recommended base in this lovely city.

Breakfast was good. location is a bit far from the main square and the train station. be warned... rooms 101-105 are on the street front and it is VERY NOISY all night long with traffic and people coming and going. Also be warned room 101 has the illuminated hotel sign right outside the only window and there are no black out curtains to block the glaring light.

We were so fortunate to discover this outstanding hotel. It is a beautiful property, conveniently located in a quiet location but within walking distance of Piazza Maggiore. The staff went above and beyond, arranging for a parking space, and calling to make dinner reservations for us at two excellent nearby restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. We will definitely stay here every time we are in Bologna.

Comfy room, good bed, nice balcony. Excellent Osteria opposite. Quiet area. About 10 min walk into central Bologna

This is a perfect hotel to stay in Bologna. Very well located. Walkable to all major sites, but close to bus stops if preferred. Our room was a good size and very comfortable. Excellent breakfasts in a very beautiful garden setting. The staff were very helpful. Great restaurants and bars near by. We stayed 4 nights and highly recommend this hotel.

This is very reasonably priced hotel in walking distance of the centre of town. The rooms are very different and give a pleasant individuality to each one. The staff are very helpful and warm. Breakfast is excellent and served over a wide time period so no-one is left out.
