Hotel Porta San Mamolo

We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2025. |We were taken straight to our room when we arrived at 2:30pm. Room was comfortable, with extra duvets and pillows in wardrobe if we needed them. Safety deposit box also in wardrobe if needed. Decent sized bathroom with multiple clean towels for use - these were changed daily. ||We had a fridge for use too - brought our own wine back to the hotel and were able to take a corkscrew and wine glasses to the hotel room with ease. We emptied the mini bar and used the fridge for our own purposes then put the mini bar items back when we left. | |Breakfast was lovely - continental and then there was eggs and bacon if you wanted. Lots of fresh juice and tea/coffee on request. ||The only thing we didn’t like was the walls were pretty thin between the upstairs room so we heard a lot of other guests conversations!||Overall a lovely stay, just a 10 min walk from Piazza Maggiore!

We had a wonderful stay here! The staff is very helpful and accommodating - the rooms are cosy and clean - the inner courtyard is stunning - the location of the hotel is great as it’s a quiet area close to the city center - breakfast was lovely because you get to sit in this glass house or in the garden which is so nice if the weather permits. Definitely staying here again if we are ever in Bologna!

Nice hotel, 10 minute walk away from the busiest parts of bologna. In my opinion, the perfect spot. No glitz and glamour lobby with easy and quick check in. Hotel surrounded by residents, and are neighbors with 2 fantastic restaurants. Beautiful, green hotel grounds, some days I didn't want to leave. Rooms were clean and updated. Staff promptly fulfilled some needs and complaints that we had, and were very accommodating. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Booked as part of a package. Welcome was friendly, as were all the staff. Room was large and spacious with a small hallway separating the bedroom and bathroom. Bedroom window looked out over a lovely courtyard garden, which was also one of the areas available to use for breakfast. There were only 2 rooms on our level, with the only drawback being a temperamental lift - at least 4 times we had to call reception to get someone to access from the ground floor, so that we could get out. Good choice of items for the breakfast buffet - staff were very friendly and attentive. We felt that the hotel would benefit from a small bar, to enable guests to sit out and use the courtyard garden area for a quiet drink in relaxing surroundings.

After a shock at the check-in and a short dispute, everything went smoothly and nicely. |The hotel is well maintained and centrally located on a quiet street with two gourmet restaurants. |The rooms are very clean with quality linen. Breakfast is good and it can be taken into a small garden-orangerie.|The owner is very nice and happy to help.|Highly recommended this place.

Pleasant hotel, very clean and comfortable beds. Good breakfast served in the orangery. Staff generally helpful and pleasant. Slight downside was the fact that the air conditioning in the bedroom was very noisy and inefficient. The hotel is quite a distance from the station - best to get a taxi ; but well positioned for the centre

Breakfast was good. location is a bit far from the main square and the train station. be warned... rooms 101-105 are on the street front and it is VERY NOISY all night long with traffic and people coming and going. Also be warned room 101 has the illuminated hotel sign right outside the only window and there are no black out curtains to block the glaring light.

We were so fortunate to discover this outstanding hotel. It is a beautiful property, conveniently located in a quiet location but within walking distance of Piazza Maggiore. The staff went above and beyond, arranging for a parking space, and calling to make dinner reservations for us at two excellent nearby restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. We will definitely stay here every time we are in Bologna.

This is very reasonably priced hotel in walking distance of the centre of town. The rooms are very different and give a pleasant individuality to each one. The staff are very helpful and warm. Breakfast is excellent and served over a wide time period so no-one is left out.
