The location of this hotel is perfect for seeing the sights of Belem, it´s right in the middle of the historical part of town and located on a pretty square with a museum and cathedral. ||The breakfast actually surprised with how comprehensive it was, it had everything from scrambled eggs to fruit or bread rolls with cheeses and ham. ||There are only nine rooms and they all vary greatly, if you can, reserve rooms number 1 or 2. These rooms are pretty spacious and clasically decorated, the both face the square also (just be advised that the cathedral bells are pretty loud and love to ring every 15 minutes!). The bed was super comfortable, the hot shower was really nice and the mini bar was very reasonobly priced. ||The only real downside to our stay was the staff - they knew absolutely nothing about the city and couldn´t advise us on anything from restaurants to things to do - we had to figure it all out ourselves (though luckily the hotel does offer pretty speedy free WiFi). The receptionist staff were also really unformal (just wore their own casual jeans and tshirts) and seemed a little too laid back for my liking. ||||Pros: ||Great location (most places are walkable)||Rooms had such beautiful character||Breakfast definitely set you up for the day ||Super price||Fast free WiFi||Onsite pizzaria ||Gay Friendly! ||||Cons:||Staff were pleasant but should be knowledgable of Belem||TV has very few channels

The hotel offers an excellent cost-benefit, as you can walk to some of Belem's attractions, like the Ver-o-Peso, Estacao das Docas, and old fort. However, the neighbourhood is not one to be walking around in the dark. The hotel offers all the right amenities, though the wi-fi is not good. Due to my flight times, I missed out on the breakfast, so I can not comment that. However, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms clean, with AC working. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms and bathroom does need some more attention, as far as renovation, or at least some fresh paint and attention to smaller details, like apparent plumbing, and poorly corrected litches. All in all, good cost benefit, but if you are fussy with details, skip this option. I just spent the night, and walked a little nearby, so it was just right for me.

This hotel is next to the cathedral and close to a fort. It is in the old part of town but close to the markets and the Docas (Docks) area. The latter is the place to catch river tours and good for eating and drinking. We were told to take care in these areas at night. The rooms are interesting to say the least. Beds are comfortable. Some staff helpful but not all. Breakfast ends at 9. On the first morning we arrived at 08.45 and all the hot food was finished, eventually scrambled eggs arrived. Second morning arrived at 8 and all the hot food arrived at 08.45! Maybe some management needed. 2 lights in our room did not work. Generally needs some maintenance. Nice outside sitting area upstairs.

Old colonial building in old town. Approx 10 rooms on second floor (one stair).||Rooms old style, but well equipped and clean. Ok wifi througout hotel. Some common sitting areas outside the rooms.||Good restaurant with lots of pizzas and much other a la carte. Very good breakfast. Helpful and attending staff - one of them even speaks a few words English. They use Google Translator if necessary.||The big and beautiful Cathedral a Se is Next door. Belling starts 06am.||In the end - look around when moving in the market and streets even at daytime. Dont flush any valuable and probably leave rucksack safe in hotel.

The hotel is located next to the cathedral de Se and nearby the daily Mercado. We never felt unsecure when leaving the hotel by foot, although we read and were adviced by other tourists that the neighbourhood of the Mercado is not that safe. ||The hotel itself has a colonial style and nice lobby (veranda outside with plants)||The rooms are clean and have airco. You can not compare it with the big hotel chaines like Ibis, Marriot, but it is good value for money for those who can adapt to other cultures. The only minus is the fact that one person at the reception desk could communicate in english. So if you want to arrange a tour it is pretty difficult to do this via Google translate.

The hotel is really well located, near many touristic spots, but this is the only good thing about the place. ||We stayed 2 nights @ room #8 and it was simply horrible - the worst bed in my whole life, weak shower, very poorly decorated room (I am definitely not looking for design, but one could do better than putting a scrap of wallpaper to cover an electricity board and one could definitely renew the painting from time to time...) and completely unregulated air conditioner (it would either work at minimum temperature or not work at all).||During the second night, the air conditioner decided not to switch off (and when it did, it decided not to switch back on) - because of that, they moved us to room #2, which was more expensive (they didn't charge us more, as courtesy) and better decorated than the other, but the bed was EVEN worse!||Breakfast is merely ok and the staff didn't even offer to help us move our luggage from one bedroom to the other, even though we were moving because of a problem at the room

The big deal there is to stay in a 250 years old building full of history. The rooms are really big and comfortable. A good tip for a health-giving sleep is to stay away from the rooms next to the hotel entrance. Just across the street has a church where they play its bells in a extremely laud way.

This a place you can stay with out a problem, it is well located and you can walk to the market and the cathedral is right there, just don't try to find something to eat on monday, you won't find anything, not even in the Hotel, the room was really nice and with a lot of space, the common areas are really nice, the staff could be more welcoming. I really loved the place.
