While the rooms could use a bit of updating, our room was well appointed, with comfortable bedding, safe, fridge, tv, air conditioning, and full bathroom. The location is outstanding: close to the beach and river, and nestled among all of the highly walkable neighborhoods. Breakfast was table service and had enough choices for us. Downside was hallway noise. Day or night, you'd hear every hallway conversation and hear every door opening and closing with a loud thud. WiFi tended to be a bit slow, but still robust enough for us to stream shows on our laptop.

If you want to stay in old town PV, in a very friendly hotel without the extra frills that cost a whole lot extra, but starts you each morning with a very good breakfast in the sunny rooftop dining area, then this is the place for you. We really enjoyed our two week stay!!!

This has to be the nosiest hotel I’ve stayed at in years. Completely ruined the start of my vacation until I switched hotels. Constant noise from the road until midnight and again early the next day. Paper thin walls, you hear everything. Made me wish I’d never come to Mexico. If you want quiet go anywhere else.

Value for money. The room and location were excellent. The staff was very polite and accommodating

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Porto Allegro. Location and service were great! Breakfast was included. Small dining room on the top floor, you can order anything from the menu and the food is made to order except for the beef stew, which was delicious. We had a king size bed room and it was spacious, clean and had a small walk out patio to see the ocean, mountains and church. Air conditioning was great, because it was very humid, and a ceiling fan above the bed. Nice size refrigerator and you get 2 bottles of water a day. The only bad thing is the bed is too soft but everything else was great! Thank you Porto Allegro!!!

Google
Great location to El Centro, great breakfast as well. I had a problem with one employee (most of them were great) and contacted the owner last April. Sadly, I have not had a reply and therefore am writing a review instead. The rooms are quite nice but lack a balcony; I also had to remake the bed I was in (set up for infants with a waterproof sheet). Otherwise, good!

Let me start by saying that the location was perfect, close to everything with views of the city, beach and surrounding jungles.|Walking distance to basically everything and food galore.|The staff were friendly and the breakfasts every morning was a great start to the day.|I'm glad I stumbled upon this gem of a hotel, which by the way, is pet friendly, so that's also a definite plus in my book.|I honestly wouldn't stay anywhere else in Puerto Vallarta.|It might be a little outdated but so am I so it was perfect for me.

Positive: Location, breakfast included every day. Negative: Had problems with tv remote working properly, guy came up and pretty much indicated we were working it wrong. Shower had about a minute of hot water. Guy ssid shower head must be plugged up. REALLY

Yelp
Very quaint and friendly hotel. Offers a free hot made to order breakfast. Very centrally located. Will definitely stay there again.

Yelp
We are return customers and so are almost all the people we talked with during our latest stay. The location is perfect, just north of Zona Romantica. The rooms are clean, decor is up to date and the staff is friendly l. We arrived 2 hours early and asked if they would mind our luggage. Even though they were full, the front desk manager was able move us to another room that had been cleaned and we were checked in and unpacked in minutes. The breakfast buffet, served on a rooftop terrace, consists of Mexican breakfast favorites, fresh fuit, plus omelets and eggs to order. Of note, the bed has a memory foam topper. It is comfortable but sleeps a bit hot. We usually sleep with the windows opened, but opted for the AC. We will be back.

Yelp
Beware of this low cost hotel!!Don't fall for the "VIEW" photos! It is not worth it! The staff are lifeless, the elevator is so small I was scared to use it, the gym was the same, the room was HOT, breakfast was not authentic Mexican, the rooms have NO PRIVACY because you can hear conversations all around you!! You can't have guests over !! When I brought a guest over, I was HUMILIATED AND EMBARRASSED IN FRONT OF THEM. I would've gladly paid the fee but the way Patricia and the bellman treated me was UNFAIR and RUDE. I recommend paying the extra dollars and staying at Playa Los Arcos hotel or the Grand Fiesta Americana All Inclusive Adults, those hotels have friendly alive welcoming staff and the hotels are VERY FUN! The only thing positive in Porto Allegro Hotel was the young man upstairs serving breakfast. He was super nice and friendly. He should go work at the Grand Fiesta Americana! He Would probably get paid more! My lesson learned was that paying for a cheap hotel can almost ruin your whole trip! Don't book here!!

Yelp
We booked through Hotels.com and had super easy check in. A footman carried our bags and also showed us how to use the air conditioning and tv. The room was clean and in good repair. The breakfast is made by ladies as if in a home kitchen, with a very attentive server. The food was authentic, despite what the other review said, but if you're not ready for stewed beef and beans on the side, you may be upset. The hotel staff also saved us when we had a mishap checking in at another hotel. They were quick to accommodate us and help us, even though our previous reservation with them had ended that morning. Is this place the fanciest? No. Is it still very good, hell yes. I'd recommend this place for folks on a budget who want a great location and who want to be treated very well.

Yelp
Great location and the staff at this hotel is great. Only 3 years old and I'm actually afraid that it will gain in popularity and not be available next time I go to PV. Breakfast staff is also great and work hard.

Yelp
Our second stay here. We love it because it's centrally located in town. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. Friendly staff and breakfast is served every morning beginning at 0730. The breakfast is great - not a stingy continental breakfast of day old pastries - but a full hot breakfast with many choices. My favorite thing here is the fresh papaya. There is one very slow and very small elevator so we take the stairs. Water pressure is good and the showers are modern. It is the perfect boutique hotel for those who do not like to sit around a resort and want to explore the town.

Yelp
For the price, this is as good as it gets. I stayed for 5 nights and paid less than $50 USD per night - that's a steal! LOCATION - This was my favorite aspect of the property. The hotel is technically located in El Centro but is right at the Rio Cuale that separates it from the Zona Romantica. Two blocks from the hotel is the Malecon boardwalk which will take you up and down the entire stretch, and you can be at the Town Center within 5 minutes and Playa de los Muertos (the most popular beach) within 10 minutes. It doesn't get any better. ROOM - I was in a two bed room on the fourth floor (technically the fifth). This is no Starwood property, but there was ample room inside and it was clean. The beds ended up being really comfortable. There is a nice-sized TV that gets many channels as well as an in-room air conditioning unit and a window that doesn't really offer up much of a view. It's all marbled floors including the bathroom, which unfortunately smelled a little funky. There is no enclosed shower and the stall is right next to the toilet (which didn't flush well). The closet area is a really a dresser that's connected to the bathroom. No safe so be wary of that. If you need a iron and board, you can request one from the front desk. AMENITIES - There was a very basic gym on the ground floor as well as two computers for use. Free wi-fi though so you might not even need that! On the fourth floor, there is a jacuzzi and small outdoor patio area that mostly overlooks El Centro with a great view of the mountains. Included in the price is a small breakfast buffet everyday. I have to say it did not impress me much, especially the stale-tasting waffles, but the chilaquiles were decent and the service was friendly. In the room are also two bottles of water which housekeeping will refill. You can also request beach towels. All in all, I would definitely stay here again if solely for the price and location. If you're a traveler not dependent on resort amenities and looking for a central place to explore the area, I highly recommend Hotel Porto Allegro!

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel based on the reviews and pictures on Booking.com Here is what I wrote to the manager. I got no response. I checked in to your hotel on Wednesday June 27th for a week. I checked it out on line and the rooms looked very nice. However, I was given room 402. Through the dining room and behind the kitchen. It looked nothing like the pictures. The shades were broken and water stained. I was told by Nostradamas not to leave the ac on 18 for too long because it would freeze. I barely slept that night because of all the ac units on the roof. I'm sure you know what the view is. Why would you put anyone in that room, especially during slow season? It was obvious the hotel wasn't full. The next day I saw the lower floors and the other rooms. I asked to be moved. Nostradamas was able to give me a different room, but no offer of assistance to move my bags. I have been coming to Vallarta for 15 years. I have never stayed in such a horrible hotel. The receptionist with the curly hair doesn't even look up from his computer when I walk by. The housekeepers do a good job but they seem afraid to talk to the guests. The breakfast lady was very friendly. I don't understand why your staff would make a guest feel so unwelcome. Fortunately this is my last stay in a hotel as I have purchased a property and will be living here full time. I will tell anyone who comes to visit NOT to stay at your hotel. Thank you for your time. I will be submitting a review to Booking.com

Yelp
This is a great hotel for the price and location, which is in Zona Romantica near the beach. There is a good air conditioner in the room. Beds are comfy. TV has a good variety of stations. There is a safe in the room. Bathroom is small but has modern clean sink, shower, toilet and tile. Toilet takes some effort to flush. There is a hairdryer. There is free coffee for the room upon request. Two bottles of water are provided daily. Make sure you have enough towels in the bathroom. It is off season and I am paying $38 per night with free breakfast through Expedia. The breakfast is okay. Not great. People are accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
