I had the absolute worst experience at Portobello Beach Hotel in San Andrés. I made a reservation directly through their website, prepaid the full amount, and had all the necessary confirmation details, including my reservation number and proof of payment. Despite this, when I arrived at the hotel at 10 PM—after notifying them in advance—they claimed they had no record of my reservation. To make matters worse, the hotel was completely full, leaving me stranded.||The staff was utterly unhelpful and dismissive. Even after showing them all the proof of my reservation and payment, they offered no solutions and refused to take any responsibility. Essentially, they stole my money without providing the service I paid for. Their attitude was indifferent at best, and it felt like they didn’t care at all about the inconvenience they caused me.||As if the administrative nightmare wasn’t enough, the hotel itself looked run-down and filthy. The lobby area was poorly maintained, and the overall state of the building gave the impression that cleanliness and upkeep are not a priority here. Frankly, I was glad I didn’t have to stay there, but I’m furious that I lost my money to this scam.||Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel at all costs. Their lack of professionalism, refusal to honor reservations, and the deplorable state of the property make this one of the worst travel experiences I’ve ever had. There are far better options on the island where you won’t have to deal with this level of incompetence and dishonesty.

This is an average hotel located on the beach of San Andres. This is a very small hotel and it is clean. It has a regular breakfast included. The rooms are small to average size. They DO change your towels daily. But be careful of leaving and stains on the sheets or the towels because they will charge you. Again, this is a good a hotel for a few days only.

Love the vibe and how welcoming the front desk was as soon as we got there. She was very informative and helped out as much as she could. Food was amazing and the kitchen staff are so friendly and welcoming makes you feel like your at home. Loved the beach right out front easy access and friendly locals and the music with seeing people dance just felt so great a sense of community. The room didn’t have wifi which was a bit misleading when booking, it only worked in the lobby area/dinning area. Room tv didn’t work it was staticky and sound wasn’t good. There was no minibar which I was kind of hoping for. You couldn’t change the temp in the room so it was a bit annoying having to come from the heat to the freezing cold all the time (rather ease into it)

The only thing that impressed me about this hotel was it topped the list as the worst hotel I have ever been to (and all I do is travel!) 1. We arrived at 9:30 pm and had to wait an hour for our room because it had to be cleaned (checkin time is 4:00 pm) 2. The view from the room is the side of a another building, there is only one power outlet available on the far side of the room, the wifi did not work, and there was no soap for the shower (but three bottles of shampoo) 3. at checkout, they charged us for stained towel…the towel had some makeup on it that would easily wash out. They only supplied one towel to us for our two day stay (they did not clean our room or change towels one time) Do yourself a favor and find another hotel. The location is good but San Andres is very small and the location of all hotels is good.

The hotel IS right on the beach. Our experience with the staff was very nice; staff was attentive and friendly. Food was good. The only downside of our stay was the facilities are in dire need of some maintenance and updating, but it's not like it's crumbling to the ground either. In general, it reflects the old adage / cliche... You get what you pay for.

Aweful, Do not stay here. I am a gold member hotels.com member and was absolutely disgusted in this hotel. I actually left and having pay for 4 night after the first night. When you check in was greeted by the local drunks passed out vomitting and a stench of urine on the footpath immediately out the front of the hotel. When you check in the staff require you to pay up front. There is good reason they do this because they no you won't pay if you haven't. Terrible hotel. It is next door to an all night local bar. The music goes until 4 or 5 am. Don,t expect any sleep there. The wifi is only in the foyer. Be careful leaving in the morning, there maybe broken glass and bottles on the footpath outside left from the drunks outside your bedroom window the night before. Staff don't speak English. Was ok for me because I speak basic Spanish, but you would expect that hotels would have at least someone. After I left I went to a far superior hotel up the road with nice room, beautiful breakfast with a view, pool friendly staff, spoke English at the check in desk, wifi everywhere. This hotel was slightly less than what I paid here. There were numerous other issues from construction in the foyer to hair in the bed sheets. Seriously do not stay here.

The worst customer service ever! I try to go to the beach with a towel and the manager told me I was not allowed to go out with it.||||It is a family house transformed into a two stars hotel. Still a house, not a hotel.||||You have to smile a lot, if you want to ask to the manager for something you want. She is always in a bad mood.||||Air conditioner problem during night. Nightshift front desk clerk does not know how to control air conditioner system and the main problem is "Air conditioner control panel is located in the front desk. He accidentally turned it off, and he could not turn it on. Bad for me!||||In the other hand, it is very very cheap $40 per night.||||It is well located in the downtown, right in front of the beach with a lovely view of "Johnny Cay" key. This is priceless.||||Breakfast is great and it is included in the rate. Restaurant personnel are very pleasant and friendly.
