Small, modern hotel in historic building. Very friendly, helpful staff. Easy walking to all of the popular neighborhoods, whether you are looking for tourist-oriented or local-oriented, all you need to do is walk out the door. Rooms are modern but tight due to the historic building architecture. The included buffet breakfast should have something for everyone: from high carb bread eaters to zero carb meat eaters, you won't go hungry.

This is a very elegant hotel. Rooms are very spacious, super clean and beautifully decorated. Staff are incredibly helpful. The hotel's location is excellent close to the major squares, connections to attractions, restaurants and top shopping streets. Breakfast was of a very good standard too. We were complemented with sweets and champagne for our anniversary. Well done to all the staff. Definitely highly recommended. Thank you for your hospitality and a wonderful stay.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location. We had a premium room which was a good size with plenty of storage and a couple of easy chairs. The television is in the mirror which although looked good wasn’t the best viewing, but we didn’t mind as we just used it for YouTube music. The bathroom was excellent with a bath/ over shower and a separate walk in shower, double sink and a bidet. The Rituals toiletries is a very nice, high end touch. I was a bit confused about the large window in the shower which looks in to the room. Even though there is a blind it’s not very private and I think perhaps frosted glass would be better! Our room was spotless but housekeeping was a bit of a hit and miss at times. We stayed for four days and our room wasn’t cleaned once before 5pm, which is inconvenient when you’re been sightseeing all day and want to relax before dinner. I would expect to come back early evening and the room to be made up so it felt a bit intrusive for housekeeping to appear very late in the afternoon (especially when they come back 30 mins later for the turn down service!) We did receive complimentary pastries on our final day which was a nice touch. All in all a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel.

I want to write the warmest, warmest, warmest recommendation for this hotel!! Unfortunately, we stayed here for only one night a short stop between flights on our way back home. Such a shame we didn’t stay longer, because we absolutely fell in love with the city… and this hotel WOW, what a hotel!! From the very first moment, after a very long flight from the US, we were welcomed by the staff with genuine warmth and big smiles. They were there for us for absolutely anything we needed. We were given an early check-in and a late check-out with no extra charge, and all with a smile! The hotel itself is charming, spotless, and perfectly located right in the city center, close to everything. And once again the staff, the staff, the staff!! Every single interaction with them truly warmed our hearts. Even though we stayed for just one night, when we returned to our room in the afternoon we were surprised with lovely treats from the hotel such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture that really made our day. Breakfast was excellent exactly what you need, with outstanding product quality. One of the staff members was even using a thermometer to check the temperature of the food that level of care says it all. In short: don’t miss this hotel! We truly hope to come back again.

Excellent hotel. Excellent location in the tourist center of the city. The hotel staff is very kind, the breakfast is delicious and accurate, the rooms are neat and organized properly. Every day we received a small and tasty gift, for example a bottle of cherry liqueur, chocolate, and the famous Pastel de nata.|I read reviews about the noise of the subway but after returning from a long day of walking, shopping and experiences, the noise of the metro is minor and not disturbing. Guests at the hotel who plan to spend their vacation in their room, may be disturbed by the muffled noise of the metro. I look forward to the next time I come to stay at the hotel.

From the moment we walked in I knew this was going to be a great choice. This hotel although not huge certainly is large on service. Nothing is too much trouble I had a sore neck that afternoon, I had a special neck pillow delivered. I would say they went well beyond what was necessary and certainly added that special touch. Please don't let the area put you off it is very central with some great restaurants very close and very safe to walk around we did not walk around after dark though. Lovely breakfast in the mornings with a personal touch, drinks at the bar if you wish and a very large hotel next door which is also part of the establishment for rooftop views and meals. Our room was superb we could not fault it at all beautiful, embroidered towels and pillows everything you would want. We stayed at the front at a higher level, and the train did not bother us at all. Would I stay here again? most definitely. Thank you for the delightful stay and all the helpful information the staff gave us. Hotels in Europe tend to be more expensive but we got what we payed for.

This was such a lovely stay. The hotel location was perfect - very centric and right next to the metro station, but it didn’t feel loud or anything. The room was big and comfortable, the bathroom was massive, and they provided a lot of nice extras like bathrobes and slippers. The breakfast staff was very accomodating. They even brought us a gift from the front desk the first night with their local cherry liquor.

We wanted somewhere we could easily walk from and access public transport and this place was perfect. It's a really stylish hotel, with a lot of little details that make it a bit special. Robes and slippers provided, along with Rituals products - we accessed our room at 1pm which was great, following a Porto tonico in the bar (with some lovely little biscuits). Massive bed and great TV in the mirror which was pretty cool. Good selection at breakfast, with a selection of coffees and teas to accompany the continental and hot food. Staff were great, even had a turndown service - lovely pastel de natas on the last evening. Really is a great location for everything - lots of bustling shops and restaurants within a stones throw. Would definitely recommend as great value for money.

This an excellent hotel in the center of Lisbon. Walking or near all forms of public transportation. Good sized rooms, nice bathroom and a cool mirror TV. We had breakfast included and it was perfect. Front desk was very helpful. Chocolates on the pillow at night. I would stay here on my next visit.

Close to giving it 5 stars but a few things holds it back. Let's start with the good. The staff here is all friendly and accommodating. Everything is very clean and well kept. The stay includes breakfast which is nicely done with many options to select from the buffet. The room we had was big with plenty of storage and closet space. The bathroom was amazing and HUGE. Double sinks, giant circular hot tub style tub which normally I'm not a bath person but couldn't pass it up. Also a full shower which was very nice. Bed and bedding was high end and comfortable. They have nightly turn down service and constantly leave little gifts of port or sweet treats along with chocolates. Sounds good right so what's holding it back? For starters one reason I was attracted to the hotel is their mention of their onsite wine cellar and service but it's not open for business only special parties. Yet they still publicize it as it's functioning. Also they promote mentions of a rooftop bar but this is actually at their sister hotel at the property next door. All minor but a tad annoying when these are things that attract people to stay here. The AC works but not really how it should. The room has a thermostat but regardless of what you set it at it doesn't seem to actually adjust anything other that being on. I mentioned this to the hotel twice and they said they checked into it and it's working so apparently that's their norm. The biggest issue was that there is a train line that runs near the hotel that lightly shakes the building and rattles into your room. The hotel is solid and the rooms are fairly soundproof but the line runs 24/7 and was a bother for someone who sleeps on the lighter side. It's part of being in a city hotel but it's a detail that can't be overlooked.

We loved this place. The location was great. Maybe a block away from the noise so close enough but yet quiet enough. We got a premium room because we wanted a big room. We were on the 4th floor. Room was very nice. Cleaned every day super nice. Little chocolate given on turn down service and a pastel de nata on your last night. Each person we interacted with was super nice. My only tiny complaint was they give you a discount to their sister hotel next door for their rooftop bar. But you can't use it for alcohol. Ummm. It's a bar. Outside of that everything else was nearly perfect.

I stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved the hotel! The rooms were spacious, the staff was friendly and the service was amazing. Since the staff was informed of my birthday, they provided Porto wine and champagne on the first night of my stay. Additionally, they were happy to store my luggage on the last day as I went out sightseeing before leaving Lisbon. The breakfast was not as described, with very few to none vegetarian options, so that can be improved. Overall, great location and stay.

We showed up, the AC was broken, we were told we could get complimentary drinks, then a woman who clearly worked there came over and said food and drinks were complimentary given the inconvenience. Then as we went to leave to find a new hotel, after missing 2 hours of touring time, we were stuck with the bill for food that we were just told was complimentary. Overall operationally the hotel is not well run. We should have been called and informed in advance and their staff should have properly communicated with each other.

Hello, I want to post a complaint about our experience at Portugal Boutique hotel. My husband and I checked in at the hotel on Thursday, May 2nd evening and we were assigned room 214. We had a late morning flight back to US the next day and were looking forward to a good nights sleep prior to our long flight. We were out most of the evening and when we got back to the room around 10:30 pm and tried to settle in for the night, we realized the room would rattle and shake every few minutes due to the metro train right below us. We thought the train would stop running by 11 pm and decided to put up with it. However, this rattling went on till 1 am and we barely slept that night Assigning us such a room was completely unacceptable .the hotel staff gave us this miserable room very well knowing it had this issue . This was beyond some street noise and even a sound sleeper would not be able to tolerate this earth quake like rattling every few minutes We had such a good time in Portugal otherwise and sadly the experience at your hotel ended the trip on a bad note So far, my complaint letter to the hotel has not elicited a response from them

Great little hotel with amazing service (almost too attentive, I felt like they were paying attention to my comings and goings and it was almost too much how they opened and closed the door for me every time I came and went, but really not something to complain about). I got a room upgrade so I'm not sure what a regular room would be like, but mine was ridiculous. Almost so much that it was gaudy, but not... just luxurious. There was a huge circle mirror with a TV inside the mirror (although the only free English channels were news channels, but lots of options for movies to buy). In addition to a large waterfall shower, I had a huge round bath tab (not a jacuzzi, just a tub, but still great... I'm normally not a bath person, but I definitely took a bath). My only complaint is that I left a "do not disturb" sign up because I was only staying two days and did not feel I needed my room cleaned, and preferred not to have someone come in, yet they still came in and cleaned my room when I was out (since they were paying attention to my comings and goings). Location was great though, right by Rossio Square. I didn't make it up in time for breakfast (yes served until 11 am, do not judge) but I'm sure it's great. I don't know what people are talking about the street not seeming safe.. I walked back by myself after dark both nights and felt totally safe.

This hotel is mixed on the location. It is centric, but the street where it is located does not seem to safe. When we arrived, the taxi left us half way on the corner street and we had to walk with our luggage until the bell boy (very nice people and service) saw us. My real concern recommending this hotel, is the safety issue.... it is one street off to where we would have liked. IT is downtown and close to many touristy areas... beware, if you want to go walking to Bairro Alto or Chiado, there are LOTS of "hills" to walk to... also the streets are uneven, so it makes it that much more difficult to walk. So, if you are fine walking up streets to get to "nicer" areas, then this hotel is fine. Now with the hotel, front desk very nice and accommodating... our room was not ready until 3 and they kept our luggage until then... we decided to take a walk waiting .... once we coud get our room, we had a nice room, very modern and purple details across... the bed was very comfortable as well as the duvet... pillows were also on the good side. There were several places where to charge your electronics, so that was a plus. The tv is in a mirror like setting which was also cool... as for the bathroom, we had a jacuzzi which we did not use and a separate shower which was quite good... amenities were excellent. Towels were great as well.... so all in all for the hotel and room, great, location was our main concern. Breakfast, very good period. Good service, good quality. Too bad this hotel was not located one or two blocks west..... Enjoy

If I could give this hotel a thousand stars I would. The hotel was beautiful, the staff were amazing and the food was excellent. I had my birthday there and they gave me a cupcake with a candle for breakfast and sang Happy Birthday to me. That night there was sparkling wine and chocolate truffles in our room when we returned. They answered all our questions and cheerfully greeted us each time we came in. Thank you for the beautiful time we spent with you.

Beautiful and slightly dangerous. This hotel is quite gorgeous but staying here caused a lot of inexplicable anxiety. And I hope I can leave here in good health and one piece tomorrow. Front desk : Need improvement. When that piece of solid wood came crashing down their attitude was oh well sorry tough luck. Your room is locked and not ready for you on the second night oh well tough luck sorry. Location: Convenient but sketchy Room: Rumbles with every tram, that is 1x/15 minutes and it's not just the noise you can physically feel the ground vibrate Amenities: This is the only 4 star hotel I've been in (and I've been in quite a few) that does not offer tea or coffee in the room without a charge..and no water except the first night Housekeeping: My changed room was promised to me at 2PM and it was not ready at 5PM so while I was adjusting jet lag. I had no room. In room safety: A piece of solid wood came crashing down from 6 ft above almost on my person. Staff said could be maintenance person forgot to lock the panel... panel was fine last night and I've had no maintenance requests which warrants the unlocking of the panel. The good: Bed is comfy. Breakfast was amazing with wonderful dining room staff. And honey served from a real honey comb. It's beautiful but just.... feels very uncomfortable.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Portugal for 4 nights. We absolutely loved this hotel! There is a doorman ready to greet you at the entrance at all times. He helped us upstairs with our luggage and walked us through our room, showing us the safe and mini bar. The front desk staff were super helpful, providing us with a city map and nearby recommendations. There are two markets nearby where we were able to get bottled water and some snacks. There are many souvenir shops and cafes in the area. Hard Rock, which is the pick up point for many excursions, is a 5-7 minute walk. Breakfast was included as part of our stay and included delicious coffee, scrambled eggs, pancakes, a variety of pastries, fruits, vegetables, and more. Our room faced the back of the hotel so it was very quiet at night. There was a mini balcony to step out onto. There is also a small backyard area downstairs where you can sit.There was ample shelf and closet space in our room for us to lay out our belongings during our stay and be comfortable. The bathroom had two sinks, a large tub, and a shower with a strong rain shower head. There is also a blow dryer for your hair (the good kind! Works very well!). We were also able to leave our luggage downstairs after check out and pick it up later in the evening. We would absolutely recommend this hotel!

We stayed at Hotel Portugal for 4 nights during a recent trip to Lisboa. Pros: - great location in downtown Lisboa, next to Rossio Square, central to most activities - breakfast included, with a variety of cold and hot items (fruit, cereal, eggs, cheeses, breads, juices, coffee, prosecco for mimosas) - polite and helpful staff - clean hotel/room - safe in the room Cons (and reasons for less stars) - our room wasn't made until about 3-4pm on a daily basis, and rooms were small - walls are thin (we could hear our neighbors TV) - AC/heating system is set to either only heat or only cool. We visited the first week of April and the temperature ranged 50-80 degrees Fahrenheit. The AC in our room wasn't working so we called the front desk, and learned the system was set to heat and they had no idea when the cooling would start again. Our room was unseasonably warm and uncomfortable because of this. We tried sleeping with the window open but there was so much noise from outside. Definitely a negative

Hotel Portugal in Lisbon is a wonderful choice! They had the best customer service from beginning to end. The location is right in city center and their breakfast was awesome! I sent them an email beforehand to let them know it was my husband's birthday and we would prefer a quiet room. They fulfilled our request and sent us a bottle of champagne as a complete surprise! Thank you Malfada and Diana!!! Highly recommend this hotel.

Great location. Hotel busy and only able to book double room with breakfast. The room is a good size, well decorated, plenty of storage and large bright bathroom with oversized shower with rain head. The lobby and public spaces were well thought out. The breakfast space is open and plenty of room with a good selection. The breakfast staff remembered how we liked out coffee and told us when a fresh pan of eggs came out. Those things count. The front desk staff and doormen greeted us each time and wished us a good day with important suggestions. Yesterday was my wife's birthday and the hotel sent a gift to the room. Well done and well appreciated. Will be back.

Great location, great breakfast buffet. The staff are very helpful and friendly, helped me plan a bus trip to Fatima. Location is right in downtown with easy walk to castle, Tram, Hop on Hop off buses as well as main pedestrian walkway. If you want, Metro close by as well as Main trainstatio for further trips(has Starbucks!). Many great places to eat. Only draw back is room was a little small for 2 adults w 2 large suitcases. Bathroom was spacious!

We stayed at the Hotel Portugal for 3 nights in late May. This an outstanding boutique hotel. The excellent service started before our arrival. I messaged the hotel,in advance, that we wanted a quite room on the top floor (the metro runs under the hotel) with queen bed and shower. They must pay attention to these requests since we got a top floor, spacious room with queen bed and a shower and tub. The breakfast spread is extensive with great coffee service. They serve until 11am which was most appreciated since I sleep in after a long flight from the west coast of the US. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and all speak fluent English. An equivalent New York or San Francisco hotel would cost $500 per night.

First of all, I think the location of this hotel is really great since it's next to the tram 28/15 main stop. If you don't mind a little uphill, it's convenient to walk to Castelo San Jorge or commerce square or Bairro-Alto district. Aside from that, the rooms were really nice and bed is very comfortable. My only real complaint is that they don't have coffee maker in non-deluxe rooms. They provide an umbrella in each room, which is great since Lisbon rains a lot. Its next to hotel mundial, which has a restaurant and roof top bar worthy of a visit. Other than that, make sure to have their complimentary breakfast, which is very nice and filling with a lot of choices.
