I’ve stayed at Hotel Posada de Roger in Puerto Vallarta several times, and I’ll probably return. The reason I’ve been there is because of the fantastic fishing available off the coast of Puerto Vallarta, and this area (Romantic Zone) is easily accessible and a safe place to stay. Romantic Zone is (unfortunately) home to many trans people, gays, lesbians, and similar, but if you can live with that—and their (sometimes) very colorful drag outfits—it’s a place that radiates coziness and joy. You hear a lot about Mexico, but it’s safe to stay here. There are absolutely no problems in this neighborhood, and everything is within reach: supermarkets, bars, restaurants, beach, fishing, walks, culture (galleries, etc.), and happy people. I’ll be back next year for another fantastic fishing trip. That said, Hotel Posada de Roger is really cozy with great service, nice rooms, air conditioning and fans that work, and really good internet. It’s also very centrally located in the Romantic Zone and easy to get to and from.

This hotel is such a gem! The affordability made me skeptical, but I was so impressed. The hotel is older but has all the Mexican charm. Our one king room was small, but definitely adequate, with a large closet and dresser. The air conditioner worked well and quickly. Housekeeping is present throughout the day constantly cleaning the property. I never saw any dust or cobwebs. There was some noise later into the Saturday night from adjacent restaurant/bar, but it was not loud enough in our room (210) to wake us. The front desk will give you a hair dryer if you ask and also offer a mini fridge with a deposit. There is a common area full kitchen with a lovely patio on the third floor. You can store food/leftovers in there if needed. Don’t miss the bakery across the street- delicious pastries and code for super cheap!|This was a getaway with my husband. It was convenient to many restaurants, bars, and a 5 minute walk to the beach. We will definitely return.

I really enjoyed my stay! The staff were very friendly and accommodating! My room, while not updated like the ones in the pictures, was SUPER clean and comfortable! Location is excellent and I love the story behind the hotel and that it is still family owned and operated. Great courtyard and pool…and I loved Roger’s artwork! Will definitely stay here again.

Sweet, Simple, and So Worth It!||Hotel Posada de Roger was exactly what I needed for my Puerto Vallarta getaway—affordable, clean, and smack dab in the middle of all the action. No, it’s not a luxury resort, but if you’re looking for charm, comfort, and location, this place delivers big time.||The staff? Super friendly and clearly take pride in keeping the hotel spotless. The room was simple but squeaky clean, the pool was a perfect little oasis to cool off, and the lush courtyard full of flowers made it feel like I was staying in a tropical garden.||I took an Uber from the airport (pro tip: cross the pedestrian bridge first!)—super easy and only about $15 with tip. Once I was settled in, everything I wanted was within walking distance: food, fun, coffee shops, and yes, plenty of eye candy. I visited during Pride and felt totally safe, welcomed, and—let’s be honest—entertained. Let’s just say there were no shortage of offers for “massages” and “company” from the handsome gentlemen strolling the area. If you know, you know.||There’s a bakery across the street—grab a pastry (they’re amazing), but maybe skip the coffee unless you like it weak and watery. Plenty of better brews nearby.||Bottom line: Hotel Posada de Roger is a total gem. If you’re not high-maintenance and want to stay somewhere with heart, soul, and a great location, this is your spot. I’ll definitely be back.

Stayed 3 nights in a "suite with kitchenet" (rm 418). Room has its own private patio with loungers and umbrella. Views of the pool (very nice for late afternoon cool off) and surrounding mountains. Location on 4th floor also helped quiet some of the street noise, but note location is in the heart of the romantic zone, where clubbing goes on all night. Hotel is convenient to shops and restaurants. 3 block walk to the beach. So much to do in old town PV. This is the perfect location to explore the neighborhood. The staff was friendly and welcoming, very willing to assist with luggage storage, calling a cab, all the little service extras which add so much to the experience. Would definitely stay here again.

Google
I've stayed at this hotel a few times now, and still love it. Very stylish, their courtyard is beautiful and a very peaceful place to hang out. I booked a suite on the 4th floor, which has a full sized refrigerator, two-burner stove and a large Talavera-style drinking water dispenser. The room was very quiet, even over the weekend in the middle of the party zone For the price and location, this place is hard to beat. I was allowed to check in a bit early since my room had been cleaned, but they will also hold your luggage for you. Very well-maintained and managed place.

Very cute small hotel.. Wonderful staff. Great location about 3 blocks from the beach with many nearby restaurants. Nice pool area. Clean tidy rooms but not fancy. Cleaning staff are great. The price is very reasonable. I will be back soon.

I have never in my life been in such a beautiful hotel. Completely surrounded by colorful art and plants everywhere. The workers are kind and very helpful and we felt right at home. They pretty much treated us like close friends. I'm bummed we had to leave! There's also a community kitchen so you can get clean ice and water and cook your own food if you don't feel like going out. However there is stunning food every block so it's hard to not go enjoy it all. Waaay better than any fancy tall resort or condo. 100/5 stars! Can't wait to come back next year

Yelp
It's at a great location but we chose a room primarily to sleep and the beds were terribly hard and pillows were very flat. We were in pain the entire trip because of the bedding. It was so bad it unfortunately overrode any benefits the location provided. This place almost ruined our trip.

Honest J.

Yelp
I could've given four stars, but nothing stands out and there was nothing spectacular to mention. The rooms are what you would expect for the price that you pay. It's inexpensive and inexpensive looking/feeling. The staff is as nice as expected in any travel destination. They have the basics, toilet paper, shampoo, packets soap to wash your hands. But again, nothing you wouldn't expect a basic hotel to provide. What is important for any gay travelers out there is, it's not really a gay hotel and I don't know that it's gay owned any longer. Matter of fact, I didn't run into any other gay people here at the hotel. All of the people that I encountered were Families that included heterosexual couples and straight couples traveling without children. Every time I went to the pool, it was full of kids. Not at all what I would expect for a small boutique gay place. It is however, near a lot of the gay bars and walking distance to just about everything, including only four or five blocks to the beach.

Yelp
I can't remember ever being so sad to write a review. This has for years now been my hotel in Puerto Vallarta, While far from being new it has charm. There are flowers every where, it is clean, and service has always been great, and for me the location close to the beach and surrounded with great restaurants is just about perfect (no beach view but all the above and great prices) the wifi has always been a slight issue going down for a bit each trip. Still I think this will be my last trip. For one service has gone way down, when I broked my room 6 months out I emailed requesting ground floor( i have a disability that makes stairs difficult) I never heard back, I emailed again shortly before my arrival, still no response. When i arrived they had me on an upper floor up two flights of stairs and were fully booked so they couldn't move me. So not only did I have to navigate the stairs each time coming and going but for some reason the room had a key problem often meaning I had to go back down to the office and have key reprogramed, the night guy liked to lecture me like it was my fault (never happened before to me either here or anywhere else.... Still I will miss the small but quaint rooms, all the flowers, plants, and the friendly staff I've always seen in the past but no longer see.

Yelp
All the rooms in this cute , little Boutique Hotel are so unique !!!! I feel like I am in a movie set. The pool is not all that big, but it does the job. I think this hotel suits , single, and older travelers - BUT , there is NO elevators. The main floor lobby is connected to Tucan's family restaurant. Best food ever. Always super busy !!!! Even if you don't choose to stay here, walk thru the courtyard lobby, it is a work of art !!!! Right in the heart of Old Town .

Yelp
The room was a dump You have to go downstairs to get water out of water bottle. No tissue Bad pillows. They supply hair shampoo in a bag. Bars on windows. Only one room attendant cleaning the entire motel/hotel. For average cost of $34.99 per night I would expect it. But we paid $179 per night for 8 nights total. Air conditioner blows directly to the bed and only two thin sheets on bed and pillows and small square blocks. Neck aches the entire trip.

Yelp
This is a very basic hotel with all of the essentials you need. It even has a community kitchen for guests that like to cook their meals. Cute courtyard. Best things are the a/c works, hot water and walking distance to beach, lots of restaurants and shops. It has a small pool but we never used it. Families used it and made lots of noise but management shut them done at 10 pm. We may stay here again based on our experience.

Yelp
I honestly didn't have any complaints, Excellent location Within walking distance to everything! Get up your butt and go! There is small pool at this location! I would stay here again! You cannot beat the price!!

Yelp
An easy 5 stars. We only stayed 1 night but had we been in the area longer I would have been happy staying longer. Check in was quick and easy and the staff was super friendly. The hotel itself is super adorable. So much foliage and beautiful flowers! For the age of the property it's super well maintained and you can tell they've gone through and rehabbed it at some point. We had a cute little gift waiting on our bed as well. Most importantly it's clean. They also have a lot of services including late check outs, safety deposit boxes, beach towel check out, and they'll call you a cab if you need one. I heard great things about the adjoining restaurant but didn't get to try it personally. The pool always had people around so you could tell it has a hip little spot. The location is great too. It was just a few blocks from the beach, close to tons of restaurants and shopping, and a Starbucks across the street. The only downside for me was that the beds aren't terribly comfortable. I have a bad everything really so it wasn't the most comfortable nights sleep but my husband didn't have any complaints so it's probably fine for those less picky than me.

Yelp
Absolutely my favorite place when I visit Puerto Vallarta! Super friendly staff. Rosie is always so very kind and helpful. All the the people here that make this place so special truly go out of their way to be sure you have an enjoyable stay. The location rocks! It is serene and quiet. I cannot wait to return and highly recommend Hotel Posada de Roger to everyone! Rooms are quaint, clean and very comfortable! Book this place if you see a room available! They sell out often- :-) cheers!

Yelp
My experience at this hotel did not started out well. On our first day, we got a room on the first floor with the crappiest water pressure that felt like I won't be clean even if I tried to shower for an hour. After several complaints, the front desk clerk did try to get a maintenance person to check on it but couldn't fix the problem. Once I said that we wanted to check out the next day and find another hotel, the clerk finally wanted to work with us and moved us to the 3rd floor and the water pressure in the shower was like night and day!! After day one, we had zero complaint. Overall, if you're on a budget and wanted to stay centralized to everything, this place is decent and will fit the bill.

Yelp
Had a great time at the Pasada de Roger. Great location a lot of high and low eateries near the hotel. Bus stop not to far away from the hotel to get around PV. Staff friendly and helpful. The negatives no elevators anyone with orthopedic problems should not stay here, in fact Puerto Vallarta old town is not orthopedic friendly. My had a major step to get to the bathroom. Just a quirk. I would stay here again without question.

Yelp
My home away from home when im in p.v. the staff are amazing so friendly and outgoing and attentive to the needs of the guest its very safe and secure.the rooms are spacious and comfortable and kept clean daily great water pressure and hot water and good air conditioning. The pool area is clean and oh so refreshing after a long hot day. Also its nice having a great breakfast restaurant attached to the hotel great food and great vibes and great prices. The location is in the heart of everything bars, restaurants and stores, laundry services, and 2 blocks from the beach prices are decent and cant be beat for what you get.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I ventured off from the condo we rented in Bucerias. For just one night in Puerto Vallarta, I'll admit that we went cheap... all we wanted was a bed and a shower. After all, we were going into town to for an adventure... ok... fine... we wanted to get drunk. So, we agreed that $40 US was probably not going to get us much in the way of luxury. We had very low expectations. Frankly, we just needed a place to sleep off a day of drinking, and, having experience on the subject, decided it best to seek frugal accommodations for an evening we probably wouldn't remember anyway. Queue moldy sheets. Queue moldy shower. Queue broken stucco falling from the ceiling. Queue us gathering our things and taking a cab back to bucerias at 2 am. This place is disgusting. For $40 what did we expect, you ask? Not much. Which is why I have no problem standing behind this post. Do not stay here.

Yelp
Looking for an incredibly affordable, quaint, convenient hotel in the Zona Romantica in Puerto Vallarta? Well Hotel Posada de Roger is definitely your best bet. Located just a few blocks from the beach, and within steps of some of the best shops and restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, Hotel Posada de Roger couldn't be more perfectly located (Freddy's Tucan, for instance, is an amazing breakfast restaurant right next door)! The Zona Romantica has a more authentic feel than the Hotel Zone, further north, and offers a more real experience of Puerto Vallarta, and Hotel Posada de Roger makes it completely affordable to experience Puerto Vallarta's charm. The ambiance is second to none, with bright Mexican decor, rooftop pool, and an absolutely beautiful courtyard filled with greenery, trees, and even a fountain! The rooms are kept clean and, though sparse (this is definitely not your all-inclusive type of resort hotel), they are quite comfy. The sheets/"comforter" are very thin, but it is Mexico after all, and it is quite warm, so it works well for staying comfortable at night. The bathroom was bare bones but got the job done. No room service, but there is wifi and the staff is incredibly helpful. Taxi's come by regularly and stop at the hotel, and the front desk will call you one, which will arrive within minutes, any time you need. The main entrance is gated at night, and you have to buzz someone to let you in, but that made me feel safer, as a guest, knowing the hotel was secure and there was always staff on site. And, while I've read in many of the reviews here that it is loud and noisy, once my door was closed and the A/C was running, most, if not all of the noise, was drowned out. Basically, I fell in love with Hotel Posada de Roger. I will DEFINITELY be coming back, and I encourage anyone visiting Puerto Vallarta to book here, as well!

Yelp
I love this place! Price reasonable and such a beautiful hotel, nothing fancy, rustic and just what you need to relax, close to restaurants and just steps from the clubs

Yelp
We stayed in a condo around the corner from the main hotel. Lovely condo with high end kitchen, bathrooms, pool on the roof, and washer/dryer. Quiet. Great views. 24/7 security. Elevator. Gold standard staff. Reasonably priced. Easy walking distance to everything.

Yelp
First, brass tacks - If this is your price range, book it! We stayed for about $30 a night towards the end of the season and for that, it was perfect. Hotel Posada de Roger oozes Mexican quaint, without being kitchy. The art around the hotel is actual art, not mass produced hotel art. During my 7 day stay I never stopped admiring the huge tree in the entry way decorated with lighting fixtures. I will say big cages with birds are lovely to look at and not wonderful for practicality with the early morning squawks. What it lacks in luxury it makes up with authenticity. The rooms are clean, which for me is worth it's weight in gold. Nothing here seems dirty and staff took excellent care of the rooms each day. The bed was hard, the bedding was nothing to speak of. While you couldn't hear your neighbors through the brick walls, you could hear the street. This hotel is NOT for light sleepers, and don't expect to sleep in. I don't know if this has to do with the time I stayed but there were copious of fireworks and what sounded like gun shots which turns out to be car backfiring. The Wi-Fi in room was shotty, even when it was working it wasn't fast enough to stream - don't expect to be watching netflix. It works well in the lobby! I wouldn't say rooms are cozy or relaxing but they get the job done. When it comes to location Posada de Roger is a solid win. Surrounded by delicious eateries, a stones throw from the beach and just a lovely area of town. We walked everywhere with ease and always felt safe. There are always cabs outside so if you want to zip to another area in town it's no problem. For the price it is a genuine find.

Yelp
What a great location! The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms are super clean. I enjoyed the pool right outside our door. Water was hot. Maids did a great job cleaning our room every day. I appreciate the hotel has a free safe for your use, pool towels (need to put a deposit down), and will call you a cab to the airport. If you need a quiet room, you might want to consider another location. When I booked online, I asked for a room located in a quieter section. When I arrived, the place was so booked, there were no other rooms. Fredy Tucan's was located right below our room, so we could hear staff fill up the ice machines, move furniture, customers talking, etc. Oh well. It was just an incentive to wake up much earlier and start the day! We went during high season and paid $200 Canadian a night via Expedia. I found out later if you call them directly, you'll get a better price. If you go during less busy months, the price for the room is much less. $70 and even less in the summer.

Yelp
We spent five nights at Posada de Roger. The location cant be beat - just 2 blocks from the beach and the entire neighborhood is loaded with dining and drinking options. We had a room on the third floor near the swimming pool - our room was simple but we were only sleeping there so we didn't want or expect anything too fancy. We had cable tv with a few american stations, plenty of hot water in the shower, there was air-conditioning in the room but we never used it - the ceiling fan was enough to keep us cool at night. The hotel also offers wireless internet and were were able to get a weak signal in our room but it worked much better in the courtyard Even though our room overlooked a busy street and we were right by the pool, when the windows and doors were closed it was actually fairly quiet. The hotel doesn't have room safes but instead they have a secure room with safety deposit boxes where you can store your valuables. There is also a very good and inexpensive restaurant in the hotel that serves breakfast and lunch. I don't know about their lunches but we ate breakfast there twice and really liked the food

Yelp
I loved the Hotel Posada de Roger. It was perfect for my friend and I during our three day stay in PV. Super close to shops, restaurants, and the beach so you can't ask for a better location. The rooms are cozy but clean and a great value for the price. Beds were comfy and water pressure in the shower was good. The courtyard and grounds are just beautiful, with all kinds of potted tropical plants and a beautiful tree overhangs over the courtyard. The restaurant directly under the hotel/ next door, Fredy's Tucan is quality and serves a great American breakfast.
google avatar

Tina T.

Yelp
This is a Mexican-style hotel, although it was started by an American. If you love the old town Zona Romantica in Puerto Vallarta, you can't beat this place. It's smack in the middle of all the best restaurants, and only two blocks from the beach. Our room is air conditioned (very important in the heat of September) and everything is very clean. The swimming pool is small, but very adequate, since not too many people are using it. The entire hotel is covered with flowering bushes, a nice fountain in the courtyard. Room rates are very reasonable, and they give the third night free (at least this time of year) so we stayed for 7 nights, paid for 6. Sheets and towels are very clean, and if you leave a deposit at the front desk, they give you excellent pool towels. I love the art everywhere in this hotel. When rooms are empty and open while they're being cleaned, we go around and look at them just for the art. No, it's not the fancy hotels in Northern Vallarta, but if you come here for the Mexican experience, this is the place. We've come here for three years now.
google avatar

Jeff J.

Yelp
This is my go to place in PV. I was first recommended here by a friend. Its clean, cheap and has a awesome location on a street with good food. Its close to the bars and the beach. For breakfast Freddy Tucan is in the same building.
google avatar

david l.

Yelp
Great service; very clean, nice hotel in the middle of the action. A bit of charm just a couple of blocks from the beach. Had a room street side but room was incredibly quiet at night. If you want to enjoy PV but stay away from the antiseptic resort life, check this place out.
google avatar

Holly B.

Yelp
This hotel is a great deal for the money if you want to stay in this area of town. It is not fancy, just the basics. We stayed in a small room in third floor. Very clean room. Staff here is friendly and helpful. Plants are all over in interior courtyard. Pool is small and relaxing. Within walking distance of beach, restaurants, and bus stop. My complaint is the noise level, particularly at night. Windows were glass slats and door had large gap at bottom so noise came into room easily. There is a nightclub down the street that plays VERY loud music until about 5:00-6:00 AM! I had earplugs which was fine for traffic or people walking past my room but I could still hear the bass of the club music which kept me up sometimes at night. Eat at least once at Fredy's Tucan next door if you stay here.
google avatar

Liam O.

Yelp
I'd seen the place on the last visit. It's the perfect blend of location, true authenticity-of-place and a low budget. Clean. The air-conditioning is worth everything after a day out and about in the humidity. Best location in old part of city. My housekeeper Rosa made the room immaculate each day. Wi fi blinked out one day. Annoying. If I ever go back to PV, it is my home. ( Tip: don't get a room near the pool - loud, drunk folks I had to ask to quiet down...)

Yelp
Love this old Mexico feel hotel with its roof top pool, garden feel, centrally located with spacious rooms, friendly staff, clean and close to the beach and restaurants. I have stayed here for years!

Yelp
this is day 3 of 7 here at the hotel. my whole family loves it. it's basic but very nice. perfect location. sweet staff. and only $67/ night!?!?. awesome for the price and location. would definitely stay again.
