This is one our son's favorite stays of all time. He loved the pool, swimming in it until it closed many nights. The restaurant had live music one night and that was fun. The beach is just across the street and I wished we had more time to spend there. We walked a couple blocks and found this small restaurant for breakfast that also became our son's favorite. All the staff was friendly.

The check in was fine, but we were assigned a room which was still completely left dirty by the previous occupants. The new room we got was also really dirty, but we were too tired to complain about it. The view and the location of the hotel couldn't be better, with the beach being right in front of the hotel and close to all the shops/restaurants of the centre. 😀 Also the restaurant was really good and friendly service, but not included.

False advertising. Pool closed. Filthy balconies. Very poor communication. We booked this hotel for the pool and bar — that was the main reason. They emailed us at 4:47 PM the day before check-in, saying the pool was closed. But in that same email, they admitted construction had started 7 days earlier. So why wait to tell us until the very last minute? Compensation? Worthless. Early/late check-in (we didn’t need), beach chairs for 2 people (we were 3), a “room upgrade” that looked exactly like what we booked. No breakfast. No pool. Just a basic room in price of the room with swimming pool. Balcony overlooked the construction site, covered in pigeon poop and nests. A/C units filthy and rusting. Hotel shows no respect for guests. We were misled and disappointed. Never again.

It’s a calm, beautiful, and peaceful hotel. In the morning, a wonderful breakfast was waiting for us. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommended.

We needed an extra night on the island for transportation reason and this seemed like a reasonable option. We would suggest finding someplace else. The first room was a ‘suite’ but it was musty and had visible mold on the furniture (310). We moved to a non-suite (315) and the smell was difficult until we found the urinal cake hanging on the side of the toilet and placed it outside. We confirmed with the front desk that these rooms were on the new buildings but she kinda said that with air quotes like we shouldn’t try other buildings. The balconies are difficult to use because they have a significant amount of pigeons droppings on them. In 315 we have pigeons living in the wall behind the split unit air conditioner. The pool was decent but no shade to speak of during the day. You share the infinity edge with pigeons that are taking a drink and enjoying the pool too. The front desk was doing their best to find better rooms but we figured the birds would go to sleep at some point and we’d rather deal with that than another room with who knows what other issues. They have ROKU TVs in the room, but the WiFi is only for common areas so the ability to stream is best case spotty. Location is decent with the beach across the street and plenty of food options nearby. No need for a golf cart or taxi if you stay here. Close to ferry and plenty of options nearby. If you are a little discerning and don’t use urinal cakes as air fresheners, or keep pigeons as pets in the walls, you may want to find another location. If they are going to embrace the pigeons everywhere, they should consider putting up plexiglass to watch the pigeons in the walls and maybe convert to eco-tourism. Our go to locations weren’t available for this extra night so we were interested in trying a place that had decent reviews to see if it would be an option for future trips. This one isn’t on the list of options at any point in the future.

Google
Great location. Room is ok. Pretty basic, but extra towels and close to beach.

Google
Room was huge, lovely and cool, shower barely got warm though but I suppose that wasn't the end of the world as it was so hot. The pool wasn't the cleanest but you don't go to isla mujeres to sit by a pool, you go to the beach! Playa Norte is the best beach and is a 5 minute walk away. The local bars and restaurants are all within a few mins walk from this hotel. We had a great stay. Basic, clean, but what else do you need when you plan on being out all day/evening.

Google
First, it’s a great location. Literally across the street from the beach and down the street from the ferry. The rooms are perfectly suitable- clean but not new. The hotel itself is very airy and charming. Pretty quiet overall. The pool was large and clean but not new. And the bar and restaurant in the front were very convenient and have great ocean views.

Yelp
Only good thing about this place is the discount we got for booking early. No hot water for 2 of the 4 days. Surface mold on the wall above the bed and where the bath towels were laid. Front desk could care less about our stay. Trash lying around the pool. Bird shit on the loungers. For *$&# sakes, take a hose & wash it off!! Spend a little more & go somewhere else!!! Terrible.

Yelp
A friend referred us to this hotel. The location is great, walking distance to North Beach, all of the great restaurants and night life and shopping on Hidalgo Street. In past stays on the island, we rented a golf cart and due to the location of this property, did not need to do so. Great location. The pictures on the website are correct and an accurate depiction of what we experienced, except for cleanliness. Our mini-suite in Building 4, 1st floor, appeared as advertised. We found several bugs crawling on the floor in both in the bathroom and the near the bed. When walking to the room, we noticed dozens of new mattresses, covered in plastic, that we assumed were being replaced in the rooms. Our mattress was new, extremely hard, and very uncomfortable. The room was hot, with the ac on set at 18 degrees (Celsius)/65 degrees (Fahrenheit.) The restaurant/bar closed at 5pm on Wednesday night, with last call for non-alcoholic and alcohol drinks at 4:45p. The pool walls needed a good scrub and the lounge chairs/tables needed to be cleaned. The pool water was clear and was comfortable. We understand that the price point of this hotel is on the lower end and had low expectations of amenities. The bugs, hard mattress, and less than cool temp in the room, left us with poor impressions. We will not be staying here in the future.

Yelp
While most of the staff was very nice, this place is pretty dirty. Don't let the advertisements and photos on their website persuade you, this place is a dump. Best part of this place was the AC.

Yelp
Posada Del Mar Stayed in a ground-floor room for a week and we never had hot water or water pressure! Staff came by to fix the problem... unsuccessfully. Tried again the next day... but they were again unsuccessful. Room also had a horrible musty smell. We were told we would be contacted to switch rooms, which never happened. Tried to talk to the front desk person but she apparently couldn't do anything about it. Asked to see a manager but they were unavailable and unreachable, with no follow up. Save your money, this place is really bad!

Yelp
I am currently staying in here in the hotel has very bad issues with mold, green mold, black mold Felt like I was going to die. Checked room 2- also found black mold and declined Third room only mold in bathroom, took it, moved in, cleaned the air conditioner filter and shower with bleach I found on a cart, and hope I survive So no, I would not recommend it, nor would I stay here again Front desk was nice to let me look at other rooms Location is awesome, the beach is nice, but after my experience, still a no go

Yelp
"Pinguinos Restaurante" The guacamole was great, tasted very fresh! My fiancé ordered the filet de pescado relleno de mariscos. The rice unfortunately was cold, but the relleno was cooked to perfection. The wait time did take long, at the time there were only 3 tables including us. Margarita was a bit bitter, but wasn't too bad. The view is awesome, beach front. Got a little breeze going through the outdoor eating area. My sister ordered the shrimp cocktail, which took forever to make. The cocktail was very lemony/sour and thick, but good flavor. Wait time not the greatest here.

Yelp
The waitress stole my phone. I thought the phone was misplaced, so I asked the waitress if she had seen it. She said no. Then pictures taken on the phone started uploading to my computer. It turned out to be the waitress.

Yelp
This is for the beach bar in front of the hotel. The bar is right across the street from the beach. They were playing the American Football games and had a few tv's to watch. Good place to get out of the sun and people watch

Yelp
If Yelp allowed no stars or 1/2 a star, that would be my rating. We're here for 7 nights during high season so paid $140 per night, inclusive of tax. We're in the "new" building 4 yet believe there could be mold given the room and bathroom are both constantly damp. I had a bout with cold and stuffy nose with congestion and believe that mold could have been the culprit. Despite the fact that it's their top level room, superior king room, there is nothing superior about it nor does it have a king size bed. Very basic room with a tiny balcony and two double beds. Basic linen and cheap quality towels and some are worn out. Bathroom is extremely basic and water splashes all over the walls and floor when taking a shower. No hairdryer and very basic bathroom supplies. Got a hairdryer after three days with a refundable deposit because I guess they think that guests would steal a $5 beat up hairdryer! Same rule applies to the room safe. $100 refundable deposit to get the key. Toilet leaks and can keep you up if not a heavy sleeper. Pool area is just ok. Staff is completely oblivious and rude. Stay away from this place as there are many more places that are much much better for the same price or slightly higher. We're stuck here for a week because we booked online and our credit card was already charged. The rest of the island is great with great beaches and restaurants.

Yelp
I'm gonna give this place one star because If ur looking for a budget NO FRILLS place this maybe for you...My friends and I travel a lot ... I work in the travel industry and wouldn't recommend this if you can't handle...rude front desk staff... stained bed covers... dead bugs in your room... broken & missing locks on doors.. No security on the property... and even a wondering homeless woman on our floor walking around... we meet her on the beach the next day and even asked if she was staying here and she said no... lol...So save your money and find sum thing else... the only thing this place has is location... close to everything... but you pay for it... Our first room was discussing... See the photos... we upgraded $15 a day extra to 3 floor in the main building.. The a/c worked no like the ground floor room they gave us...another $15 if you wanted to upgrade to a newer building Which our friends did but it wasn't much different then ours... If you choose to stay here ...I warned you... It could be nicer if the manager cared about the run down appearance... I was told he lives on the property but growing mildew on walls in the hallway and a front desk staff that watches TV all day Shows he really doesn't care ... We won't ever be back!

Yelp
Wouldn't let my dog stay there. The location is ideal and the pool is ok, but the rooms are dirty and our service we received was less then adequate. It was my first and last stay.

D F.

Yelp
YOU NEED TO NOT HAVE ANY EXPECTATIONS about this place. The owner does not do anything above the bare minimum. DO NOT PAY EXTRA FOR THE "SUPERIOR" ROOMS. They are all the same, and the standard rooms have a bigger balcony. The front desk staff are USELESS (especially the fat guy who is always eating), but the location makes up for their deficiencies. The restaurant is pretty good for breakfast and the bar closes very early, but there are numerous places nearby. This was our second stay here and we went back with LOW EXPECTATIONS and we were not disappointed as they met and exceeded our expectations!

Yelp
Construction on the pool (which of course isn't advertised when you book) so we got vouchers for free beach chairs.. That are free just a few yards up.. And the staff kicked us off the chairs just before sunset. Showers have mold so I never took my sandals off. Close to the beach is just about the only thing I loved about this place. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Hotel is ok for the money, great location, rooms are semi clean, old sheets, and towels with stains. The air conditioning works great. There is hot and cold water. The front desk staff is really rude. Cannot get a single front desk person to say hello or good morning... Maids are the friendliest, Which is why I tip them each day. The pool needs paint and some TLC... They do vacuume each morning pumping the waste water into the sand on the hotel grounds, resulting in a green substance on the sand. Note to keep kids off the sandy area and playground. The hotel rules state no animals, but they do allow dogs and people do not clean up after their dogs, again note not to let kids play in sandy playground area... Restaurant opens and closes whenever, bar only open till 8pm. Also front desk says we can charge bar to room but bartender says no have to pay him. Must be running his own deal there?? The beach chairs are not complimentary cost is 200 pesos. pool/ beach towels are available at front desk but never available before 11 am. If you are not expecting a lot this is a good spot

Yelp
I'm staying here currently and it's pretty awful. The rooms are dirty. The bathroom door is filthy and the handle has something caked onto it. The rooms are old and very run down. The walls are so thin, my awful neighbor plays his music loudly and I can hear it. Our room didn't have a "do not disturb" for our door so we asked reception for one and they said they would bring one to our room. No one ever did. I had to take one from an empty room that was open next to ours. We put the "privacy please" sign on the door, and later on in the day I could hear the maid flip the sign over (because you can hear everything) to the "service please" side and then she started banging loudly on our door. How rude! I prefer not to have my room cleaned due to the risk of people stealing stuff. Also, the AC isn't that great. Even with it on, it is still very muggy. They don't even provide pool towels without putting a deposit down. Employees are just sitting at the restaurant talking and watching TV. I would never come back!!!
