My family and I loved the culture of this hotel. Dry clean, the mattresses were comfortable and the air conditioning was perfect. Beautiful pool! The restaurant was friendly but the food was could be better!

We didn't stay in the hotel but we had a meal in the restaurant and it was fantastic!!! Very tasty and the service was prompt. Also we'd like to thank Manuel (waiter) who was very nice, attentive and very friendly.

It was sport of bad. To begin, the pool was not operating. The water was greenish with algae, the manager said it would be fixed, but it was not even touched.
The tv picture was very grainy in a room, when we shared that with the manager she became defensive and rude. There was an older lady who seemed to be in a higher position who was even more rude. They wer.
They reluctantly changed my party to a new room, but even when the hotel was practically empty and the move could have been to a similar room or better they never apologetic whatsoever, but confrontational and bothered as a result the moved them to the smallest room possible. Un this new room the air conditioning unit was not working properly, but to avoid more problems we decided not to say anything.
The rest of the staff was very polite and friendly. The amenities in general were as expected for the price, except for the aforementioned. We know this is a source of work for many employees, and we feel sorry for them, but we are not coming back.

If I had the option, I'd give the hotel a 3.5. This is probably one of the best places to stay, with its convenient location right at the town center near the river and restaurants. I like the architecture, with its historical and Caribbean colonial feel. The room is well decorated with a strong local flavor and generally clean. However, the place can use a good makeover. It definitely has the potential to be a great hotel with personality. It is also a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper.

Well, the town is a hidden gem. My mother was originally born there.the last time I visited the town was 15 years ago. To my surprise the town is still the same. Placid, slow, colourful and traditional. Dona Lala is the best hotel in town. I rented the best suite for $80 canadian dollars. The rooms, furniture and decor are a little old, but the place is clean and the owners, super warm and friendly. The food delicious and the place just quite. ||I was there to attend my sisters wedding. A small intimate lunch gathering. I organized and arranged the decor and activities. I speak Spanish, so doing everything was easy. Very accommodating. The food was great and I believe my sister paid around 1200 Canadian dollars for the meal and drinks for 25 people. I think it turned out great. Music included. ||I am not sure how they deal with English speaking guests. I think travellers would need to speak basic Spanish to get around. The whole area is charming and magical. This is not the Ritz in Madrid, so do not expect a luxurious experience. Overall it was good and I would return just to get away and scape to this place, where time seemed to have stopped. I hope this review helps you.

Nice old style hotel. The biggest hotel in this beautiful Tlacotalpan. |Interior rooms are a bit dark. Needs an urgent remodeling. Air conditioning leaks in most rooms, the rooms facing the street are spacious but noisy. ||The restaurant has the best food all over town. Great service in both.|The owners are always there and are accommodating with ones needs.||Visit the gift shop. Will find lots of nice handmade things to buy. |

Really enjoyed 3 nights stay here. Great rooms-spacious, clean, bright, ours had a beautiful river view, great showers, comfortable beds. We loved the hotel restaurant for breakfast and lunch-excellent ceviche, fish, eggs, fruit, coffee and friendly, fun service. All around a very pleasant stay, would definately go back again.

I stayed there for 3 nights, the hotel is located in front of the dwarf. Has a great view and the rooms are very simple but nice. Just lovely. Their restaurant is one of the cities best. Tlacotalpan is a jewel next to the Papaloapan river and a beautiful quiet colonial city. Rates are very affordable and service is very good. A must
