Hotel Potala

They helped me organize everything so I could get back in time for the funeral of a family member. They were beyond helpful and made sure that I was taken care of. I will never forget this. Best staff I ever encountered. Especially the night guard will always have a special place in my heart.

I was there a few nights 5 years ago but still keeping good memories about the place and about Dev, the receptionist that help me with the stay on my first time as backpacker in Nepal. Sometimes the hotel is quite noisy due to a disco in the same building but if you have any concern with your stay they do they best for making you feel comfortable. Missing them and the service, best option for staying in Thamel at a pretty adjusted price.

The staff were nice, the room is comfortable. The price is cheap. The place is strategic near the main road of thamel. But the location is next to the bar. The music always on all day long. There is a restaurant inside the hotel. There are a variety kind of menu and the food is delicious. The ambience is good. I extended my booking several more days when i was there. You can order a taxi to the airport from this hotel for 7 dollars.

The space is in middle of thamel, right beside purple haze. The hotel was kinda too silent, a little creepy for me. The service is okay i guess. The place is nice but the rooms are little small and so is the bed. The washroom taps are also little rusty. The roof top restaurant is a nice addition to the place. I would not recommend the hotel for various reasons. You can find more better options for the price.

It was my first time in Nepal and I couldn't have asked for somewhere better to stay! I was picked up from the airport and immediately informed on the local area by my driver Likewise, staff were very friendly and outgoing, especially Dave! He assisted me and others in getting tracking passes, clothing, flights the list goes on! Will definitely stay here in the future.

There was basically nothing to like about hotel potela. The rooms were grungy (musty with stained blankets), the WiFi didn’t work in the room, and the cafe (which is down the hall) plays music extremely loud until midnight. To top that off, there’s a night club a couple floors down that goes until 2 am as well as the surrounding clubs, although they’re not quite as loud. The location of the hotel was marked as a positive but it really is not. It’s in the direct heart of Thamel and as a result you can expect very little rest. If you’re looking to stay in the area, stay at any hotel about 10 minutes outside of the proximity and you’ll have a significantly better relaxing and restful experience.

The rooms are okay. The manager is a really nice guy who wants to help his hosts. However, the club just next to the hotel makes it a really inconvenient place to rest after a tiring day. Don't hope to sleep before midnight..

One star for the great staff!! But the quality of the hotel is just not up to standards of other hotels for the price. Also the hotel is located in Thamel center so be prepared for blasting music in your room as you try to sleep.
