It frustrates me to write this review because my initial stay was great - the hotel was quiet, location is decent, breakfast was good and one of the employees even helped me drive my car out of the private parking. Given the great first day, we returned for another later in the week - the same person checked us in and I enquired about laundry services. At this point, he should have shown me the astronomical prices charged for laundry because no one in their right mind would choose to do their laundry here even if they had no clean clothes to wear, but instead, he told us to take our laundry down to the basement. There, I was told laundry would be done by that evening, only to be told later that the lady had gone home for the day and it wouldn't be done until the next morning which meant we left Ouro Preto for our next destination a lot later. All 6 people who I spoke to about laundry failed to show me pricing for the service or at least give me an estimate. ||||On the second night, hotel guests were loud all night (not a hotel issue specifically, just a reflection on how noise travels when the hotel is at higher capacity) and breakfast service was not great. Tables remained stacked with plates and the dining area was incredibly busy. On check out, the lady at the front desk knew from the laundry bill that no one informed me of the prices and offered a discount which still meant I was paying USD 20 for a few items of laundry that arrived late, some of which were still slightly damp. I admit I should have specifically asked for the pricing in the first place but I trusted the front desk from our first stay and this part is my fault.||||Overall, the staff need better training which can only come from management. I reached out to management to suggest this as well as sticking up the laundry prices on the wall so guests are not deceived further, only to be told the laundry prices are the laundry prices. Wouldn't typically review a hotel's service so negatively during the pandemic but felt the need to warn travellers to seek an alternative for laundry if needed and avoid this place close to the weekend when it becomes less tranquil and more noisy.
