This is a wonderful modern hotel close to the beach in Itapua, and convenient for Salvador Bahia airport. It is a great place for an overnight before an early flight. Taxi from the hotel to the airport at 4AM cost me about US$18 - it would have been about US$100 from Pelourinho. ||||The hotel has a nice lobby and friendly, accommodating staff. The room in which I stayed was spacious, clean and quite. It was well furnished including a comfy bed, a refrigerator, hot water in the shower and an excellent air condition. There is a pool on the roof, but it is just a large plastic tub, good for soaking but not for swimming laps. The sauna was closed for repairs. Security was great with the reception manned 24 hours, and a safe in the room. ||||The hotel is a 5-minute walk up the street from the main market of Itapua, which is located just north of the intersection of the coastal road and Avenida Dorival Caymmi. The regular airport bus from the airport to Pelourinho stops right at the Itapua market, so the hotel is easily accessible by public transportation. The market is colorful but a bit shabby. There are several simple restaurants nearby around it and on the beach road. Most of them seem to serve fish. ||||Going to the beach is easy - just walk a couple of minutes past the market and you reach the shore. There are rocks just off the beach, which form semi-enclosed pools for swimming, but there is no life guard. I went for a walk on the shore all the way to the lighthouse, which was nice. It took about 30 minutes. Be careful of your surrounding, though, and avoid deserted sections of the beach (walk on the parallel beach road instead, where there is always traffic). Also, it is probably best to avoid walking around after nightfall, except, perhaps for a short walk to one of the nearby restaurants.
