Wife and I stayed here at Easter. The hotel is in a great location and is a ten minute stroll to the lively location of Sol Square and a five minute walk to the Gran Via full of high street shops.|Check in was straightforward and friendly. Our room was facing the street and there was no noise at all even on a busy Saturday night. Two exterior shutter doors ensured this. Small balcony to stand on. Room itself was immaculate with plenty of amenities including a free minibar which included soft drinks and a bottle of beer. The downstairs restaurant is where the breakfast was located. It is a lovely area and we had a few drinks at the bar in the evening. Lovely 'old worldly' setting accompanied by free tapas. A very popular location as lots of locals were popping in and out for drinks and nibbles. Breakfast had everything you could wish for and was an ideal start to the day. Plenty to see and do in the locality and we also took the train to Toledo which I highly recommend. All of the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Just wrapping up my stay at this hotel. I booked a superior room with terrace. The room itself was decent but nothing special. The floors squeak and there was some mold in the shower. It was important for me to have a terrace - the view was not great and the terrace has a canopy which is absolutely filthy. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and being on the upper floor there was no street noise at night although the lower floors might be noisy. The exterior of the hotel is very charming with cool architecture. Unfortunately my experience with the staff was not friendly - no hello, no good morning or good evening. The location is very good although the hotel is on street that is not accessible to taxis so you can’t be picked up/dropped off right at the hotel entrance. I didn’t opt for breakfast nor did I eat at the hotel restaurant so I can’t comment. The wifi worked for me in the lobby but not in the room. When I asked the front desk about this the guy just shrugged his shoulders. Overall I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Preciados but would choose to stay elsewhere the next time I visit Madrid.

My experience here was truly exceptional. The staff greeted me with a warm and friendly demeanor, ensuring that my arrival before 2 pm was met with a prepared room. The room was immaculate and spotless, and the location was simply perfect.

First the location is perfect. Walking distance to everything both food and attractions. The hotel is beautiful. The Staff is courteous and helpful. So many restaurants around. Uber and taxis close by. Room is modern. Bed is comfortable. Good air conditioning. Balcony room not worth paying for - you can’t go on it . It’s really just to view outside- that’s the only negative. I would come back to this hotel.

As it was our last few nights in Spain, we treated ourselves to a larger room in this lovely hotel. The room was large enough to unpack comfortably, the bathroom was large and brightly-lit. The windows opened so as to be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the street below. We didn’t think it was too loud, even though delivery and rubbish trucks tended to conduct their business early in the morning. Good location in the centre of town. Easy walking distance to local shops, a shopping centre, surrounded by various cafes and restaurants. Also close to metro stations, and not too far to walk to the Palacio Real. The staff were kind and professional. Would happily stay again and recommend to others.

Positive: The location is great and within a quick walk to the Metro (Callao), Royal Palace, and Plaza Mayor. The hotel restaurant was good (we only had dinner). There are also many good restaurant and cafe options nearby. The free in-room minibar is a nice perk. Negative: Service in the restaurant can be slow when it comes time to pay your bill, but that's more typical in Spain and not a big deal (imo). There can be some street noise at night but the hotel windows are double and block most of it.

I stayed at Hotel Preciados in Madrid on June 16–17, 2025, and got little sleep due to a serious noise issue.||On the side street beside the hotel, two large metal road plates cause a loud clang every time a car passes over them—and traffic continues all night. You can hear the noise when walking by, but not from the lobby. In the room, though, it's constant and disruptive.||The first night there was no noise, but the plates became dislodged the next day. Unless the hotel fixes this or offers a written guarantee of quiet or your money back, stay elsewhere. What should have been a restful two night stay turned into an exhausting night on our last night here.||Buyer beware.

Excellent location, room was clean and modern, loved the double sink in the bathroom. Lovely staff! Good breakfast, not great but good. The rooms had little additions that you might need, like tooth brushes, shower caps, an iron! A cute little balcony as well. I thought that the it was a bit noisy at night but again, it’s a central location. Overall a lovely stay!

Yelp
Spent a total of 3 nights here. I mostly chose it due to the proximity to centro and all the relevant attractions in Madrid.Even with that, I didn't really hear much noise from the room, due to various reasons mentioned below. Anyhow, here are my main thoughts: 1) I booked a deluxe room mainly because I thought the price difference wasn't material but also for the bigger bed. I think I got one, but ended up with a room on the 2nd floor that didn't have a balcony. Weird. However...... 2) the room was an interesting one. When you entered, you had a small dark hallway to yourself and the door to the actual room. You got privacy for sure. The bathroom was to the right (without a door though - odd?) and a small hallway with a closet to the left and the bed. The window looked out to the interior. The only reason I didn't care was that I arrived after a redeye and immediately got the room at 10:30am, which is rare for any hotel. I took the trade off because it allowed me to start sightseeing immediately afterwards. 3) the main downside of the room is that the wifi was poor to nonexistent while browsing on the bed. I think it's due to the location of the room. But move to the dark hallway and the wifi is full fledged. 4) there is a general privacy to the wing I was in, with only 4 rooms. We even had a couch right outside which felt somewhat exclusive. I did a lot of browsing there. 5) rooftop is small, but seems cozy. Too bad no one was there whenever I went up. 6) on the first day, I discovered that the shower door didn't fully close. The repairman fixed it within 10 mins. 7) great shower pressure with a rain shower and a powerful hand shower. Loved it. 8) really appreciated the USB-C port and the universal charging port on the left side of my bed so I didn't need to take out any of my type C adapters. All in all, I think the stay was worth it despite the small hiccups.

Yelp
I loved everything about this hotel, from location steps away from Puerta del Sol. Free minibar, and they refill what you consume the next day. Little details in the room like USB adapters you can use instead of using an adapter for EU outlets. A bidet in the bathroom, modern tea/coffee maker, iron was already in the room so no need to request for one. Pillows were abundant and luxurious, bed was comfortable. Breakfast included with the room. Service is excellent from the maid cleaning the room, to the front office checking you in, special mention to Bon, Filipino front desk clerk was very welcoming. They even gave free champagne and 12 grapes, a Spanish custom, to their guests. Really thoughtful and classy. This will be my go to next time I'm in Madrid. 5 stars!

Yelp
I am surprised this hotel is rated so well and I'm reviewing it with my experience for anyone who may arrive and go through the same issues as I did. Upon check in, we were greeted by a snobby duo and were treated like we weren't welcome. We checked in to the two rooms and the towels were stained in one of the rooms and there was soap and lotion missing. No big deal but I expect better. The air conditioning was weak the entire time and the hallways didn't seem to have the air much on at all-- it was uncomfortable. The view from the window was another wall with stucco peeling, and the floor was dirty and the shower doors in both rooms wouldn't close properly. Lastly my room smelled like mold. The only plus side to this hotel was the central location to many restaurants and stores. I'd never stay here again.

Yelp
Moderately priced with a great location. Staff is attentive, Cafe Varela is attached. Highly reccommend.

Yelp
I chose this hotel over all others because of the high ratings and I'm highly disappointed. The area is busy and noisy. The rooms are old and need a facelift. The bathroom had drainage issues both in the shower and sink. I complained to the hotel staff and it was not addressed. The breakfast looked unappetizing - lots of flies! I will not return.

Yelp
Yes, one of the best moderately priced hotels we have ever stayed with. We picked this hotel from online reviews and reasonable pricing. We arrived to a very easy check-in and friendly front desk. This hotel is located on a pedestrian only street in a busy shopping and strolling area. Thanks to the pedestrian only street we found our room to be very quiet. Our room was sparkling clean and modern. I was sharing a room with my 14 year old daughter (heaven help me) and we requested double beds by email. The hotel answered the email with, 'we have noted your request.' The room had two double beds pushed together making a 'king' bed. We were too tired to bother trying to separate the beds but I do believe it would be possible to configure the beds as you prefer. Our room was well sized for two people. Our family friend was traveling with us and had her own single room. Her room was cozy, i.e. very small. If a small room is a concern I would suggest studying the room types on the website carefully. Our favorite things about this hotel were, the FREE juice and water in the mini bar fridge. Not sure why this is such an important detail but it really is wonderful to come back to a cold beverage at the end of a long sightseeing day. The room had a boil pot for tea and coffee. I love this because I drink a ton of tea and coffee. We had a lovely dinner at the hotel's restaurant Varela Cafe. I will review the restaurant separately. We will definitely return to Hotel Preciados. They helped make our stay in Madrid memorable. Lovely hotel with local personality and details. Thank you to all the staff of Preciados.

Yelp
Wow. Great hotel! Clean, spacious, modern (we asked for a room in the newer section of the hotel), friendly staff and *lots* of amenities. This review is base on room #217. Starting from a full fridge of free drinks (not kidding, free; 2 water, 2 beers, 2 juices, 2 sodas, 2 spirits and a tonic water, see my photo). They even refill it completely each day (yes, still free). Bathroom is filled with extras, from the standard soap, toothbrush with toothpaste to lady's kit, bath sponge, sewing kit, comb, shoe horn and shoe shine kit. They refill everything everyday even if you don't use them. So after 4 days, we got a little overwhelmed with all the packages. The bed is large and very comfy. All the lights can be controlled from the switch by both sides of the bed and even has 4 colors of mood LED lights. The rain shower also has red/green LED, very strong water pressure. If you like plugs, this is the hotel! They've got plugs *everywhere*, several by the desk, by the bed, by the foyer, by the toilet (yes!) and even in the closet?!!! So charge up! If you're like us and enjoy fresh fruits while staying in hotels, there's a little shop (frutería) in the ally just to the left of the hotel when facing it. That market is convenient, but if you want (a lot) fresher and cheaper produce, there's a supermarket in the basement of the Cortes Igles department store about 5 mins walk toward Puerta Del Sol, very convenient. If we ever go back to Madrid, definitely staying here again, no doubt! And good wifi, ~10 Mbps down

Yelp
I absolutely enjoyed my stay at Hotel Preciados in Madrid. The hotel is located, right in the center of all the action. Although the location is in the heart of things you can still get a good night sleep. The hotel is 30 min from airport and 15 min from the train by taxi. Check in and check out were both quick and easy and during check in we were provided with a map and suggestion for points of interest in Madrid. The room was a good size, and the bathroom was a little bigger than expected especially the tub. The bathroom towels were deluxe sized which is a plus. There were boxes with a few items such as a shower cap, shaving kit and toothbrush kit in the event you left yours at home. The bed was a queen size and very comfortable. There was also a fridge and iron in the room plus the free WiFi connection was pretty decent. Overall, my stay at Hotel Preciados was excellent.

Yelp
Great value for money! I paid 108 Euros for an excellent sized room with a king bed and a small balcony. The location is excellent and within short walks to major sites like Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol and others. The staff is top notch and extremely helpful. When my room was not ready at my arrival @ 1130, they made suggestions for things to do, checked my bag and when I returned, I was given a key to my third floor very spacious room, no. 313. The hotel is in a league with the Westin Palace at 1/3 the price. I have stayed at both and without question the is no comparison for the price, even considering the expensive dining room at the Westin which I admit is fabulous for a setting. This hotel will clearly be my choice for my next stop in Madrid.

Yelp
Definitely a wonderful hotel in a great location!! We stayed here for 3 nights while traveling around Spain earlier this month and loved it! Check in/Check out - both were easy! We arrived at the hotel around 11am and our room was ready for us already - which was great after coming off of an international flight! The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Highlighted areas of interest on the map and told us about various areas so we were well informed. Location - We loved the location! We were right by Plaza del Callao and by all of the shopping. It was a quick walk one way to the palace and the other to Plaza Santa Ana - and from there, we were able to walk pretty much everywhere we wanted to on our list of places to see! We literally did not take public transportation except for the cab from the airport to hotel, cab from hotel to train station, and the subway to the futbol stadium. Rooms - Very clean. Not so spacious, but it was just two of us and we were basically only in the room to sleep, so didn't bother us. The bed was comfortable and had it not been for jet lag, we would have probably slept like babies. We had a (very tiny) balcony overlooking the street in front of the hotel. The minibar in the room is... free! and they restock!! :) We also got wine on our arrival and when checking passports on arrival, they noticed it was my friends birthday so they sent us a bottle of champagne for him! Value - I can't really compare it to the other hotels in the area, but in my opinion, for the location, cleanliness, and feeling of safety, I was happy with what we paid for the room. Overall, had a great stay and would recommend this hotel! :)

Yelp
Great area for walking, shopping, and eating. Staff was courteous and we received a room upgrade. Ate at the restaurant and enjoyed a nice meal. Many extras including many drinks in the mini fridge and all free. Will stay there when we return to Madrid.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Preciados for three nights at the beginning of our trip to Spain in May 2011. We booked this hotel based on the TripAdvisor reviews and the fact that it had free wifi and a free minibar. When we arrived at the hotel at 9:30 am, we were not able to go up to our room. The receptionist was very friendly and gave us recommendations of things to do. Upon returning at about 1 pm, we were able to go up to our standard room (1 queen bed). The rooms are modern and not overly furnished which is good since they are not huge. Think NYC room sizes. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well all three nights. The free minibar was a definite plus - it was stocked with water, soda, juice, and two beers every day. The beer was nice to enjoy while we got ready each evening. The location for Hotel Preciados is fantastic. It's a very quick and easy walk to the Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor. We walked to the Prado Museum (about 15 minutes) and the Royal Palace (about 10 minutes). The hotel is also conveniently located near the Callao and Sol Metro stations. We used the Sol station the few times we took the subway. It's a quick ride to the train station which we did twice and to the Reina Sofia. I would stay at the Hotel Preciados again on a future trip to Madrid. Friendly staff, good pricing (we paid just about 104 euro per night), and a fabulous location.
google avatar

Wayne L.

Yelp
Reasonably priced, in the heart of Puerta del Sol. You're within walking distance of many sights, and if you need to go farther, the train station is about a 3 minute walk away. The mini bar is free, which is a nice perk. They stock the fridge up with water, coke, diet coke, a couple beers and some wine coolers. Staff are courteous and knowledgeable. I didn't get a chance to try the adjoining restaurant, but prices are steep (25+ euros for an entree).

Yelp
Well, it is difficult to say a lot about an hotel besides that is clean and the service is great... it this case I would add that the location is really good and for a short visit in Madrid. If it is within your budget I would suggest it. The fifth start is awarded since the internet connection was really outstanding and my room had a really nice light color personal settings. :)

Stacy T.

Yelp
We thought it was great for the money we paid. It was at a good central location, with lots of transportation options. A little loud at night some times, but you kind of expect that in the city. It depends on how much fun they're having at the bar across the street that night!

Joy C.

Yelp
Great location bc close to lots, but also super loud at night and hard to sleep. Our room faced the front of the hotel and we heard people partying all night and then the trash truck in the morning...really hard to rest. The amenities were also underwhelming, but adequate. The free minibar only contains some water, juice and beer. We probably wouldn't stay there again, at least not in the room where we were...

Renee M.

Yelp
If you're looking for a nice and reasonably priced hotel in Madrid, this is it! This hotel is recommended in several guidebooks and has great ratings on all the review sites. It's a short walk from almost anything you need in Madrid and many attractions - including Gran Via, the Palace, the Opera, and Plaza Mayor. There are LOTS of places to eat nearby too. The room itself was clean and has a FREE mini-bar! The mini-bar included bottled water, juice, Coca-Cola, and even some beer. The staff was friendly, especially the evening bellhop.

Mark D.

Yelp
We stayed at Hotel Preciados for two nights, and highly recommend a stay here if you are in Madrid. We found the hotel was very reasonably priced and the room size, including the bathroom, was a good size. Our room on the 4th floor had a lovely balcony over looking the Calle Preciados. Given the hotel's central location, we were able to walk to all of the other barrio's and attractions. While the hotel is located in a busy area, we found that the hotel itself was quiet and we did not have any problems with excessive noise outside of our hotel. The service we received was the best part of our stay. Unfortunately, our bag was delayed and we were provided a Spanish only number for tracking our bag. The front desk staff contacted the number for us on multiple occasions in order to help us retrieve our bag, which was incredibly important for the remainder of our trip throughout Spain.

Yelp
Good location near the Plaza de Espana and the Palace. Easy walking to other key sites (ie 15 min walk to El Prado). Nice hotel with friendly staff. Excellent breakfast buffet. Be sure to check your bill when you check out. I had a room rate with the breakfast included and when I checked out, the cost of breakfast was added to my room.

William B.

Yelp
Hotel Preciados was last of 9 four star hotels we stayed at on a recent tour of Spain. We stayed for three nights and it was our favorite? It is located on a pedestrian street within walking distance of all one might want as a tourist The desk is friendly and competent. Our modern room on the fourth floor was both beautiful and functional. Despite facing the street, it was very quiet. There were many extra touches such as a large rain shower and perimeter lighting. And our price was great.

Lorraine S.

Yelp
This is a wonderful hotel, I've stayed here three times in a different kind of room each time and they are all perfect. Definitely good quality and the service is wonderful. My only issue is that the maid service does not knock and ignores the "do not disturb" signs so everytime I'm here I've been walked in on while with my partner.

Yelp
For tapas, this is not the place. We came hoping for something to munch on and got nothing but drinks and when we asked, they gave us the dinner menu with a plate of croquetas for 20€. Everything else--and not many more to choose from--went up from there.

Yelp
Fantastic Hotel! I have been in the Hotel Industry for forty years and they have this one down. Must have been recently renovated and they did a great job. Only improvement I would make a little stronger WiFi. I would stay there again.
