Hotel Presidente - San Jose, Costa Rica

While dated and slightly noisy, our room was spacious. The location of the hotel in the Centro district and the service are very good. Valet service could communicate better...they lost the keys to our rental car for a bit, which made for some anxious minutes. The restaurant upstairs was good and reasonably priced.

Excellent stay. Cool hotel, nice breakfast, very comfortable and clean room. They gave us a special treat for our honeymoon. Luis and Sharon at the front desk had lots of great recommendations for dinners and things to do. They went above and beyond helping my husband with a sim card. They also found us places to go on our way to La Fortuna which was great!

Very friendly and helpfull staff, especially (but not only) at reception (Amanda, Nicole, Luis). Very clean and comfortable, enormous and very comfortable bed, great and copious breakfast !! The only thing lacking was wardrobe space, but we only stayed one night so not really necessary. It's very central and lots of places can be reached on foot. They kept our luggage in storage (no charge) while we toured before leaving for the airport ar 5pm. But what makes this hotel special is the people who work in it. A great team !

Excellent roomy rooms and bed was very firm and not saggy. Bathroom was beautiful. I really liked the tiled floors which are being replaced by carpet (maybe bc the tiles could get slippery) - but they were beautiful. Complimentary Breakfast: 7.5/10. Location is close to all goodies in San Jose. Valet parking went smoothly. Room is quiet. Very good value for money.

Positive: The room was large and very clean with windows that opened allowing for a great breeze! The hotel is in a great location and has a very nice restaurant overlooking the street. Negative: There were renovations going on we were not aware of. The room next door was being renovated and the banging was all day and started early the next morning. Luckily we were only there for one day or we would have requested another room,

Hotel Presidente in San Jose has been one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. It is well appointed, clean, with amazing customer service and it is beautifully decorated. It is an oasis in a very busy and dynamic city. The room we stayed in (#718) was newly renovated and we loved the finishes. Our studio 2-queen-bed room with balcony seating and a mini side room for extra space was lovely (it has a small fridge, safe, and space for luggage). We had a nice view of the city/mountains too. What really blew us away was the incredible service. From the rooftop restaurant staff to the front desk folks, we felt so taken care of. When booking our tour excursions through the hotel (we recommend them!) to fixing the sliding balcony door in our room - we were attended to with the utmost respect and kindness. The included breakfast is a nice perk with the usual casual continental food. It is important to say that the neighborhood -while lively during the day and within walking distance of great restaurants and museums- at night it is not recommended that you go out and walk around. If you Uber and are with others you'll be fine, but as a seasoned big-city traveller, I was a bit surprised at how this neighborhood shuts down after dark. Even the locals do not recommend going out at night - so that was a bit of a culture shock for us. If you know this going in though, it is easier to acclimate. Perfect retreat in the heart of San José. Was an old textile factory and has exposed brick and wood. Tons of green plants everywhere. The upstairs rooftop restaurant is very intimate and inviting inside and lovely outside. The food was excellent. So was the service. All in all a first class experience. I highly recommend it. Stayed a total of 7 nights.

The staff was extremely nice and took great care of us! The hotel is so cool, Strongly recommended, great environment, and very safe. The rooms with two beds are very big, almost the size of a small apartment. There is a free place to park your car and a great restaurant upstairs with a wonderful view. The breakfast was so tasty and traditional to Costa Rica.
