Hotel Punta Pescadero Paradise

Remote. Fabulous. Quiet. Stunning. Immaculate. Can’t say enough great things about this place! BUT… don’t follow Apple maps directions. We took the most harrowing white knuckle route at night in a mid-sized SUV from the Cabo airport. Big mistake!! Highly recommend a real 4x4. And take the route through El Cardonal and then go south. Skip all the turn off signs for Punta Pescadero.

Amazing place with friendly people! Beautiful location with Peaceful days. One down side is for two vodka lemonade and two bottles of water at the bar were $60 us. Can’t afford to drink there :)

After a harrowing 6 mile plus drive on a dirt path that had sheer drops of up to 100 feet to the ocean, we arrived alive to this hovel with a view. The dirt path had spots where you would have to back up to find a passable place when you encountered another vehicle. Terrifying. Oh and it damaged our rental car. When we checked in we found that our “hotel” room door didn’t have a handle. No way to lock the door. They then tried in front of us to GLUE the handle on. When this “fix” did not work, they wanted to downgrade us to a room with 2 double beds. It was our 30th anniversary so we declined and spoke to the manager over the phone who finally agreed to reimburse us in full. They KEPT OUR MONEY!!!! This place is a scam with scammers running it. The place is very run down and filthy. BEWARE!!!! SCAM!!

While the property location is visually superb, I would not recommend this hotel unless you have a four-wheel drive vehicle (there is a 30-minute dirt road drive to access the remote location). Also, the amenities leave much to be desired: the shower only offered a tiny trickle of hot water—cold wasn’t even an option—and service was understaffed (we waited nearly 50 minutes for a simple omelette at breakfast). Even more concerning, we found cockroaches running in the room. The place feels neglected, either due to poor management or a lack of staff to perform basic upkeep. Disappointing experience compared to this superb location and rating.

Do not book. Similar to other reviews, I booked through Expedia searching for a hotel in La Paz (city) and this hotel came up. It is NOT in La Paz, it is 2 hrs away. They do not respond to calls or emails, from me or from Expedia. I have gotten in touch with them through WhatsApp only twice and they just keep repeating that they can’t cancel, Expedia needs to. But Expedia keeps trying to get in touch with them to confirm that they can cancel, yet they are not responding to Expedia to confirm. I have been trying to cancel for days and am this hotel is not being helpful at all - on an almost $1,000 reservation.

STAY AWAY! TERRIBLE SERVICE! I was looking to book a hotel in La Paz and for some reason this hotel showed up as if it was in La Paz. After booking, I looked at the location and it is over 2 hours away. Within 10 minutes of booking, I contacted the property and asked for a refund as the location was listed in the wrong location. I attempted to call, and they dont answer their phone. I began texting with the hotel and they claimed that only hotels.com could authorize the refund. After hotels.com reached out, they changed their story once again. Overall, bad customer service. I get my error for believing hotels.com that the location is in la paz, and I would get if they had been holding the room for a week or if it was immediately before the date of the reservation, but they're just being shady and deserve to be exposed as the shady business they are.

Be warned that this hotel is REALLY remote. You need a 4x4 to get to the hotel or hire a buggy with 4-wheel drive from Los Barriles which is a 30-minute drive. My friend and I stayed here for a week in June and it was too long. It's fine for 2/3 days max to relax, unwind, enjoy a drink in their infinity pool which is fab. No complaints about the staff who were all very friendly. I was bored with the lack of amenities and there was no music or entertainment at night so had to make do with Spotify. The food is average and not of good enough standard in my opinion for a 4* resort. Try and avoid the rooms with a connecting door. I could hear the resident next door snoring very loudly which was disruptive.

Beautiful location! The villas are all ocean facing and their property is dog friendly. The villas are spacious with patios. They have beds and hammocks on the beach and a gym and kayak/paddle board rentals available. The pool was under renovation while I was there but it looked good! One star off because the restaurant service is slow and the food very average. Probably best to go into town for meals.

Highly recommend if you are willing to take the drive from the usual. It's a windy road but you will make it to paradise. This place is surely a paradise. Has everything you need and a full private beach all to yourself with cabanas, snorkel gear, paddle boards, you name it. It's hidden outside Barilles. You think you missed it but it's there. Staff is amazing so helpful and cater to you. They have all you need here and don't need to go anywhere. This place is a true gem. Come here and relax and unwind. It's a hidden gem.

Went snorkeling down the road and got thirsty. Stopped In For drink and loved them so much decided to order lunch. Mojito was the best we had that week. Started off with pina coladas and sangria, because he didn't have mint, all so good and you could not not beat the view. Then he found some mint so we went with a round. They were fantastic. Just the way I like them, lots of mint and not too sweet. Food was disappointing though. The sashimi tuna was grainy and made me a little worried about freshness. They are on a remote part of the area and not a lot of guests when we were there so they may have been trying to get rid of it or maybe just frozen too long. The fajitas were dry and just not that great. Very friendly staff and did I mention the venue! May want to stay there a night a two the next time we go.

Is it perfect? No. Is it the bumpiest road ever to get there? Yes. Should you drive your nice shiny rental car on that road? Nooooo. But once you get there... and somehow find someone to check you in, it's pretty damn nice. The beach and view alone are worth it. The staff makes it a 10. They want you to be happy even if you're only two of four guests in the whole hotel. They smile, they laugh and they love this place. Beds are heaven, bathrooms not so much and patios perfect. The crazy manta rays that pop all night are super fun and mysterious. The food is basic but who cares? Margaritas are huge and the silence is lovely. On our exit, we waited 20 minutes for someone to check us out and finally wrote a note saying goodbye. Yep, that kind of place...

The view can't be beat. Just beautiful. I ordered a blueberry Mohito which was yummy. And the Pesdadero salad with shrimp. I think I would have preferred the Avocado salad due to the dressing choice. I thought mine came with avocado as well. Regardless. Great food and drinks. Attentive staff. Beautiful location.

We spent a glorious day renting an ATV and driving up to Snorkel Beach just below the last hill to Punta Pescadero. Pretty excellent shore diving and a nice beach to hang. Then we went up to the restaurant for a glorious elevated view of the coast. You can play cornhole overlooking it while you wait. I kind of had a bad feeling about how the food was going to be based on how casual the wait staff seemed to be. But to my surprise it was excellent. I had steak fajitas and a pina colada that were both terrific. My wife liked her avocado salad, and she's picky. I enjoyed the basic nachos, but my wife and daughter didn't care for their refried beans much. These chips are loaded! My daughter's jumbo shrimp had the best char we've had in Baja. This was a great day!

It's a beautiful hotel and the beach here is one of the best in Los Barriles, but the new manager there, Hector, is terrible. DO NOT HOLD YOUR WEDDING HERE! We contacted him to hold our wedding there and kept asking what the venue fee would be or what the average cost of a 50 person wedding would be there. I even sent him 4 pages of tables, chairs, venue set up, etc of what I envision for our wedding, and still he couldn't give us a number! We went to Rancho Buena Vista and Rancho Leonero and they were both able to at least give us a flat rate venue fee, but Hector was unwilling unless we gave him a budget. If someone wants to get married here, shouldn't they know the price of just reserving the venue straight out? How do you expect someone to reserve the space without knowing! He said to reserve it, we would pay 25%. Sooo..... 25% of what!?? We refused to tell him our budget because we didn't want him to up the cost just to match our budget. That's something only us and our wedding planner should know. Then he changed his answer and said we just have to pay for food to reserve it which is $50/person no matter whether it is plated or buffet-style. Ummm no, that's ridiculously overpriced for food. My sister got married recently and only paid $35/person in the states, so no, I am not going to pay $50/person, especially if it's a buffet. I had been corresponding with Hector for the past month, and we visited him the day before our scheduled appointment because my fiancé met with him earlier and didn't like him already. So we stopped in earlier just to see if we could get some sort of price point from him before our actual appointment and again he'd give nothing away and then complained that he was going to have numbers written up by our appointment, but since we're early he didn't. He had an entire month to come up with numbers and he wanted to wait until right before our appointment to get it together!? We came one day early, not a week early! We spoke with a potential wedding planner the next day who we had told previously we were thinking of having it there and when we met with her we told her it's definitely not an option anymore, and she shared with us a wedding she recently had there and the couple got completely screwed over on costs. So glad we changed our minds! Also, if you plan on going here just to eat, in general, not for a wedding. Be prepared to spend about $80USD for 3 people. Some friends went here for lunch a few days before we arrived and were pissed that lunch cost that much... and in Mexico! Rooms here also go for $180USD a night Hector said, although their website says $120 (that's how the other couple got screwed over, they told their guests the special rate was $180 and when they checked out the website they saw it was much cheaper). PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ESTABLISHMENT FOR FOOD, HOTEL, OR FOR WEDDINGS!

I recommend you avoid this hotel at all costs. The per night costs are high and you get nothing for what you pay for. The hotel itself is beautiful and the location Is great, but not worth the per night costs and poor service you get. The WiFi was down the whole week we were there. The only way to get internet connect was to sit outside the hotel office. We had a problem with roaches in our room. At the end of our stay, they tried to charge for the room even thu it was already prepaid. When we showed the that it was already paid, they said ok and then charged us again after we left. So we paid twice for poor service and an over priced room. What you get is not even budget hotel service for a four star price.

If you like a relaxing beach, great fishing, and REALLY being away from it all ... by which I mean 45 minutes from the nearest town (Los Barriles) via a horrendous dirt road ... this is the place for you. If you're planning on driving somewhere every day (La Paz, Todos Santos, etc.), you're probably better off staying closer to the main road, because getting to the paved road every day (and then getting back to the resort at night) is a real time waster. But if you plan to stay in one, isolated spot for your entire vacation - or you're rich and have your own plane, since they do have a private airstrip - this is the place for you. A small property (less than 20 rooms), virtually unchanged over the last 4 or 5 decades, but legit 4-star quality with an excellent restaurant and more than adequate bar. They will arrange fishing for you, and they prepared the Dorado and Bonito that we caught. It's a bit too isolated for my wife, but I like this place a lot. Wifi only reliable in dining room & bar.

Punta Pescadera is such a wonderful spot for relaxing, snorkeling, or just for the views. I came here when I was five years old and then just five years ago. My parents had just been back to the hotel this February, and they thought that it would be a great idea to come back for a few nights during spring break. We have a rental house in Cabo at the Pamilla (that lost power and the water and gas were turned off) that doesn't have much to do. So we booked a room in advance and left Cabo. The ride from Cabo to Punta Pescadera is about an hour and a half and the last part of the ride is dirt road (it's called Los Barriles) but it's only about twenty minutes. Once you pull up into the cobblestone driveway, you feel as though you've pulled into a wonderful paradise. The only signs of civilization are the clusters of houses to the left of the hotel but other than that, you are left in your own little paradise. The food is AMAZING (both at the bar and the restaurant). The bar has more casual food such as quesadillas, hamburgers, etc. The restaurant is where you eat breakfast (which is amazing and you must try the french toast). The menu has flank steak, chicken, shrimp, and a variety of salads. I prefer the bar menu over the restaurant menu just because I like to keep it casual. The piña coladas are so delicious. It's extremely difficult to find good piña coladas that have a balance between pineapple and coconut and those piña coladas are just right. There is so much to do during the day. You can rent ATVs, go snorkeling, or just relax on a lounge chair by the pool or on the beach. The best time to go is anytime that is not a holiday. During Christmas and Easter it can get really crowded. My family and I have had this place to ourselves and it was wonderful. I really do recommend to come here if you think that Cabo is too crowded and you want to go somewhere more secluded and less crowded. If you remember and love the old Cabo, then Punta Pescadera is the perfect place.

Great place! Super friendly staff, quiet beach, great access to surfing/SUPing/snorkeling/swimming whether it was on their beach or a nearby beach. The grounds were well kept and our room had AC, a porch to a great ocean view. Would come back here again!
