Real de Minas San Miguel de Allende (San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Once a bustling Spanish colonial capital, San Miguel de Allende emptied out after the Mexican Revolution and a flu epidemic, leaving its colorful houses and cobblestoned streets nearly abandoned for decades. Many of its historic buildings have since been turned into hotels, and even more recently built properties, like Real de Minas, take inspiration from the past. Set just outside of the historic center, the hotel is modeled after a countryside hacienda, complete with decorative stucco buildings, stone archways, beautifully landscaped gardens, a large pool, even a lienzo charro, or Spanish-style bullring." - Tablet Hotels

We were so excited to visit San Miguel Allende, and yes it is stunning however, our hotel experience was horrible. |The bathroom shower was covered with mildew, shower doors covered with white spots. I was so discussed that I decided not to shower. The other thing was when trying to order food, no answer from the front desk or the restaurant the phone just rang and rang. No answer, so I went down to the front desk and inquired about me calling but no answer and that I just wanted to order some food.. the lady said .. oh yes I saw you called but I was busy. 😒 I just couldn’t believe what I heard. So I turned around went to the restaurant and ordered food. I immediately booked another hotel, much more affordable and with great reviews. Can’t wait to leave! Save your money and do not spend it here. Horrible!

Great location and beautiful common areas but tired and dirty rooms. The bathrooms were probably nice 20 years ago. But the marble showers have black mold in the grout. And, the bathroom sink had no hot water. I definitely wouldn't stay here again

Older hotel with everything we needed. A bit of a walk to the town center - but we found more affordable and yummier eating places near the hotel! Pool was clean and grounds were taken care of. Very clean and good shower!!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This was an incredibly disappointing experience. The lobby is the only semi-decent part of the hotel — it looks nice, but don’t let that fool you. The rest of the property is very old, poorly maintained, and outright dirty. Our room had black mold on the window, which is a serious health concern. Another family we were traveling with had no working A/C in their room. When we brought this up to maintenance, their response was basically, “bad luck you got that room.” Absolutely unacceptable. I understand some hotels are old and have “character,” but that does not justify neglecting cleanliness or basic upkeep. If I were the owner of one of the biggest hotels in San Miguel, I too might try to justify the MX$4,000 per night price tag — but the reality is, the cost does not match the quality. Save yourself the frustration and book somewhere else. There are far better options in San Miguel that actually care about their guests' comfort and safety.

It's an 86° day in san miguel. The poolside pass here is a great choice . get credit for 400p in bar and food service. Jesus the bartender is playing the Bill Evans trio , it's really peaceful . The front desk provides towels and a warm welcome. The food is reasonable , the staff thoughtful. I consider it a rare find for the hot months of April and May .. enjoy !

We came here for their Easter Egg hunt and it's beautiful! The food looked great, the staff was very helpful and kind, and the space was gorgeous. Definitely will be back!

I recently stayed at this hotel, and while I was impressed with some aspects, some areas need improvement. The hotel’s appearance was charming, including the lobby, common areas, patio, and pool. The furniture, dining area, and overall ambiance were beautifully maintained and gave a great first impression. However, the condition of the room was disappointing. The bathroom had an unpleasant sewer odor, and the curtains were torn. The room’s general appearance felt neglected, and the bedding and carpet seemed outdated and worn out. Even the hallway leading to the room reflected the same lack of care, with an unkempt carpet that detracted from the overall experience. It’s clear the hotel has great potential, especially with its stunning shared spaces. I believe with some updates and attention to detail in the rooms, this could be an outstanding place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, which I greatly appreciated. I hope management considers these suggestions to bring the rooms up to the same standard as the rest of the property.

Overall, a great experience. The only issue I had is there was a significant cat smell in my room.

Yelp
Did not enjoy our two nights here. Filthy room, uncomfortable bed, no 3/4 of oilers didn't work and rude service. The bathroom had sewer gases coming up and stunk to high heaven. NO HOT water for a shower, like warm. Dinner and breakfast buffet were horrible. Greasy fatty and everything tasted like it was cooked 3 days ago. Didn't ask for change of room because we were exhausted from traveling. Had to keep the bathroom door shut because of the stench. GO ELSEWHERE

Yelp
This place will try to rip you off. On 16 May 2023 our friends went to Hotel Real de Minas to buy an advertised May special 2 for 1 day pass to use the pool facilities for a rate of 250 pesos for the two of them. They told us about the special that runs for the entire month of May, so today on 23 May we went to do the same thing. When we arrived at the reception desk to pay for the 2 for 1 day passes the employee behind the counter told me that on 20 May the price of a day pass had increased from 250 to 750 pesos (WTF), so our 2 for 1 price would now be a 2 for 3 price. I specifically had him reiterated that the price has tripled over 7 day and he deadpan replied "yes". So we said Goodbye

Yelp
This place deserves no stars . I do not recommend this place to stay . The staff is not welcoming and very rude ! We wanted to leave that same day we checked in however , it was late . We definitely left the next morning . The rooms aren't the best .

Yelp
The hotel itself is decent but the service is TERRIBLE. The staff at check in does not tell you about the facilities which close very early. Also the electricity does not work until you insert a room key into the wall, fair enough but if it's not explained to you it is not intuitive. The AC in my room did not work as well and had to change rooms, slow process. The lobby bar area was like a construction zone with loud drills to hang a tv. Add to this that if you plan on paying for a drink by credit card good luck finding a terminal that works. I ordered a drink at the bar , lasted 10 minutes waiting to get charged while listening to power tools , not relaxing. The staff is not very helpful and makes you feel like it's somehow your fault for not knowing this is how things are here. I stayed at an airbnb for 1/4 price the previous night and had a much better experience.

Yelp
The hotel is nice but the beds are full size beds. At least they should have queen size beds. And why do you close the pool at 7 PM? That is ridiculous! People get back from a long day out and want to relax in the pool. We rented two bedrooms there was for adults and three children. Five-year-old 10-year-old and an 11-year-old. Supposedly the children are free but we were charged for the children as if they were adults. For those reasons we will not go back. And no I don't recommend it if you have children to stay there for those reasons. We did not try the buffet, it is cheaper to go out and eat there are many good restaurants just look them up in yelp. They also charge 100 pesos to park each day

Yelp
Awful hotel. My wife and I were supposed to attend for a wedding and had to cancel because our 18 month old son broke his leg and we had to go to ER with him. Cancelled right away and phoned expedia and the hotel. Neither would help or offer a refund, even with our circumstances. Hotel would not even refund one night. Lost flight and hotel. Staff were rude on the phone and could give two s**** about what happened to us. My wife and I stayed at home and missed her best friends wedding.

Yelp
Pretty nice hotel, they have a beautiful patio excellent for a wedding reception. A little pricey but all the hotels in San Miguel de Allende are, and at least this one is really well worth it.

Yelp
Beautiful Hotel but one of my jewelry pieces was stolen :( also, one day me and my husband were waiting for a cab when a second couple went out a few minutes later and they got our cab! The reason a member of the staff gave us was "they are the owners" i think they should have given us the right to take our taxi first. I enjoyed the room, the pool and the restaurant but i wouldnt go back to Real de Minas.

Yelp
The hotel is ok but the service and the staff are the worst!! They don't have a clue about what customer service means! I forgot a dress in my room and called to get it back, they asked first to pay for the courier so I sent the money and they send me a tracking number that doesn't work!! I call the courier company and they tell me that they don't have my package then I call the hotel and they don't know what happened because the concierge is on her day off and there is no one that can help me!!!! After arguing with them they finally tell me that the package is still at the hotel and it will be sent eventually and that they can't drop the package of at the couriers office ( that is less than 10 mins away) and I have to wait 1 or 2 more days for the package to be picked up (even when they told me that as soon as I sent the money they would send the dress) I asked to speak to the supervisor or the manager and they told me that they are not there and that there is no one that can help me at the moment and that I just have to wait! They were extremely rude and weren't even trying to help me. I'm never staying here again!! Please avoid this place they have no idea what hospitality means.
