Real de Minas San Miguel de Allende (San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Once a bustling Spanish colonial capital, San Miguel de Allende emptied out after the Mexican Revolution and a flu epidemic, leaving its colorful houses and cobblestoned streets nearly abandoned for decades. Many of its historic buildings have since been turned into hotels, and even more recently built properties, like Real de Minas, take inspiration from the past. Set just outside of the historic center, the hotel is modeled after a countryside hacienda, complete with decorative stucco buildings, stone archways, beautifully landscaped gardens, a large pool, even a lienzo charro, or Spanish-style bullring." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel Real de Minas was a comfortable stay overall. The rooms are spacious and clean. Our first room had a noticeable damp/mold smell, but the staff handled it quickly and moved us to a fresh room without any issues, which we really appreciated. The pool area was nice, with music playing and a bar where you could order drinks and snacks. It would have been even better if there were small side tables next to each sunbed. There are also a few activities like billiards/pool by the hotel bar, which was a fun touch. I can recommend this hotel for a shorter stay in the city, just don’t arrive with high expectations. It’s comfortable and practical, but not luxurious.

The hotel is very beautiful—the restaurant and lobby are truly lovely. However, the room we were given was dark and so far from the lobby that even the housekeeping staff seemed to forget it existed. They didn’t restock basic toiletries: no hand soap, no shower soap, no shampoo. We ended up having to buy everything at a nearby pharmacy, and during our three-day stay no one mentioned anything or offered to correct it.

All the staff were super helpful and courteous. From the time we arrived until we left two days later. They go out of their way to help. Thank you so much! Todo el equipo del hotel es super 👌 👍

Our overall experience at this hotel was disappointing. We arrived approximately an hour before the official check-in time and were not allowed to check in, even though our room was ready. The check-in policy felt unnecessarily rigid and inflexible. Additionally, the room lacked basic amenities such as a coffee maker. At the very least, complimentary coffee in the lobby would have been a thoughtful courtesy. The room itself appeared outdated, and the bathtub was clogged, which detracted from our comfort. Given these issues, I would not recommend this hotel to others.

Nice clean hotel. They do not provide a coffee maker in the room but there’s an Oxxo around the corner where you can get cheap coffee. Centrally located so an uber to downtown is about 50 pesos or a mile walk. They have a breakfast buffet not included with limited vegan options. Saw beans , don’t know if they’re refried in lard or not. Steam vegetables. Lots of fresh fruit. Didn’t eat here though for the lack of options. We got a room close to the game room and we got waken up by people playing pool at 7:30 am. Also, doors seem to be paper thin. We can hear everyone walking by it. The showers and bathrooms need maintenance, specifically de saline the faucets and showers. Stream was spotty or very strong thin. One time they did not left us a towel. Another time no hand towel. Minor things. Clean and good service. Our room did not have a view. Had a view to a wall.

This property has so much potential but fails miserably to deliver. Very interesting layout and décor which looks great on the surface but falls flat as a guest. Food buffets (breakfast and dinner) are disjointed, not great food choices and terrible (weak) coffee; unfriendly wait staff (especially supervisor) hover and remove plates before finished eating, continually. The rooms are large which is nice but with lots of problems, (1) table lamp was shorting and when reported to front desk, "Laurel & Hardy" came to the room to fix it but instead end up blew a fuse for the whole room and they didn't know how to reset the breaker/fuse to turn power back on; ended up taking the lamp out of the room, never to return, (2) no refrigerator or coffee/tea in room, (3) sewer smells in the toilet room, (4) nowhere to hang towels for easy access getting out of the shower (other than on the floor), (5) good sized flat TV but no HD service with 3 English language channels (CNN, Fox News and BBC) at least plus lots of Mexican choices of course (6) water (toilet & sink) was unavailable for a period in many (all?) rooms.||My room and it seems half the rooms of the property have terrible locations with frosted (sealed) windows to feel like in a jail cell with only a small sliding window that allows a small view of bushes only. The other side of the property (inner location) has pool views, patio and/or balcony.||They need to do MUCH better.

Google
A great experience from start to finish. We are so great full for such over the to top service from the manager Hector, from Fransisco, the morning manager. Also great service from Joel and Omar at the restaurante.||This place, just on service alone is above the highest ranking possible.

We are a couple went there for 1 night , hotel and room were decent . Going back from town around 11 pm we found out that there is a huge part/wedding just outside our room . We tried to let it go , waited till 1230 am , called the reception they said that it will be over by 1 am ... Nobody told us anything in the check in . Obviously it didn't end at 1 am , more like 0130 am . Needless to say that we didn't sleep that night. In the morning we went to the reception , 2 clueless clerks that could not get hold of their boss ... I left my email and asked for explanation and for some reimbursement . They didn't even bother to reply and apologize. They just don't care !

Yelp
Such a nice hotel with lots of room and spacious lobby with restaurant and separate bar inside. They also have a little convenient store corner with snacks, drinks, coffee, and anything that you might have forgotten at home like toothpaste and sunblock. There's also a pool table, and foosball. The rooms are very nice with tile floors, big flat screen TV, and patio. There are a handful of channels in English that show movies, and an MTV station playing videos from the 90's and early 2000's. The only two things was that the the bathroom sink was leaking, and it was so loud that we had to turn off the water supply just so we can sleep. Also the heater was loud when it was running. But other than those two things, it was an amazing time!

Yelp
I'll start my review with the small issues. Faucet and shower are incorrectly marked (hot/cold), shower doesn't drain well, and we found a cockroach in our room. Now for the serious issue, we had a peeping tom outside our window. We were staying on the first floor when I noticed someone looking at us through the window! I called reception and asked them to send security. They didn't seem to take it serious, until I spoke to a hotel employee and she made sure reception sent security. After that, finally someone from reception called me and offered to switch our room. We accepted the room change, but he questioned if we were sure someone was spying! I told him exactly what happened and reassured him that someone WAS OUTSIDE my hotel bedroom watching us!!! I'm not sure if it was an employee or a guest, but we felt violated! The next day we to ensure that the hotel manager was aware of this incident/violation, we explained the situation; however, he seemed disinterested and it felt that he also wasn't concerned so much with our safety. He did offer free breakfast, but we declined because that was not the intention behind our complaint. We wanted him to know that we felt unsafe & customer safety should be a priority. Needless to say, we will not stay here ever again AND we DO NOT recommend that you stay here if you're a female solo traveler.

Yelp
Walking distance from a lot of things to do. Beautiful place and well kept. The employees are very friendly and will do anything to make your experience better. The only thing that I would charge or ask for is for a heated pool other than that our experience was wonderful..

Yelp
Did not enjoy our two nights here. Filthy room, uncomfortable bed, no 3/4 of oilers didn't work and rude service. The bathroom had sewer gases coming up and stunk to high heaven. NO HOT water for a shower, like warm. Dinner and breakfast buffet were horrible. Greasy fatty and everything tasted like it was cooked 3 days ago. Didn't ask for change of room because we were exhausted from traveling. Had to keep the bathroom door shut because of the stench. GO ELSEWHERE

Yelp
This place will try to rip you off. On 16 May 2023 our friends went to Hotel Real de Minas to buy an advertised May special 2 for 1 day pass to use the pool facilities for a rate of 250 pesos for the two of them. They told us about the special that runs for the entire month of May, so today on 23 May we went to do the same thing. When we arrived at the reception desk to pay for the 2 for 1 day passes the employee behind the counter told me that on 20 May the price of a day pass had increased from 250 to 750 pesos (WTF), so our 2 for 1 price would now be a 2 for 3 price. I specifically had him reiterated that the price has tripled over 7 day and he deadpan replied "yes". So we said Goodbye

Yelp
This place deserves no stars . I do not recommend this place to stay . The staff is not welcoming and very rude ! We wanted to leave that same day we checked in however , it was late . We definitely left the next morning . The rooms aren't the best .

Yelp
The hotel itself is decent but the service is TERRIBLE. The staff at check in does not tell you about the facilities which close very early. Also the electricity does not work until you insert a room key into the wall, fair enough but if it's not explained to you it is not intuitive. The AC in my room did not work as well and had to change rooms, slow process. The lobby bar area was like a construction zone with loud drills to hang a tv. Add to this that if you plan on paying for a drink by credit card good luck finding a terminal that works. I ordered a drink at the bar , lasted 10 minutes waiting to get charged while listening to power tools , not relaxing. The staff is not very helpful and makes you feel like it's somehow your fault for not knowing this is how things are here. I stayed at an airbnb for 1/4 price the previous night and had a much better experience.

Yelp
The hotel is nice but the beds are full size beds. At least they should have queen size beds. And why do you close the pool at 7 PM? That is ridiculous! People get back from a long day out and want to relax in the pool. We rented two bedrooms there was for adults and three children. Five-year-old 10-year-old and an 11-year-old. Supposedly the children are free but we were charged for the children as if they were adults. For those reasons we will not go back. And no I don't recommend it if you have children to stay there for those reasons. We did not try the buffet, it is cheaper to go out and eat there are many good restaurants just look them up in yelp. They also charge 100 pesos to park each day

Yelp
Awful hotel. My wife and I were supposed to attend for a wedding and had to cancel because our 18 month old son broke his leg and we had to go to ER with him. Cancelled right away and phoned expedia and the hotel. Neither would help or offer a refund, even with our circumstances. Hotel would not even refund one night. Lost flight and hotel. Staff were rude on the phone and could give two s**** about what happened to us. My wife and I stayed at home and missed her best friends wedding.

Yelp
Pretty nice hotel, they have a beautiful patio excellent for a wedding reception. A little pricey but all the hotels in San Miguel de Allende are, and at least this one is really well worth it.

Yelp
Beautiful Hotel but one of my jewelry pieces was stolen :( also, one day me and my husband were waiting for a cab when a second couple went out a few minutes later and they got our cab! The reason a member of the staff gave us was "they are the owners" i think they should have given us the right to take our taxi first. I enjoyed the room, the pool and the restaurant but i wouldnt go back to Real de Minas.

Yelp
The hotel is ok but the service and the staff are the worst!! They don't have a clue about what customer service means! I forgot a dress in my room and called to get it back, they asked first to pay for the courier so I sent the money and they send me a tracking number that doesn't work!! I call the courier company and they tell me that they don't have my package then I call the hotel and they don't know what happened because the concierge is on her day off and there is no one that can help me!!!! After arguing with them they finally tell me that the package is still at the hotel and it will be sent eventually and that they can't drop the package of at the couriers office ( that is less than 10 mins away) and I have to wait 1 or 2 more days for the package to be picked up (even when they told me that as soon as I sent the money they would send the dress) I asked to speak to the supervisor or the manager and they told me that they are not there and that there is no one that can help me at the moment and that I just have to wait! They were extremely rude and weren't even trying to help me. I'm never staying here again!! Please avoid this place they have no idea what hospitality means.
