The hotel is located close to metro and bus stations and everything is easily reachable. The view from the terrace is amazing and every day there is an event organised by the hotel. Service is very good. The hotel has a polite and helpful staff. The only thing we did not like is that our room did not get vacuumed cleaned once during our 8 day stay. We did the tour of the El Born Neighbourhood with Clara on the first day of our arrival and really enjoyed it. Clara is a fantastic tour guide, she showed us El Born and had helpful tipps on where to eat or what to visit. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Excellent hotel - brilliant value for a stay.||We had the Life Corner suite for a 3 night stay and was really great value. Room / area was really quiet.||Lovely veranda and view. Very clean and fresh bedding and towels daily. All other areas of hotel really clean.||Staff were super helpful and friendly. Nice touches like free drink, we were celebrating and also had a brownie and cava waiting in room.||Great location is city very safe even walking back at 2am.||Only thing that wasn’t amazing was breakfast. Choices fairly limited and they def need a new toaster. Some slots not working at all and others just toasted 1 side.||One great thing you rarely see is the free locker room for keeping your luggage in if you have a light flight or early arrival and want to leave your bags.

My husband and I had a great time staying at Hotel Rec! Our stay there is now a special part of our experience visiting Barcelona! We were so impressed by the friendly service - the staff went above and beyond to make our stay great! We particularly enjoyed the events the hotel put on nightly. My husband and I participated in two of them during our stay and had the best time. The location of Hotel Rec was perfect - right in the heart El Born and close to everything we wanted to explore and close to public transportation. Plus the breakfast was delicious everyday! Definitely recommend this hotel!

Wonderful stay here. Bed was comfortable and shower was good. Housekeeping standards very high. Hotel is brilliantly located, making it easy to get to all the sights of the city. Rooftop terrace has great views across the city with a lovely bar. A different activity is offered early each evening - beer/wine tasting, walking tours etc. perhaps most importantly, without exception the staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming.

The hotel is at a very central position, right next to the Arch of Triumph and it was very easy for us to walk almost everywhere. The room was a bit small, but it was very clean and they changed towels every day. The staff was very polite. I would certainly recommend the Rec Hotel

I really enjoyed my stay at the REC hotel. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help. My room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with many options to choose from. The location was convenient and peaceful. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Google
This hotel is hands down amazing!!! We had a great 3 day stay. The front desk reception employees so accommodating, informative and helpful. The location is awesome in El Born, 3 steps from Arc de Triomphe. Metro 5 minutes from Hotel Rec Barcelona. We went everywhere easily on foot with the exception of Park Güell as it was a long , uphill climb. The room was large, rooftop pool and bar amazing! Don’t look any further, book directly, this hotel is 1st class and reasonable too!

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights from 22-24th September 2025. On arrival we were advised that our room wasn’t quite ready but they would message us when it was. This gave us ample opportunity to view the beautiful city. Located on a fantastic location, easily accessible for public transport. We were messaged as promised to let us know when our room was ready. The room itself was spotless. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. The staff are lovely, very helpful. The rooftop terrace gives you the most stunning views of the city. Air con and Bluetooth in the rooms a bonus and made the stay more comfortable. Breakfast was really nice. Good quality food and plenty of choice. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting either a mini break or a longer holiday. Just perfect - would definitely stay here again

Yelp
I think this is a solid hotel for a short stay in Barcelona. I was desperate to leave my other lodging and booked this one. Modern efficient. A bit cramped for two. The floors are concrete so if anyone moves furniture, you will hear the scraping (housekeeping). The rooftop lounge really makes this place, but it closes at 9:30 (nothing closes this early elsewhere). No fridge or ice machines, so on hot days you are left to your own devices. Not the best views unless you are high enough to overlook the nearby buildings. Friendly efficient staff.

Yelp
I visited Barcelona for my first 4 days in Spain and chose Hotel REC because of it's proximity to most of the touristy destinations and because it is ADULTS ONLY! Front desk staff were very friendly, helpful, and made checking in and out smooth and effortless. I stayed on the 4th floor where we had a walk-in shower. Free WIFI and the room apparently has Bluetooth but I was never able to connect to it. The hotel's bar/lounge area is on the 7th floor with an amazing view during sunrise and sunset. The pool and breakfast buffet are also on this floor. Breakfast is 12 euros/day unless you book your reservation with breakfast included (I highly recommend). Great breakfast spread that includes different pastries and hot food items that change daily, and your staple breakfast items such as cereal, granola, fruit, and charcuterie cheese and meats. Location is right by the Arc de Triomf and the huge park with a zoo. The street that leads you straight to Cathedral de Barcelona has many great restaurants, cafes, and bars along the way. Room does not have a fridge so I was sad when I could not eat my leftover seafood paella the next day. They do provide a coffee maker but I prefer the Espresso machine upstairs on the 7th floor :)

Yelp
Hotel Rec is THE best place to stay while in Barcelona! We stayed twice during our stay around Spain and everything was incredible. The hotel is modern, clean and located in the perfect location. The check in process was breezy thanks to Alex, he made it so easy. They welcome you with a beverage of your choice and then help you with any questions or recommendations for restaurants/sights/shopping. The room isn't too large, but it has everything you need. The best thing about this hotel is that it's quiet at night. After staying in Madrid, Granada, and Seville and dealing with all of the street noise and open hallways, we love the restful sleep we get at Hotel Rec. The hotel has nightly classes that vary from beer tasting and cocktail making and they're super fun. Their restaurant, Fismuler, is truly spectacular. We ate their twice and it was one of my favorite dining experiences, ever. The location of this hotel is so perfect. You have great little cafes, bakeries and restaurants all within walking distance. Some great choices nearby are: Elsa y Fred, Tosca and a great little olive oil shop down the street. I can't wait to come back and stay here!

Yelp
This hotel has a very good location. Walking distance to markets and pharmacy and restaurants. The down fall most places close by 9:30 including the roof top bar at Hotel Rec. Judy/manager at the 7th floor / roof top and her staff was attentive and nice to me and my family. She was very helpful in making reservations for dinner and telling us where the best places to shop and eat. One of my family member wasn't feeling well. When Judy heard that, she made her a tray of food and brought to her room. To me that was very nice gesture. GREAT service!! I would definitely stay here again and let my family and friends know. This will be definitely be one of my stop before going to Paris.

Yelp
Convenient location, rooms are spacious enough with modern design. ( shower is rather small but possible to use for one person) If you stay on 6th floor you might get a great view of the city. The lounge on the 7th floor can get a bit crowded and loud in the night. Stuff is professional and helpful!

Richard C.

Yelp
Just wanted to give kudos to Judy who manages the 7th floor where the pool and where they serve breakfast. She did a great job of hosting! Very nice and her crew was outstanding!

Yelp
Very friendly, cool, clean, new and well located. We spent 3 nights in Barcelona and enjoyed a lot our stay at the hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms size are good for 2 people. Breakfast is quite good and the rooftop is very cool and has a great view. I would certainly recommend this hotel, especially for people looking to be at a walkable distance to the main city attractions but not in a crowded place.

Yelp
Stayed at Hotel Rec for 7 nights in October, 2019. Impressions of the hotel: Pros 1) uber friendly staff 2) great water pressure in shower 3) fantastic location in Gothic Quarter...walking distance to most major attractions (Casa Battlo, Sagrada Famelia, Zoo, Barcelona Cathedral) 4) excellent restaurants close by 5) cleaning staff kept our room spotless..Actually the entire hotel was spotless 6) modern design with big opening windows 7) asked for an iron and ironing board......it was brought up in less than 15 minutes 8) very comfortable bed, great pillows, huge black out curtains. 9) we were there during the protests/riots and staff told us what areas to avoid/ where marches were planned, etc. Despite the timing of our trip corresponding with the protests, we never felt unsafe. NOT ONCE. 10) Hotel offers in-house events as well as a walking tapas tour of the area. We booked the walking tour but I twisted my ankle earlier in the day (on a cobblestone street) and couldn't make it. Cons (just a few minor annoyances) 1) no mini bar/fridge. No where to keep things cold 2) room was perhaps the smallest I've ever stayed at in Europe (thus far). No dresser for clothes, so most had to stay in suitcase. Walking by each other meant one had to jump on the bed. However, it was well laid out so it functioned for 2 ppl. 3) during our 7 day stay (which we upgraded to include breakfast) the same food items were offered for the entire 7 days (it's a buffet style). Very little variance. Alternating options would work well. 4) we received a fax from our transportation provider and were never advised it was received by the hotel until finally the tour company told us they sent our details (for departure) two days earlier, prompting us to go down to ask about it. Sure enough, it was at the front desk. Don't know why we were never notified by the staff that it had arrived. All in all we enjoyed our stay....would stay here again and would recommend.

Yelp
Run away from this hotel! We had a prepaid May reservation for 2 nights that we lost! Reservation cancelled by Expedia because we could not even get there due to border closings and our Mediterranean Princess Cruise of a lifetime was cancelled with C-19 Pandemic! $415.01 Lost non-refundable booking! You would think the hotel might practice better business given this world Pandemic we are in!

Yelp
Pros: Clean, quiet, next to Arc de Triomf and many bars and restaurants, adults only, safe, within walking distance of the Gothic Quarter, one friendly female staff member that we really liked. Cons: One male staff member with an attitude. We arrived from cruise boat to hotel, with two suitcases and our carry ons, plus two other bags of souvenirs we hadn't packed as we were only going from boat to hotel. I had inquired before the trip as to if we could check in earlier than 3 and was told no, but they would store our bags. The friendly woman who checked us in (I really wish I could remember her name), kindly helped us check and store our bags, speaking to us about her sister, fun things to do in the city, etc. Very welcoming. We left to enjoy the city, returning five hours later at 3. The kind young women was busy and a male helped us retrieve them while mocking how many bags we had, laughing and making fun, making a big production of retrieving them from a room just behind the counter. Two suitcases and four small bags really put him out. Each time we saw him we got that same attitude from him. The day we left, I was very sick and a transfer service was waiting outside that I began making my way to. As we passed the desk, my husband, worried about me and the waiting service, quickly asked if we needed to check out. In other countries, liked ours, you don't check out of hotels as a general rule. It wasn't a strange question. This same man, again mockingly, with condescension, shaking his head, laughed and told him of course he had to check out. Not a little, quite the display. Just not okay. Customer service matters. It can change everything. Our first and last impression were of a snarky, condescending man laughing at six bags and mocking a question about check out. The hotel is great, and we chose it because of the many reviews. I wish we could leave a positive review too. We were very excited about this hotel. Unfortunately, our experience included the above interactions.

Yelp
We stayed here four nights before getting on a cruise. We would totally stay here again. It's close to everything.

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel rec for 5 nights with my husband. The location is great, a quick walk from the metro. The rooftop offers amazing views of the city and don't miss their excellent breakfast buffet! The beds were large and super comfortable. Showers huge with all the hot water you want :)

Yelp
Nice trendy accommodation steps from the Arc de Triomphe Barcelona, parc, cafes and a few minutes walk to the metro. There are restaurants and shops a few kilometers from the hotel. The room was decent sized with traditional fixtures/appointments. The rooftop restaurant featured a full breakfast with terrace views of the city. Rooftop also featured a smaller pool/sundeck for late afternoon and evening relaxation.

Yelp
An absolute must stay if you don't need family friendly accommodations. The location couldn't be more perfect. It's located near the Gothic quarter so you can stroll around the "old city" after sight seeing. Really great restaurants nearby, including the one under the hotel, Fismuler. The staff is wonderful, especially Juan and Paul/Pablo. They have evening activities planned for free in the hotel bar on the roof (e.g. beer tasting, cocktail making, etc). Couldn't recommend it any more. We were there in the winter, which is also another recommendation we have. It's more mellow here this time of year.

Yelp
The Hotel Rec is a recently opened 3 star hotel near the Arc de Triompf in Barcelona -- I believe it has been in business for about 6 months. The hotel is very modern, beautifully designed, and comfortable. It's at the end of the old section of Barcelona, easy walking to many great tourist sites. The top floor bar and breakfast room offers a roof-top view of the city. The Fismuler restaurant is in the hotel -- an absolutely outstanding, cutting-edge restaurant run by former staff at El Bulli. My wife and I agreed that the hotel staff is one of the great features of this excellent hotel, from the remarkable manager, Victor, who has extensive experience in hotels around the world, to the desk clerk Noelia who wrote out a long list of recommended sites and restaurants in her native Valencia, the next stop on our trip. Barcelona was a wonderful city, and the Hotel Rec made it really special.
