Yelp
Pros: Clean, quiet, next to Arc de Triomf and many bars and restaurants, adults only, safe, within walking distance of the Gothic Quarter, one friendly female staff member that we really liked.
Cons: One male staff member with an attitude. We arrived from cruise boat to hotel, with two suitcases and our carry ons, plus two other bags of souvenirs we hadn't packed as we were only going from boat to hotel. I had inquired before the trip as to if we could check in earlier than 3 and was told no, but they would store our bags. The friendly woman who checked us in (I really wish I could remember her name), kindly helped us check and store our bags, speaking to us about her sister, fun things to do in the city, etc. Very welcoming. We left to enjoy the city, returning five hours later at 3. The kind young women was busy and a male helped us retrieve them while mocking how many bags we had, laughing and making fun, making a big production of retrieving them from a room just behind the counter. Two suitcases and four small bags really put him out. Each time we saw him we got that same attitude from him. The day we left, I was very sick and a transfer service was waiting outside that I began making my way to. As we passed the desk, my husband, worried about me and the waiting service, quickly asked if we needed to check out. In other countries, liked ours, you don't check out of hotels as a general rule. It wasn't a strange question. This same man, again mockingly, with condescension, shaking his head, laughed and told him of course he had to check out. Not a little, quite the display. Just not okay.
Customer service matters. It can change everything. Our first and last impression were of a snarky, condescending man laughing at six bags and mocking a question about check out. The hotel is great, and we chose it because of the many reviews. I wish we could leave a positive review too. We were very excited about this hotel. Unfortunately, our experience included the above interactions.
