Hotel Relais La Sommità

A true five star experience. Spectacular hotel, unbelievable service and kindness from the staff, and ours was a gorgeous and peaceful room. The food is great. Although I feel bad that the hotel may be forced by to house a very expensive restaurant - that is out of step with the rest of the modest prices in the town. I'm sure the food is great, and the restaurant staff and the superb manager of restaurant took thoughtful and greatly appreciated care during our wonderful and pristine breakfasts. (It's not a complaint. The restaurant may be also amazing...It's just a suggestion.)||This place is amazing! And people who work here could not be kinder and more professional. ||Ostuni - it's a bit touristy. The big attraction for us was seeing the 2,000-year-old year-old olive trees and learning how olive oil is made as part of a bike trip that the hotel graciously arranged.||In sum, for the days we were here, we felt most fortunate to be in such a magnificent hotel with such great people!

We stayed at La Sommita after our wedding in Ostuni, and from the moment we were picked up and brought to the hotel, everything was exceptional. The staff are wonderfully friendly, courteous, and professional — they truly make this hotel stand out. We were delighted to be upgraded to a suite, which was absolutely stunning. The view from the terrace was breathtaking and the perfect spot to enjoy a sunset spritz.||The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering plenty of variety and fresh options. We would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ostuni. It captures the authentic charm of Puglia, has the intimacy of a boutique hotel, and feels absolutely perfect.

Our room had no window, which was a bit off-putting, but otherwise this is a wonderful property, in the middle of Ostuni and close to everything. Very welcoming staff, flawless pick up from the car park, and great tips on what to do and where to eat. Given that we arrived in heavy rain, the warm greeting was particularly welcome.

We stayed at La Sommita in Ostuni this August for our anniversary, two years after getting married in Puglia — our favourite place in the world. The hotel has a true Italian charm and easily lives up to the Relais & Châteaux standard we’ve experienced at Caesar Augustus in Capri.||||The setting is stunning, with beautiful views, a chic pool, and a location just a stone’s throw from many of Ostuni’s famous spots. The food was excellent (especially breakfast and lunch), and the staff couldn’t do enough for us — always smiling and attentive. Our room was gorgeous, and no photo or video really captures how special this hotel feels.||||A lovely touch is their tuk-tuk service, which picks you up and drops you off, even late into the night — it makes you feel like a celebrity. Together with their thoughtful recommendations, it made our anniversary unforgettable.

We stayed here for 3 days over the summer. We had 2 rooms. Both of them were amazing. The hotel was in a great location. Rooms and amenities were immaculate. Everyone was very nice. The included breakfast was excellent and I looked forward to it every morning. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

This is one of the best hotel stays I have ever had. The architecture and design is beautiful and the staff are flawless. I would highly recommend a trip to the spa, it completely surpassed my expectations.

We wandered into La Sommita without a reservation, hoping for something light to eat—and were welcomed with such warmth and grace that it became one of the most memorable moments of our trip.||Adele, the hostess, and our server Salvatore were beyond exceptional. In a world where luxury can often feel rigid or rehearsed, they offered something far more rare: sincerity. Unpretentious, thoughtful, and deeply accommodating, they made us feel at home in a setting that’s otherwise dreamlike in beauty.||What began as a small bite turned into a culinary embrace—the charcuterie, the bread, every detail perfectly done. This is the kind of experience that defines true luxury: not excess, but presence. Thank you, Adele and Salvatore, for reminding us what hospitality truly means.

Pros: 1. Location. Highest point in Ostuni with great views Old character. Simple. Calm quiet. Small boutique relais chateau hotel. Walk and explore the town from your doorstep 2. Room size good. Excellent detail of shelf at base of bathroom mirror as incorporated into the mirror. This freeing up counter space. High ceilings light. Design was lovely and functional. Hard surface floor. So glad to see no carpet in hotel rooms 3. Private view balcony from our room. We loved room 8 Soleil. Slept so well. Am curious the history of the hotel and would have loved to learn about it. I should have inquired. 4. Our section of hotel had large private upstairs open room, high ceilings and larger balcony too 5. Service ! Daniela. Francesca. Gianni /Giovanni. Restaurant/breakfast. Front desk. Welcome drink fresh unusual made by Daniela I think. Fulvia C does a lovely job as the GM. Our many thanks to all at front desk to housekeeping and others that we didn't see but who surely worked to make our experience so very lovely 6. Quiet. Private. Nice especially for famous people who want the quiet family time with privacy. (Don't ask me who!) 7. Breakfast good. Fresh fruit. Ordered some veggies sautéed (no egg). But eggplant drenched in olive oil so not good. Yet zucchini was. No fresh cucumber. Would have loved fresh cucumber and riper tomato especially for veggie and vegan guests Fresh juice but consider adding fresh veggie/fruit mix wirh ginger. Great service. They remembered our capuchino oat milk preference. Pastry chef first day had a fabulous little chocolate muffin 8. Excellent linens Good bedding etc very clean. 9. Nice location to go and explore the area. Advisement: (not much of any cons to report - basically overall excellent!) so maybe just some ideas .... 1. During heatwave kindly have more water available. My understanding is that hotels are supposed to provide water when the tap is not ok to drink. 2. Parking not available on site so you park at their lot offsite and wait for pick up. But was fairly prompt. Fun little three wheel classic Ape ( tuck tuck). All part of the charm. Parking is not included in room rate However no cars in the city means a more special experience :) 3. Provide guests with directions to parking as gps not work well for finding it - probably due to some new roads Update : Noticed past reviews said no bar but they just have added one. It is more of a stand up and order on site. Highly recommend. We would return.

My new home away from home when in Ostuni. Fabulous 5* service. Warm and genuine folks working there. I absolutely love their morning breakfast. And the car service into town is such a plus. Rooms are lovely. My room had an amazing shower as well.
