"With its shiny black surfaces and gray-on-gray color scheme, this sleek little hotel set back on a busy Waikiki corner would be at home in any major city. Only here, the front desk clerk cheerfully hands out beach towels and boogie boards. Despite the $25 per day mandatory “amenity fee,” Hotel Renew, with its location one block from the beach, is still one of the better deals in town. Rooms are spiffy, the Wi-Fi is speedy, and a daily breakfast is included in the rate. Many guests are business travelers, and sure enough, the hotel is a fine choice for visitors who need a crash pad and not much more."

We were so happy and delighted to be back at Renew for our 8th wedding anniversary. We had previously stayed there about 5 years ago when I was pregnant with our son. This time we got to bring him with us. It's a small hotel, but it has a lot of special qualities about it. The friendly and helpful staff is the biggest highlight of this place. We loved the room with the ocean view and it felt pretty spacious. It was perfect for our little family of 3. My son was thrilled that we were so close to the beach. Around the corner was an ABC store, so that was convenient. There is even a little takeout place very close right behind that we got food at. ||Coffee in the lobby in the morning was great and their afternoon "happy hour" which was discounted grab and go drinks was fun. ||||We definitely want to come back and enjoy a staycation again. It was a very nice place to escape and relax even if it was only 2 days.

For context, my partner and I are in our 30s with no kids. The hotel is great because it’s far enough from the crowds in Waikiki but still close enough. It’s a 1 minute walk from the beach. You have to pay $35 for resort fee per day and $50 for parking which sucks but that seems to be every hotel in Waikiki upon arrival. Room was good, balcony was nice, the view was okay, it’s not shoreline but it’s still Hawai’i so there’s that. The employees here are what make this a 3 star to a 5 star. They were so friendly, so accommodating, they had a text service which made it super easy to request items. Their service was above any service I’ve experienced. They have free beach towels, snorkel gear or beach chairs as part of their amenities. They only offer valet but they are so quick to get your car this wasn’t an issue at all. We had food delivered and they held it in a fridge for us until we returned, seriously very accommodating. Free coffee in mornings, it’s brewed coffee but it’s a nice gesture. Overall because of the employee service, I would 1000% go back.

I booked a last-minute, spontaneous birthday trip and chose Hotel Renew—and it turned out to be the perfect choice! From the start, the staff made me feel so welcome. The front desk team gave me some great local recommendations that really helped me make the most of my short stay. The valet crew was also amazing—super friendly and always ready with a smile, which made coming and going feel easy and personal. I also loved the location—just a short walk to the beach, which was perfect for a relaxing getaway. The room was clean, stylish, and cozy. Thank you, Hotel Renew, for making my birthday trip so special!

This hotel was so much more than expected. The beach is right across the street. If you want to just play with the kids in the no wake zone it’s great for that, but if you want to surf it’s right there too. The hotel staff were incredibly accommodating. They have beach and sand toys you can borrow. And there are other spoilers that I don’t want to reveal because it’s so cool to experience them without expectation. You gotta check it out. The room was on the small side but very tastefully decorated and clean. I will definitely stay here again next time.

This has been one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I’ve been in fancy suites, motels, and standard hotels. This hotel out performed them all due to the EXCELLENT customer service. Always smiling, opening doors, and just great courtesy. It was a room we mainly needed for sleep. But when we needed something, they were there to help and exceeded expectations. They gave us clean towels and bedding 3 times in 1 week, they have free snorkeling gear and beach gear (towels and mats) to rent, complimentary coffee and happy hour drinks! The location is a few steps to the beach and all the eateries, and even though we chose the cheaper option for “city view”.. we still got a great view of both the city and beach! They let us park our friends car out front for a little while as we got settled in, no charge even though they parked her car in the valet. They would call us in advance to make sure everything was in check with our stay. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel. Personally… it’s a little gem in Waikīkī.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Renew, and were pleasantly surprised by the little added touches like complimentary pineapple juice and lavender satchels upon check-in. They also have some things for the beach you can borrow which was nice. It’s a small hotel but the little amenities and free coffee in the morning make it a nice place to stay in a good location without breaking the bank.

No coffee machine in room anymore. Bath tub was dirty. No valet parking available it was full. No fitted bed sheet had to request it. Bed sheets had black stains, mold, and burnt hole on them. Beach towels had mold on them. On second day of stay the body wash bottle was empty and never was refilled after housekeeping cleaned the room. The bath tub also had stains. Mentioned the issue to staff and they only waived the first night of resort fee. Not a good value for what you get. Hotel had a great location and I’ve stayed here few times but it seems like it’s a totally different hotel now and I won’t select this hotel anymore.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Renew! This place is a true hidden gem nestled among the usual hotel chains, and it truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by the warm and friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. The attention to detail in the decor and ambiance made us feel right at home. The location was perfect, allowing us to easily explore the surrounding area. We can't recommend Hotel Renew enough! If you’re looking for a unique and unforgettable stay, this is the place to be!

Yelp
I do a lot of staycations and I have had this place on my list of new places to stay. I was very pleased with my short and sweet vacay. This hotel doesn't offer many amenities (no pool, gym, restaurants on property) but I think their customer service, close proximity to the beach (across the street) and spacious rooms make up for that. I was greeted upon arrival and given pineapple juice, a fresh flower and a hand towel to freshen up. It was such a sweet gesture that many places don't do, so I was very surprised- in the best way! When I had to sign some paperwork for the stay, I LOVED the pen and told the man at the front desk how great it was. He said he had heard that three times that day and there would be one waiting for me in my room too, best day ever? I think so. I love a good pen. When I walked through the lobby to get to my room, there was complimentary water available, as well as signage showing free coffee in the mornings. The room was just as pictured on the website, I didn't have a balcony or patio and my room was sort of low (maybe 5th floor?) so it got a bit noisy but not unbearable. The bed was super cozy, all of the lights worked, the bathroom had a shower and tub and everything was very clean. I would definitely stay here again even though I do love all the amenities being available at other hotels. They have parking too, but valet only. Dog friendly and they offer beach gear and have a water station.

Yelp
Thank you for a fantastic stay!! 2 minutes away from the beach, with free snorkel gear, beach towels and chairs for the day! Our staff was welcoming and attentive, with an adorable lobby bar.. We will certainly stay her again!

Yelp
ALOHA. Would have left a greater star review but I am a little upset. I stayed here 3 nights, and the day I was leaving... I received an email, stating if you stay here 3 nights, the 4 night its on them... How come this was not given information to me on the phone when I booked my stay. I booked with Eddie, who was extremely nice however, I just so wish this was told to me. I feel cheated. Now, about he rooms, they are small rooms. not to big at all. The cleaning was my issue, the rooms were not sanatize enough for me, in the bathroom when I checked into my room, I could still smell urine, there was a lot of dust around the room like not cleaned at all... But it could be a high turn over rate for customers checking in and then soon as they leave another customer is checking in- which is good for business. So... Idk... sure the business is not mad about this, if this is the case. Another thing, I was able to leave VALUABLE things in my room and return and they were still there. NOW THIS IS HUGE TO ME. HONEST EMPLOYEES - so I appreciate this. So mad, the plug outlet is not by the beds, so I had to literally lean off the bottom of the bed to share my phone. The way it's structured and put together, there are not outlets by the beds- well my room it wasn't. I was not use to this due to the fact every hotel, I have ever stayed at, outlet right by the bed, or on the lamp next to the bed. Overall, it was a cute hotel from downstairs .. and I would stay here again.

Yelp
Went here with my partner for our anniversary. There isn't any self parking so if you bring a car you'll have to valet your car. But kama'aina get a discount on parking I believe. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We kept accidentally de-magnetizing the hotel card since it was near our iphone but the staff was very understanding and patient. We had the room on the 9th floor facing the ocean. The view was breathtaking, especially around sunset. My partner was able to deliver them a wine bottle a couple days before so they could set up the room. They left us a note and a complimentary bottle of wine as well. The hotel itself is kinda narrow and not a lot of rooms, which is good because the foot traffic is relatively low. The hotel is really close to the beach, near walls. Which is a great thing if you have children because walls doesn't have any waves and is shallow (around 2-3 ft low tide on the deeper end). The hotel offers beach towels as well. You don't have to ask the staff, it's off to the side. We were able to walk around waikiki, about 15 minutes to get to international marketplace. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. I hardly do staycations and I am so glad this experience was unforgettable. I'm sure I will be back here!

Yelp
Overall it was a good experience. Pros: the location is amazing, it is one block from the main stretch of beach in Waikiki, close to everything you could want. We had a rental car but never needed it for this part of our trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful with everything. We enjoyed having beach equipment and towels available to use and take with us. Plus the water at the front was nice and refreshing after a long day at the beach. Cons: the room was very small it didn't bother us to much because we were only there for two nights and not in the room much but if you're looking for a bigger space this would be tough. It is not the nicest or newest hotel, it could definitely use some upgrades but for the price it was not bad. We were facing the alley on the side of the hotel and it was very loud all through the night. I understand you are in a big city but you could tell the insulation wasn't the best. We parked a car with valet for our two nights and never took it back out but when we got the car back there was a scratch on the bumper. It was a pretty big scratch and it was a rental car so now we're having to deal with that. Overall if you're looking for a place to rest your head that's close to everything and won't cost an arm and a leg this one's for you. If you're looking for a nicer resort style hotel I would keep looking.

Yelp
What an amazing team. This cutie boutique hotel embraces the true meaning of aloha spirit. They don't just advertise it, they display it in every team member we encountered. Just all around a great stay! Thank you Hotel Renew. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Nice boutique hotel near the ocean. The staff was very friendly and embodied the aloha spirit. I realized that I prefer boutique hotels as (less) guests interact with the staff which can make for a better stay. Hotel Renew is not the tallest hotel in the area but it's a block from the beach. Unlike the taller hotels nearby, Hotel Renew rooms do not have any balconies but just go outside and enjoy Hawaii = ). Besides the beach, if you are okay walking, you can walk to the International Marketplace, Royal Hawaiian Center, Honolulu Zoo and even the Diamond Head trail. The Ala Moana Mall is a bit too far to walk to IMO. Rooms are clean and to nit-pick a bit, the shower head could use more cleaning as you can see the hard water mineral deposits but the shower water pressure is fine as well as hot water availability. Pro-tip: The hotel has a water fountain downstairs that the staff can use to refill water bottles (with chilled water) so bring a reusable water bottle to save the planet and on buying bottled water.

Yelp
This place is a dump! Do not stay here. Rooms looked dirty upon check in. I had to make 4 calls to get the trash taken out and new towels. The only good thing about this place is the location. But it's the last time I stay here.

Yelp
Honestly I would give this place more stars if I could. From check in to check out our experience was amazing. Hotel staff was above and beyond kind and friendly and always obliged to any requests. Hotel stayed extremely clean, maid service was excellent. The hotel is cute inside, everything worked perfectly, couldn't hear the people next to you and the location for the price of the hotel was outstanding. Walking distance to everything around you, we bought a rental car and didn't even use it. If you're looking for an affordable, walking beach distance, clean and friendly hotel you've found the right location. Very impressed with everything this hotel has to offer and will definitely be visiting again!

Yelp
Located about a block from one of the most iconic beaches known in Hawaii, this hotel is very convenient for its location with shops and plenty of places to eat and get coffee along the way. My best memory of our trip was being able to walk right out and get some of the best coffee right by the beach. They also offer plenty of things you may need for the beach such as towels, umbrella, floaties, etc. The bathrooms were pretty decent. Little small and confined but to be expected in the city area. The rooms are spacious enough and there is a mini fridge with a coffee maker. My only issue was the corners of the bed frames are made out of wood and the corners stick out. I stubbed my toe on the first day and because the wood was chipped on the end, I had a sliced toe for the remainder of the trip which killed it for going into the beach. Other than the bed frames, the hotel is decent.

Yelp
I stayed here on my last night in Hawaii before my flight & I wish I had stayed here in the other nights I was in Hawaii! The price was reasonable, staff were great, room was nice and clean, and location was good. My room view was of the parking next door but that didn't bother me as much. I parked in the banyan lot for $35 for the night and was able to walk over here. I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in Hawaii!

Yelp
We are a family of 4 and love to visit Honolulu at least once a year. This hotel may not suit the needs of everyone, but was perfect for our needs. We don't need a fancy room or fancy restaurants. We just want a place to rest up, some place close to the beaches of Waikiki, and a place to freshen up for the day. This hotel fits the bill for those purposes and for a much better value than the big name hotels half a block closer to the beach. The location is right next door to the Aston, but it is not right on the beach. It IS a quick walk to the beach, less than 3 minutes. It is located closer to the Honolulu Zoo side of Waikiki which is the beach we like best for the kids because there is a choice of catching waves or shallow calm waters with the breakwater. The staff in the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is not happening every day as with Covid precautions (true for most hotels nowadays). However, it was super easy to get more linens and cleaning when necessary. Parking is nearly half the price compared to other hotels...$35/day. Even though most things are in walking distance to any Waikiki destination, we like to have a rental car so we can explore other parts of the island. This hotel is easily accessible to freeway access and other parts of Honolulu. I love that they allow guests to have free beach towels, sand toys, and beach gear. That saves you a ton of money compared to renting any of those out on the beach. Such a great service that comes with your stay. There are rooms in the hotel with beach views, but we chose the city view room. There was no balcony to the outside, which was only an issue because we didn't have any place to dry out our beach towels, but not a deal breaker. The rooms are small, but no different than any other basic hotel room here. The hotel has been recently renovated to have some modern touches, but do not expect anything fancy inside the rooms. Everything is pretty basic and furniture is a bit worn. The reason they lose a star was because I was disappointed that the bathroom did not have a vented fan. It is very humid here and the bathroom was filled with condensation after anybody showered. You can see signs of mold like other reviews have pictured in the bathroom and the lack of a fan is most likely the reason. I would have liked to have a few more towel hooks to hang our towels. The bathroom really is only suited for a party of 2, not 4 like we are paying for. Once again, this place is not for every tourist, but it's perfect for what we look for when staying in Waikiki. Definitely a good value compared to a lot of the other big name hotels next door. I would rather save $100 per night and use that for a nice meal or shopping if it means dealing with a place that's a little less fancy but in the perfect location. After all, when you're in Hawaii, you would rather spend your time outside the hotel, not inside it!

Yelp
Staff was amazing and the location was perfect for a quick vacation. We usually stay with family but decided to book this hotel. Lance who we checked in with the night we got in was friendly and very welcoming. We will definitely stay here on our next trip because of the night crew. They even gave us several parking options since we didn't book directly with them and told us the cheapest spots.
google avatar

Yelp
cheap hotel which lures you in with a low nightly rate then charges additional fees And deposit. the Waikiki view room is a dirty ally view. Don't stay here.

K V.

Yelp
Writing this at 3am because you can hear everything from inside your room. You can hear the people one floor up walking around, the elevator dinging and doors slamming. My daughter also got really sick from having our AC on at night, so they probably don't check the filter. The beds are also extremely soft to where it hurts your back. The staff is friendly though.

Yelp
Great place that is reasonably priced and close to many tourist attractions. Located a street behind the zoo, 2 min walk to the beach and about 10 min away (walking) from the industrial market place and Dukes. Over all, the hotel is clean and it is pretty quiet at night. Some of the staff is nice; others seem like they do not want to be there. Pros: -Free beach gear rentals, towels, chairs, mats, snorkel gear, boogie boards. -Free delicious coffee daily until 10 am or so. -AMAZING HOUSEKEEPING TEAM!!! we didnt ask for our beds to be made everyday but they are happy to give you clean towels and take your trash out. beware they do knock early at 8 am but are so kind and helpful. -quaint eclectic decor -comfy beds and pillows -blow dryer, line dry string in shower, working A/C, plenty closet space, ample dbl queen bed room. -valet parking- make sure to check you are only charged for parking on days your car was there -Security (after 6pm you need a room key to enter the lobby) Shoutout to Owen the night time security guy! Respectable man who is dedicated to keeping the hotel safe at night. Cons: - Our room was not ready by check in time, but they were nice enough to offer another but it was not ocean view which we had OG booked. -the shower heads are not powerful enough and the water sort of sprays in a wide angle outward. I had to point it towards the wall so the bathroom floor wouldn't get soaked. -there is only one mirror in the bathroom in the dbl bed rooms. Not ideal for 2 people sharing a room who need to get ready at the same time. -walls are pretty thin. Don't laugh past 10 pm or security will come. Only real complain I have is there was a false fire alarm and the front desk seemed clueless about emergency safety protocols. After running down the stairs, I expected someone to come outside and tell us they were investigating, or at least check in with us. No one came out so I went inside to check, and I hear the young man tell a guest it was false and to enjoy her day as he handed her beach towels. They were obviously not concerned about our safety. I asked him if he was going to go outside and inform the dozen of us that were out there waiting to be informed of what was happening. He rolled his eyes and said "oh theres more of you out there?" like hello? yes the fire alarm just went off, are we supposed to figure it out ourselves? Tips: -Even though there are no balcony's on the ocean view side, I would recommend booking an ocean view room for the view is spectacular. -no complimentary breakfast but visit the munch wagon in the alley behind the hotel, delicious breakfast burritos! Deck andTucker and bevy on Kapahulu Ave are also great breakfast spots.

Yelp
EVERYONE on staff at Hotel Renew is truly kind and helpful. We stayed 7 nights and not one negative experience. Mary, Owen, Lance, Jaz, Kait, Jolin, Isaiah, Jerry, Lawrence, and Pathan to name a few of the people who went above and beyond to accommodate our family of 5 in two rooms. Rooms have small fridge. Front desk will warm/microwave your leftovers. Clean and pretty hotel with an EASY walk to the beach. Doesn't have a restaurant in-house, but NO NEED with so many eateries in walking distance. Recommend Kai Coffee & Maguro Spot for poke. Convenient ABC stores on every block. Hotel valet parking only. Attendants were always available and cheerful. 100% recommend staying at Hotel Renew when in Waikiki.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in ! Should have never left the Marriott. Booked thru AirBNB and the pictures are not a accurate reflection of what the rooms look like. This review is strictly on the hotel rooms and not the staff. 1. hallways and rooms smell of mold 2. Hotel allows dogs so be prepared for barking 3. Bathroom and especially the shower was filthy. Rust stains and signs of mold growing. 4. Air Conditioning is dated and not working 5. Half ass cleaning job 6. Toilet was completely backed up and had to use a plunger EVERY time ! Absolutely horrible! I couldn't take it anymore I had to check out and go back to the Marriott. Put in a complaint to AirBNB and the hotel denies my request for a refund. Even a partial refund. Stay far far away from here !

Yelp
Overall a good stay. About 500 feet from Waikiki Beach. Front desk staff was amazing. There is a grab and go bar in the lobby with drinks and a few snacks. Rooms were spacious and clean. Walls are paper thin and we did hear a child crying (or maybe it was someone who realized they were leaving Hawaii soon - LOL) late at night. Remember that there is a 3 hour time difference from California and a 6 hour difference from the East coast. The only real issue was parking. They charge $50 a night for valet parking, and they only have about 10-15 spaces per day. There is a self-parking garage about a block away at the Waikiki Banyon for $35 for 24 hours. There are a few metered parking spots right outside, however they were always full. My personal opinion...pay for the $50 valet parking. Never took more than 5 minutes to bring the car around. No room service, however, there are 3 ABC Stores (these are the best) within walking distance. One on Paoakalani Ave. (turn right out of the hotel) and two on Kalakaua Ave. (turn left out of the hotel and turn right at the street light).

Yelp
I love the Hotel Renew! From the moment we asked for a tour of an available room at the front desk, to getting the best possible room and deal, to using the hotel amenities such as snorkel equipment, beach towels and chairs, and the cold filtered water station, the stay has been amazing so far! The rooms are cleaned daily, it has stunning views of Waikiki Beach, and the showers have great water temperature and pressure! They even provided us with an HDMI cable to plug our computer into the tv for Netflix. The staff are friendly and truly go above and beyond, I highly recommend them!

Yelp
Fun stay at this hotel which has a great location for a great price within 2 min walk to the beach. Very close to nice restaurants. Also the staff was amazing specifically Johnny who was so helpful and kind and went out of his way to help make our trip by giving us food/store/activity recommendations as well as answering all of our questions. Very friendly face at hotel renew. Petition: plz change this hotel name to Hotel Johnny !!!

Yelp
Hotel Renew was really nice. It's across the street from the beach and close walk to all the restaurants. The rooms were clean and the staff were super nice. I would definitely come back to this hotel because it was nice and inexpensive.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay so much! Initially, we stayed for 2 nights, and they were able to accommodate us to stay for a 3rd night in the same rooms. All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! We had 2 rooms, and each one was clean and cleaned up by housekeeping the days we stayed. They have valet parking for 45$ per day. We had a lot of people on this trip so we did rent an suv and paid for parking. It was worth it for us. And every time we needed the car, they were quick to bring it out front. They close their front doors between 6pm to 6am and you use your room card to get in the door. However, there's always personnel there to open it should you not be able to. We had no issues with any of the service. We were very happy. The hotel is walking distance from the beach and stores. They do offer beach items (chairs, towels, ect) to use, but we did not utilize it because we left to a beach further away and had brought our own items. During our stay, it was fairly quiet around the area. You could hear the people walking on the floor above but nothing major. Unless you are super picky, this might not be the place for you. We wanted a nice comfortable place to sleep after a long day of doing activities, and that is what we got. We came to Oahu not to stay in a hotel all day. Thanks to the staff for a great stay.

Jeongsoo K.

Yelp
This hotel is infested with ants. Too bad, since this hotel is well designed and staff members are very nice. We moved the room once due to a sunken mattress and the new room had bug issue. We even saw a cockroach. They offered one night off as a compensation but frankly not enough since the ants followed us back home in the luggage. Now we have to deal with ants problem at home.

Yelp
Hotel Renew was summed up for me by the soap in the bathroom. A delightfully-scented bar of soap was contained in a box with artisanal design, but the dish it sat in had all its paint chipping off. There is such a strong focus on the details that some of the larger issues remain unaddressed. There's a tiny button in the bathroom that turns on mood lighting from hidden LED's, but the vinyl finishing is coming apart at the seams. There's this great little device that lets you control all the lights in your room from the side of the bed, but the lighting is so dim that anything at night (well, nearly anything...) that you would do in the room is challenging due to not being able to see well. Nitpicking aside, the location is stellar, particularly for the price. I would have expected a half block walk to Waikiki Beach to cost me more, but Renew was one of the cheapest in the area, if not THE least expensive. Be aware that this location is heavily populated as well. If you're planning on sleeping off too many Mai Tai's from the night before, be certain that all of your windows and doors are closed tightly and you may want to bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. The first morning I was there, I realized too late that the maids had left the room open to the air and I heard all the mopeds, cars and trucks backing up that made sleeping a challenge. The staff was always very pleasant and informative. The valet seemed a little understaffed at times since there is no other parking options, but it was never frustrating. The lobby and rooms are all well cared for and handsomely appointed. There's a small bar where a well-stocked breakfast is available in the morning as well as some not-too-bad drinks at night. Hotel Renew is probably not the best hotel in the area, but it is certainly one of the best values!

Yelp
Johnny made our stay from December 12th-15th absolutely amazing! We were celebrating our babymoon in Hawaii. We've originally booked an AirBnb a block away, which was so bad that we checked out early and booked Hotel Renew instead. We went to the hotel in the morning hoping to store our luggage since check-in wasn't until the afternoon. Johnny was able to assist with an early check-in even though we only asked to drop our bags off. What an great start to our stay! The room was just as pictured- modern and quiet. Everything worked as intended and they even have free coffee in the morning you can get from the lobby. The hotel was also a few minutes walk away from the beach, so we were able to enjoy to sunset off Waikiki easily. Throughout our stay, Johnny was always a constant presence at the front desk. All the staff we've interacted with was friendly and always said hi/bye through our passing. But he really took the cake when it comes to excelling in customer service and really making our babymoon stay at Hotel Renew memorable. We will definitely be returning on our next trip!

Yelp
Spent a couple of days with our 7r old daughter in Oahu...we wanted to find a place that was close to the beach and priced fairly well. We found this hotel so decided to give it a try. It is really clean and everything looked relaxing. Parking is Valet only, but pretty much the same price as self-parking with other hotels we've stayed in before, so turns out to be a better deal since you won't have to worry about finding parking. It's a very short walk to Kūhiō beach park, literally just across the street and you're there. They rent out chairs, towels, and umbrellas for free to take to the beach. The beach across the hotel is perfect for kids with its shallow waters and semi protected breakwater walls. There's ABC stores just outside (3 of them on every corner of the block) if you need anything, and a lot of places to eat. International Marketplace is a 10 minute walk, which isn't so bad. The hotel rooms are small, but adequate and very clean. The staff are all friendly! You definitely get the Aloha spirit from everyone. For the price, location, and needs you definitely get a great deal. We would definitely stay here again. Next time we'll consider booking the rooms with the partial ocean view! Also, the person (Dennis D.) who left 2 stars said his room didn't get cleaned during his 3 night stay..he said he left "recharge" on his door each day before he left, and the room didn't get cleaned. I believe he was talking about the "recharging" door tag, which in other hotels would say "privacy"...the tag you hang on the door knob when you don't want room service. I figured I'd just mention that.

Yelp
The marketing doesn't match the vibe but gets the job done. Oldish building. Balcony love. I enjoyed having dinner at the balcony every night and I could see the sunset and portion of the water. It was also a place to dry my dirty clothes and do yoga. One block from beach. One block from the tourist street that lines the ocean. They give balconies to the cheaper full bed rooms which is rare, but lovely in my case. Always provided everything needed. Must ask for new towels and cleaning. They provide beach towels, chairs, and umbrella which is nice, but the chairs were old and dirty. Umbrellas were also sold out. Female manager is kind of rude, but she did give me four free nights valet since I expected them to offer breakfast as it says online, and they do not breakfast. Shout-out to Roxanne and Mary who were lovely always knew the answers and assisted when needed. The valet parking is kind of a mess. They get it done though. It's not a traditional valet where you pull up in front and you hand the keys. You pull up into their tight and small lot which is impossible for non advanced drivers like myself to park in plus I had a Jeep Wrangler. Luckily someone arrived quickly to rearrange all the cars so I could just jump out without worrying. Prefer this valet than searching endlessly for parking after a day of hiking, driving, and beaching. Overall, perfect central location and room to unwind after my daily Oahu adventures.

Yelp
I can't wrap my head around the negative reviews. I originally had a hotel in this price range but the reviews started to scare me. Then I found this one and most of the newer reviews were fine. I mean of course there's the few 1 and 2 star bit those were sounding like people who expected the most fanciest hotel for the cheapest price. I thought this hotel was just great. The rooms were clean, quiet and spacious. We had a balcony and didn't pay more for it. Granted the balcony overlooked an alley and dumpster bir still fresh air if we needed it nonetheless. There were no smells, nothing broken, comfortable beds. All of the staff was very friendly and happpy to be here. You def got that Hawaiian welcoming spirit. The rooms did end up being more than at the much worse sounding hotel because parking was $20 more per night here than there and there was $30 daily resort fee that I didn't remember mention of previously but the hotel with accusations of bugs might have had one too. The resort fee did have more perks than other hotels in used to (looking at you Las Vegas!) there was always water available in the lobby, use of beach towels, chairs, boogie boards and snorkeling gear, sachets of lavender for under the pillow/luggage insert etc, room workout equipment (bands, dumbbells, etc) and apparently yoga classes at a park offsite depending on time of year. The location can't be beat. The beach was literally 500 ft away and plenty of shops and food nearby. I would stay here again if I ever came back and do recommend to anyone who's not stuck up about rooms. All you need is a clean quiet one :) friendly staff and extras are a plus especially when you got a location like this

Yelp
I stayed here for two days. The room was very outdated!! The A/C did not work. The view was nice. There wasn't many plugs by the bed. They never clean my room the two days I was there.. some of the staff was friendly and others were not. This hotel was expensive to stay in, and the quality was very poor. This is my first time in Hawaii. I base my stay at this hotel on the pictures on Expedia. From now on, I will always look at the reviews on yelp.

Yelp
15 minutes into our conversation with front office staff, I leaned over and told my husband, I'd stay here again. Staff was so kind, attentive, professional, and knowledgeable. The room was very clean. We had all we needed and more. Hotel offered beach chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards, and beach towels. We were a minute walk to the beach. We'll be back soon, to the same place to stay.

Yelp
We'd definitely stay at Hotel Renew again. Reading some recent reviews before our visit made us nervous, but because it was priced so affordably and just within steps of Waikiki Beach, we went for it anyways - and we're SO glad we did. It's not the most luxurious hotel around, and it doesn't have some of the amenities of its major neighboring hotels. However, we've stayed at another major hotel across the street and we enjoyed this intimate, boutique hotel experience wayyy more. The staff were far friendlier than we experienced elsewhere, and services like the coffee bar and DIY lavender sachets are thoughtful touches. Plus, the valet parking, bottle-sized water dispenser in the lobby, and options to take beach towels, umbrellas, and chairs on our daily excursions were life-savers. To put the cherry on top, the hotel is just a stroll from the beach, zoo, famous restaurants, shopping, hole-in-the-wall eateries on Kahlua Ave, and top-rated dining on Kapahulu Ave. For its location, service, and cleanliness, you just can't beat this place.

Yelp
I was there from April 6-12th, this is a boutique hotel if you're there to explore the island it is the perfect place it's in the center of everything. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, Johnny has to be one of the nicest people I've met. The room was clean the view was amazing (if you pick beach view) hands down recommend!

Yelp
there are way too many good things to say about this hotel so i'll try to keep it short. check-in time, caitlyn (?) and her coworker were the sweetest, making everything so easy. honestly, the entire staff we encountered was so kind and made us feel so welcomed and at home. there's a complementary lavender station to fill up little pouches and so many great amenities!!!! amenities even include snorkel gear which saved us money. they have water refill stations and the hotel room was EXACTLY as shown. only complaint would be the parking but i understand because the space was limited. parking is valet only and i believe it's $40 per night. we parked in a lot nearby which was $30 a night.

Yelp
Unfortunately I was fooled by the photos on their website which I assume were taken right after the rooms were "renovated" several years ago or are heavily photoshopped. You see, I was expecting the room to look clean, new and modern like their photos show. Upon check-in, the first red flag was that the elevator button is broken. It took several tries for it to activate and actually call the elevator. Upon arrival into the room, I immediately noticed the following: *The room smells * The carpets were stained *The furniture is full of scratches and had chipped wood *The bathroom smelled terrible, like a musky/moldy shower that wasn't ever cleaned properly. There was visible mold throughout the tub/shower *The hairdryer was rusty, this thing must've been 20+ years old While the room was cheaper than other hotels, I assumed it was because of covid, not because it's worse than a motel. I brought up these concerns with the manager. He was friendly however, he basically said that all the rooms are like that, so it wouldn't make a difference if I got moved to a different room. Luckily I was only staying one night to begin with, but there's no way I would've stayed there for the duration of my trip.

Yelp
The staff was really helpful and hospitable throughout our stay. There is no pool or gym. But for the price you pay, it's totally worth it. It's literally a 2-5 minute walk to the beach. You can rent FREE beach towels, chairs, floaties, boogie boards & more! There is valet parking and we had no troubles with it. If you're looking for a cheaper but still clean spot near the beach, this is it! I'd come back here!

Yelp
My awesome experience at Hotel Renew started off with being greeted by Charlee. After a very long day of travel that involved a lot of unexpected events, my fur baby, Zoe and I were starving and exhausted. Charlie greeted us with a big smile, she checked us in very quickly and played with Zoe while I got our items together. She also recommended a great place to eat , King of Thai Boat Noodles. YUM!!! During our entire stay (initially we were suppose to stay for a week and ended up staying for a month!), EVERYONE was AMAZING!!!!!! Love the location! Rooms are clean and spacious! No matter what time of day (morning, noon and night), Charlee , Mary, Josh, Owen, Lance (Thank you for being my Bulgogi Buddy!) and Roxanne (Thank you for the Zoe's treats!) ALWAYS had a smile, very encouraging and gave excellent places for me to check out for rentals. Also, everyone was very patient with my very energetic Zoe! They were accommodating in extending our room reservation which happened very frequently! Housekeeping and valet staff, Tessie, Diana, Gina, Rosabella, Sam, Jerry, Greg and Josh, I really appreciate you! Wonderful job in cleaning our room! Lyn, I really appreciate you and your staff! They all went above and beyond my expectations ! Mahalo for EVERYTHING!!!!! -Z. Bailey

Yelp
I recommend this hotel. For what it may lack in some things, it more than makes up in others! The customer service is above and beyond. Our stay started on a Wednesday evening. My husband and I had just flown in, it was late, and we were tired and looking forward to showers and bed. There was an issue with the diverter for the shower being stuck, and it was causing an abundance of hot water to rain down. We called the front desk, and they sent a maintenance man up. He fixed the issue and we were able to shower and sleep. Went to the next day, and the shower stuck again. Maintenance was called and he looked at it, and he said the shower diverted would have to be replaced, but could not until the next day. We called the front desk, and the happily accommodated us, and moved us to another room. No issues with moving us, it just happened! The housekeeping staff was wonderful! We did not want anyone in our room during the week we were there, just replenish our towels. Every morning I would leave the basket out by the door with dirty towels, and we would come back to a basket full of clean ones all wrapped in plastic bag. The rooms were clean, they did not smell bad. The bed was comfortable. The staff was nice, and knew the area well, and could give advice on what to see and what to expect. Coffee service in the lobby in the morning was good, only wish they could have had a danish and some fruit....that would be perfect. They have all of the items you need to enjoy a great outing to the beach....chairs, towels, snorkel gear....which if you look to see how much to rent a chair for the day is TOTALLY worth it! Great stay for us....Thank you!!!!

Yelp
This hotel is a a super cute boutique-ish place. The staff was super friendly and helpful, clean rooms, great location that was walking distance to the beach and all shops , and overall a wonderful experience!

Yelp
I think there is one word that can sum up our amazing stay at a hotel renew: Johnny. While all of the staff was very friendly, no one compared to Johnny's kindness, helpfulness, and welcoming energy that was present the moment we stepped into this hotel. He went out of his way to ensure that our stay was the best it could be, from giving us the cutest floaties to use at Waikiki beach to answering all of our constant tourist questions to personally making us coffee in the morning. Johnny is the absolute best and we would return to this hotel just for Johnny!!

Yelp
Hotel Renew was a great experience. I stayed here for my first time a few years ago and had a good experience then, so I decided to stay there again this time... and it was the best choice for me. The manager, Adrian, was very helpful when I called for an early check-in. He was very personable and made sure that the room was a good fit for what I needed it for (needed to do work, so peace and quiet was key). The staff was friendly and easily approachable. The room itself was beautiful. For anyone looking for a place to relax and unwind, I reccomend hotel renew. It really does live up to its name. I felt renewed after my stay here (even though it was for work).

Yelp
Hotel is 2minutes walk to waikiki beach, staff are friendly. That's pretty much where the good things stop. The bad ones: 1. hotel has little to no amenities having stayed in Hotel Renew for 3 nights, i'm still struggling to comprehend how the hell this hotel is rated a 4 star hotel in google maps. Here's all the amenities listed on their hotel, and my observations attached beside: - cocktail lounge no such thing. the so called lounge is a 3 seat(max) bar table that's permanently unmanned. there are some alochol bottles, but they are so dusty and dirty. - toilet yes. they have toilet in rooms. but it's so dirty and bugs appear every now and then. - 24 hour front desk yes it's 24 hour front desk. - hair dryer seriously? u call hair dryer an amenities? in modern day, that's a room standard issue - high speed internet access yea sure. if u consider 20mbps high speed. on top of which, they list WiFi as free on google. that's false. u actually have to pay an amenities fee for WiFi. - pets allowed - valet parking bullshit. the front of the hotel can barely fit 2 cars, and there's no one to receive you upon arrival. what valet parking are you talking about??? - housekeeping nonsense. i was there for 3 days and no housekeeping at all, despite my repeated calls to front desk to ask for housekeeping. - ironing board - air conditioning air conditioning does not work! i had to open the windows to air the room. - free breakfast stop lying on your website please? i explicitly asked front desk and she said no free breakfast. 2. room was smelly and dirty the room smells and carpets were stained with brown patches. furniture has scratches here and there. the small refrigerator is leaking the whole time. the toilet was moldy and smells really bad. 3. hidden costs The hotel charged me a $25++ amenities fee per night. this amenities fee was not written anywhere in my booking confirmation nor their hotel website. the front desk only told me about the amenities fee upon check in. i asked what the amenities is for, she said it was for WiFi, beach access etc. excuse me?? didn't your website and google maps list your hotel as FREE WiFi?? and you charge amenities fee for beach access when you are not even beside the beach and you have no hotel amenities or whatsoever by the beach? what beach access are you talking about? ability to walk to the beach ourselves?? this amenities fee is mandatory even though this hotel can barely provide any decent amenities. i would have been OK to pay the amenities fee if they had ANY decent amenities at all. But this greedy unscrupulous money grabbing sure leaves a bad taste. i've filed a consumer complaint with State of Hawaii for deceptive practice at https://cca.hawaii.gov/consumer-complaints/ and submitted a dispute with my credit card company against the hidden amenities fee charge. With all things said, i can't help but wonder how the hell is this hotel renew a 4 star hotel. Given what's above, i'd rate them a 2 star hotel at best. But guess what, they charge a 4 star hotel price for 2 star experience. I would strongly discourage anyone from considering their stays in this hotel.

Yelp
One star for the original staff and one star for the location. 30 plus dollars for parking . The staff playing too much on the job. On more than one occasion staff was hiding in back. There's no bar . There's no kitchen to order. The staff is unable to recommends for anything (pool, dry cleaners, food, activities). There's no microwave. There's no pool.

Yelp
A great place to feel renewed. This hotel has prime location in the heart of Waikiki. The check-in process was friendly and a breeze. I found the rooms extremely comfortable and the beds were super fresh and comfortable and luxurious. The bathroom is very well lit and offered a great local shampoo and bath products. I also found the hallways quiet and peaceful. They also have a cute little nook of a bar that is perfect for a quick little retreat with great cocktails on your way to/from the room. This is a great hotel for friends or get-away couples. While there is no pool. you are a stones throw away from dozens of restaurants and a prime beach location with views of Diamond Head. Check it out!

Yelp
I would give them all the stars. The employees are super sweet and helpful. I stayed here for 3 days & the hotel is walking distance to all the shops & restaurants. Rooms are beautiful & the hotel has a downstairs bar & the bartender is nice & friendly. I would definitely be back here the next time I visit Hawaii. If you're planning to stay in Honolulu then this hotel is the place to be! Definitely worth your money !

Yelp
Hawaii, Honolulu is a wonderful place. I breathed the shock caused by huge buildings and lots of incredible landscapes. The highest rate for Honolulu. However, the hotel renew is not good enough because: 1) small parking 2) cleaning room service (recharge) Although you hang it outside your room, you should call the front desk to let them know you need to clean up. If not, they won't do it. I stayed there for 3 nights. The first day, I left recharge outside my room when I went on a morning until I came back at 3 P.M they didn't clean. I called the front desk, they said sorry and ask me still I need to clean up. It is the same at the second and third day. 3) No meals and they sell food and drink ( nothing free, except ice and beach shower towers). Hope you guys will have a good time on Honolulu and enjoy what you choose.

Yelp
We were very excited to stay at this 4-star hotel but when we got there it just didn't feel like it was up to par. I had done a lot of research prior to staying here, but it seems like about of the reviews are outdated and they don't include much of anything anymore. Upon arrival, the front desk person had to run out to move some cars because there were cars blocking in another customer. We had to wait for that before getting our room keys. They didn't have a free breakfast in the morning nor coffee available all day. The room was overall nice, but there were little details that were bothersome such as chipped paint and smelly shower curtains. Staying at a 4-star hotel I just expected it to be more luxurious and include more amenities. We did not have any problems during this stay besides the check in incident, but the minute details were not great.
