Very close to the beach and to cafes, restaurants yet quiet. The road noise one floor up seems to be from cars on the cobbled street rather than the cars themselves and the cars are infrequent. Clean rooms, just a bit tired/dated, with tiny balcony. Simple breakfast, easy check in. The bar is closed on Sundays. The proximity to the beach is the main selling feature.

Valentine, the man who runs the bar in the lobby of this hotel, is the reason this hotel gets 5 stars from. While the wonderful balconies and beach front location of this hotel justify overlooking the extremely sparse room amenities and borderline unacceptable bathroom facilities in the rooms (or at least our room), the glowing review that I want to give is because of the gem 💎 that is Valentine. In the way that only a very skilled server can, Valentine provides you with a sense of belonging in Salema, a city that was unknown to me in a country that was unknown to me, surrounded by a language that was mostly unknown to me. It is a gift for any traveler who craves those connections that feel authentic and natural and provide a brief window into Portuguese life . Valentine provides that and for as long as he is there I will only come back to this hotel and go to his bar. ❤️ The hotel breakfast is also top notch (without being obnoxiously over board) and all the staff is extremely friendly and helpful- the facilities are dated and clearly being maintained as well as any small family run hotel can be.

It is not a state of the art modern hotel but it is exceptionally clean, family run hotel with lovely helpful staff and that means more. Exceptional location and all rooms have a sea view. This is our third stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to come again.

When it comes to lodging in Salema there are limited choices and this one is the main hotel right on the beach. The town is small so everything is right out the door. The staff were friendly, the room was fine and sleep was good and quiet. I would stay here again. Most of the rooms have partial beach views only so ask if this is important to you. The only downside is they have no parking just for the hotel, all the surrounding parking is public and fills up fast so it could be a challenge to find a spot but they are all free. Lots of good restaurants close by. Good option if you are planning a stay at this lovely beach town.

Great location, right on the beach. Multigenerational family owned, great people, always willing to help. On site bar, say Hi to Valentin. Easy walking distance to 3 great restaurants that we know of. Well situated about halfway between Sagres & Lagos. Bring a cooler - no in-room refrigerators. Beds were great. Slept like rocks - could have been the wine.

Just returned home to UK after a glorious week in this perfect little hotel in the heart of Salema , a few steps away from the stunning beach … |A very traditional Portuguese family run hotel hosted by Catarina a charming lady who engages with her clients on a daily basis to check they are ok . |Friendly helpful staff , Bruna in the kitchen made special eggs for my husband in the mornings , the bedrooms are simple but spotlessly clean with crisp white bed linen changed almost every day ! |Alex on reception is so helpful and Valentine in the bar , what can we say , he is full of character , a super Barman! …. |Thankyou to all of you , |We will be back for sure ! |Love Bob Karen , Paul & Mandy !

I can’t submit a full detailed review based on the overnight stay however my review is based on the bar and what I would like to say is the barman is very friendly just what I expect he makes you feel at home. Very welcoming. I have visited this bar many times through my 30 years of coming to Salema and I must say it is the only bar I drink in Salema. The atmosphere is laid-back and cosy. Just what you need after a meal or before you venture up the hill to your apartment. I would say you can’t improve carry on what you’re doing you’re doing it well

This is a very nice hotel right in the middle of Salema. The room rates were very good. The rooms, while not quite modern we're clean and we'll maintained. There was a flat screen TV mounted to the wall and a great View from the balcony. There was a lively hotel bar and some very good restaurants. Most of the rooms don't have bathtubs, o,nly stand up showers. While not a fault of the hotel, parking is very difficult. There is a nice breakfast with good food but the coffee tasted like it was instant. Waking up to the sound of ocean waves is worth the price of admission.
