The photo was taken from my room!!! So I give this hotel 5 stars no matter what ❤️ The hotel(/hostel) surprisingly cheap. And also comes with free breakfast and it subtracts all the negatives about this hotel . +Free breakfast! Breads, ham, salami, cheese, yogurts, boiled eggs, apple, tea, coffee, juices… With the numbers of showers/ washing facilities it’s got, there will be a wait in the busy season. But I stayed when it was quiet, and didn’t have to wait. +it was maintained really tidy and clean. I never use plates and cutlery in the hostel because of how disgusting it can be. But this is the first place where I didn’t mind using them. +Shower and toilet were clean too. +the staff were friendly and nice too - kitchen only has kettle and microwave so if you were thinking of cooking, this isn’t the right accommodation. ( we didn’t mind at all as we were still getting proper breakfast & having noodles for dinner) - on Sunday, the door from kitchen to outside is closed, and that was pretty much only one thing I disliked about this hotel. Many of us loved the outdoor table and having dinner there, but with the kitchen door closed. It was a bit of long trip to go around. But still able to do so, just more complicated. It will be really nice if the hotel makes us to be able to use that door even on Sunday! - there were some rooms without the window, wouldn’t be the best nights if you get to sleep on those sides.

Spent 3 nights in a room with a private bath. Rooms were comfortable and basic with no fridge. There was a small common table, in room safe and small television with windows on 2 sides of the building. Pillows were a bit soft, but bed was comfortable.||Check in was easy. Bernadette was nice enough and explained everything succinctly. No questions permitted until she was done with the monolog, which did answer most questions.||Dinner mains were good on both nights as was the cheese plate and beer. We dined on the outside deck on the first night with sweeping views of the snow capped mountain.||Breakfasts were modest continental style self serve: bread, cheese, cold cuts, jams, boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, juices and coffee. Seating was inside only and there were many flies each morning. Bit a of a nuisance.||Carrying bags up to the second floor wasn't easy on the spiral staircase. After hours access was through the basement with a coded door lock. We felt safe.||Easy access by bus (limited hours) or short walk from town, up a short hill.||Katerina, the hostess was very nice and answered all of our questions. Bernadette and Jurg seemed to be all business, avoided small talk, but respectful and more formal, Swiss style - nice enough.

I loved they had kind of private kids play in the dining area. My son definitely needed it. Thank you. The view is amazing and everything is very clean.

The hotel location and views are superb, the check-in was easy and fast, friendly staff, we had very nice dinner, my only big two concerns was that this hotel has no air conditioning or ventilation system or at least net on windows to prevent insects from coming inside the room during sleeping keeping us sleep like in sauna, we couldn't sleep normally with kids for the two nights, second big issue was for me carrying 4 heavy bags on my shoulder up two floors, 44 steps (you can see it on the photos) and taking it down on check out without any help as the hotel doesn't has help service, Anyway, this small hotel is not suitable for families with luggage and kids, it could be good for couples who get used to sleep without air conditioning and closed widows with small bags.

We stayed for three nights whilst touring. Our room was basic but clean and had a lovely view of the mountains. |The house is quite noisy as it's shared toilets/bathrooms and being wooden it creaks and isn't really insulated for sound. Earplugs are a good idea. |The shared facilities are fine, they were right outside our room so good for us, plus there is a room with kettle, microwave and plates etc. No fridge though which would be a massive advantage. |The room only had one plug by the sink which was awkward to use, extra plugs would be good. Wifi was good. |Bed and bedding was comfortable. |Breakfast was ok, included but basic. Hard boiled eggs, meats, cheese, some cereal, bread, juice, coffee, fruit. The bread was lovely and warm. |We only had evening meal one night at the hotel, all food in Switzerland is pricey and we weren't massively impressed so we had microwave meals for two nights and saved lots. We had soups in the town for lunch which was nice. |Male member of staff checked us in and was friendly and helpful. The two ladies we encountered on the evenings were not, quite abrupt and unfriendly. The housekeepers made the beds and were friendly. |For the price it's a lovely choice, you are close enough to town to walk, about 15 mins and it's quieter than staying in the town centre. We would stay again if in the area |

Very good value for money. The managers and their staff work very hard to serve you. Is a very clean maintained but authentic (old) hotel, so you have to accept that you have less privacy than in the much more expensive hotels. I write exceptional reviews but out of sympathy for the managers and their staff I wish to do so.

A traditional older style chalet hotel adjacent to the main road, soe distance from the village centre, but with bus stop right outside, (both ways!)|The bedrooms were adequate, and the evening meal was also adequate. The breakfast was modest, but the setting was magnificent looking straight over the valley to The Eiger and its glacier. The owner seemed a little surly and didnt seeminterested in entering into a conversation with us, however the staff were excellent.|Nothing is good value in Switzerland and especially Grindelwald, but this was acceptable. Good free parking to the side and opposite is a bonus.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel! The bed was super comfortable and breakfast was substantial. The view from our window was stunningly beautiful! Hiking up out of the main part of town was worth the views!! The only downside was sharing the bathroom, but I showered at night and didn't see anyone else around. The whole place was very clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. I'd definitely return.
