Benvengudo (Les Baux de Provence, French Riviera / Provence) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It doesn’t take a Latin scholar to guess that in the traditional dialect of Provence, “benvengudo” means “welcome” — and you don’t have to be a travel journalist to begin to guess what you can expect from a hotel with a name like Hotel Restaurant Benvengudo, in a place like Les Baux de Provence. It’s a classic country-house hotel, set on seven acres of parkland and gardens, in the shadow of the Château des Baux-de-Provence. The setting is perfectly typical of the region, with views of lavender fields, olive groves, and the peaks of the Alpilles." - Tablet Hotels

Beautiful place, people very nice, service very good but the person at breakfast was crossed because we knew the name of the room but not the number. Anyway breakfast was very good…what pleased me most is the garden and of course the environment! Everyone was enchanted with the place. Reception very helpful, very near to the most visited place Provence. Swimming pool was nice!

Beautiful place for this short family holiday. Restaurant for breakfast and dinner was excellent. Great location and beautiful surroundings. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful when we had a problem with our daughters late arrival. Would highly recommend and we will return.

Very nice property, unfortunately, close to the street. Very neat garden, clean pool, and very good breakfast (unfortunately too much on the sweet side). We stayed there for two weeks in a suite and would have appreciated a friendlier welcome (we did not feel welcome when we checked in) and a more accommodating service (the usual answer was no, e.g a vase, espresso with two scoops of vanilla ice-cream instead of one (which we would have of course paid)) . The gentleman at the breakfast was very attentive and friendly, and the same goes for the cleaning staff.

If you are looking for amazing service, this is not the stay for you. The surrounding villages are beautiful but manage your expectations accordingly. There is no bar service next to the pool despite a bar physically present. The staff are simply not proactive and do not have a clear management team on site as there are only 2 people fielding the requests of all guests.

A wonderful and very exclusive hotel with a unique atmosphere. Unfortunately we only had the time to stay one night. Overall very pricey but the location and quality are worth the price I would say. Definitely a recommendation for those who can afford it.

this is a lovely small hotel with all the right amenities, perfectly situated to explore surrounding tourist attractions like Château des Baux-de-Provence & Carrieres de Limieres (5min by car), Arles, Nimes or even Orange (1h by car)

Our unforgettable stay in Provence: Warm hospitality, extraordinary food, and enchanting surroundings. Our stay at this charming hotel was an experience to remember. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the extraordinary food served at lunch and dinner. The talented chefs crafted culinary masterpieces, showcasing the finest flavors of the region. Downsides: Slight breakfast chaos (eggs never arrived or were badly cooked) odd suitcase smell from hotel room after unpacking at home. The super friendly staff made it special. Highly recommended.

Yelp
There's NOT ONE thing I don't love about this place! LOCATION: Very central to all of Provence. Easy drive to Avignon, Axe, and Cassis, and Marseille. So close to Baux it makes it easy to beat the crowds in the mornings or linger later and have the whole town to yourself. Very convenient to several restaurants close by and hiking and nature all around. Many areas around you can see the sea in the distance. It's a quiet place surrounded by beauty, but you can still get dinner at 11 pm. At the heart of the mountainous Alpilles region this area is a spectacular spectacle to take in with jewel hilltop towns and unbeatable cuisine. All around are olive groves and wine producers to visit QUALITY: The grounds are meticulously kept, the rooms seem brand new with high end finishes, and a comfortable bed. The staff provides impeccable service at your beckon request, going above and beyond the call of duty. The food is top notch, elegant without being fussy. This is a place that induces relaxation and carries you easily into a zen state of mind. The pool is heated to a comfortable temperature, even into October! VALUE: Overall, this feels like a 5 STAR establishment, but the pricing won't gouge your pockets. As you drive through the gated entrance and down the lavender, cypress, and fruit-tree lined way...the layers of stress will fall away and you will fully feel the effects of being in the French countryside, and everything behind that way of life. Enjoy life to its full, take long lunches with friends, drink wine plentifully, olive oil is the liquid of the gods, the air is perfumed, the sun is warm, the breeze is mesmerizing. You just might not want to ever leave.

Yelp
We had a wonderful visit. There were 4 of us. We spent 2 nights. The rooms are spacious. There are slippers & robes. We had cookies & sparkling water awaiting us in the room when we arrived. The staff couldn't have been nicer. They were always so helpful & cheery & smiling. We were there in October & went in the pool. Breakfast was nice. Great place to stay. Very quiet & good sleeping.

Yelp
We stayed there for four nights in August 2013. It was a superb experience. We had the Cote Bastide suite upstairs in the main building, with separate bedroom and a living room. Very nice and a perfect view over the front garden. Newly renovated and in excellent condition. We had dinner twice at the restaurant sitting outside in the front garden. Absolutely lovely! Exquisite food and service, usually a set 4 course menu. The chef is extremely talented. In addition, the wine pairing to the food was to die for! We tried two other restaurants around Les Beaux-de-Provence, but nothing compared to Benvengudo! The swimming pool is nice and the morning breakfast is fresh and completely satisfactory. The staff was very professional and extremely helpful and nice. We are planning to return!!!!!! Highly recommended!

Yelp
We stayed there for three nights with the family. It's not just the Hotel, it's the combination of the whole area which makes this place ..."magic". We stayed the nights before in Monaco and Nice and arriving at Benvengudo felt like vacation has finally started. The Staff was very friendly and professional and payed attention which made our stay memorable. The room service was fantastic and more then plenty. I can not recommend this place more. If you go there for a romantic weekend or with the whole family. You will create a memory that last. We will come again.

Yelp
To call this a 4-Star Hotel is ludicrous. To rate it a 3-Star property is even stretching it. The "minibar" consisted of a refrigerator with one small bottle of Evian and one small bottle of sparkling water. The "coffee and tea making facility" was a hot water pot. All other balconies and patios had a table and two chairs. Ours had no table. They are wicker and lightweight, so my husband and I requested a table, for our drinks, phones, newspapers, etc. The answer we got was NO, with no explanation. We then asked for a Nespresso machine, after we learned that other rooms had them. We enjoy having our coffee early, before breakfast, which is served between 8:00 and 10:30. Again, the answer was NO with no explanation. Nor could we go down and get a pot of coffee before 8:00 a.m. When we did go down to breakfast, the coffee was weak and certainly not worth the wait. Our room was a Cote Jardin, one of the "nicer" single rooms. It was OK, perhaps on par with a Best Western or Holiday Inn. The towels are stiff and small. The housekeeping staff didn't empty our overflowing wastebasket and left one of our pillows on a chair, with its case thrown on the floor. Do NOT waste your money or precious vacation time on this poor excuse for a "luxury" hotel.

Yelp
I am a tough grader... Three stars is pretty good! My wife and I stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon. It is nothing amazing... but overall it was a very nice place to start our vacation. The grounds are fantastic... Nice pool, beautiful landscaping, well maintained property and building... Our room was nice and had no flaws with a big and nice bathroom. A warning for late eaters: we arrived very tired after and overnight flight and drive and overslept our reservation in les baux. Apparently, even on a Saturday in the late spring, places will not even serve you after 9 - we tried about 4 places and were turned aside. We were out of luck and a bit down when it looked like we would have no meal on our first night there - we retired to the hotel. After several tries I finally convinced (language barrier) a young chambermaid to bring us an assortment of delicious cheeses and fresh bread and we washed it down with some of the nice champagne in the minibar. In the end it was one of our more memorable meals. The staff was not overly warm and friendly but very professional. It is a reasonably priced hotel for the region and we enjoyed it. Not a highlight but it provided a good home base for us to explore provence, the riviera, aix etc etc.
