Hotel-Restaurant Bernerhof

Stunning hotel and restaurant situated in the Swiss Alps within close proximity to many ski resorts. Stayed there whilst our group stayed at the nearby International Scout Centre… and it didn’t disappoint. Our hosts are a beautiful family who greeted everyone each morning, noon and night with the same smile, enthusiasm and warmth and made our stay absolutely memorable.

My partner, her dog and myself had the best experience having dinner there last week. It is just as described, a family owned and managed establishment and both the owners go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome. We came that evening just for the restaurant as we had found another place to stay for the night but decided to eat there and were really happy we did. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. Thank you for this special moment!

I cannot say enough good things about Bernerhof. I read every review on every site for every hotel in the area and we decided on Bernerhof because another review had mentioned that they were sweet to them when they had their elopement there. We stayed at Bernerhof for four nights with our entire family (10 adults, 4 children), and they were so accommodating. The breakfast spread is delicious and filling, the front desk staff is so friendly, and the location truly cannot be beat. We have traveled all over the world and the views from the Bernerhof hotel balcony are hands down the best. They're located in the center of town, just a short walk from the gondola up to Oeschinensee, and easy access to anywhere else in town, including the transit stops. Traveling overseas was a bit challenging for the little ones in our group, but the Bernerhof has a children's playroom and they were so so sweet to the children even when they were a little rambunctious. Staying at the Bernerhof felt like staying with family, just with really fancy and comfortable accommodations. They went above and beyond to make our stay in Kandersteg memorable and they made our micro wedding extra special with all of their thoughtful touches and customizations - our trip and wedding would not have been the same without them. I cannot recommend the Bernerhof highly enough - thank you again to Claudia and Gerhard and the entire staff for a stay of a lifetime!

We booked for a room with mountain view. We were disappointed with the view from our room as it was facing the roof of the neighbouring property.

First off, the staff at this hotel are amazing! Friendly and very attentive. Our room was very spacious with an outstanding view. It had comfortable beds along with a large sitting area. The bathroom was large also which is not always the case in European hotels. And everything was spotless! Breakfast was well done with many choices. Dinner was outstanding! Probably the best dinner that we had on our trip in Switzerland. Again, the service was attentive and warm throughout dinner. We will be back if in Kandersteg again!

I can’t thank Claudia and Gerhard enough for this truly magical stay - everything was perfect. We travel quite extensively and this place , the service they provided made this one of our most favorite stays. We dined there every night and it was amazing each time - we also always looked forward to the breakfast spread! The rooms are very clean with breathtaking views of the mountains. You will not regret staying at this hotel.

We loved our spacious room with epic mountain views! And Claudia and Gerhard are wonderful hosts! Each morning at breakfast we had a printout of the menu of the day, weather, and jokes in three languages 😄 We also appreciated the onsite washer and dryer, free parking, and trekking poles to borrow. We had an amazing first visit to this gorgeous Alpine town!

We stayed at Bernerhof during our trip to Kandersteg and really liked it. Cozy hotel with a warm mountain vibe, comfy room and a great view of the peaks. Breakfast was simple and basic but good quality and enough to start the day. Staff were super friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome. Would definitely stay here again.
