Hotel-Restaurant Bernerhof

Just returned from 3 nights over Christmas visiting our daughter at KISC scout camp. The Hotel Bernerhof was amazing, placed in the centre of town a short walk from the train station. We received an extremely warm welcome from Claudia & Gerhard who made us feel like family. The staff were all lovely nothing was too much trouble. Our room had a view of a massive snow covered mountain, without doubt the best hotel balcony view we have ever seen. The food was delicious prepared with obvious care and fresh continental breakfast every morning. Even when we had a moment of panic regarding our daughter getting back to camp, Claudia came to the rescue absolutely amazing.|A million thanks to everyone at the Bernerhof for making our Christmas so unforgettable.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay here. The hotel is in an amazing position right in the centre of the village and directly opposite the direct path to the gondola station. Our room had the best view I've ever seen looking up to the high mountains. It was immaculately clean and very large. The food was exceptional in the restaurant, the best dinners we have ever had in Switzerland. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The hosts were so friendly, professional and kind, and couldn't do enough for you. We will definitely go back and recommend to anyone.

I would not hesitate to recommend this treasure of a hotel . This is our fifth visit and we have never been disappointed. I would definitely rate it five star in terms of location, food and service. Claudia and Gerhard Lehmann are the most generous and hospitable hosts you could wish for. So friendly and accommodating. The whole team are amazing and a special thanks to Claudia on the front desk who is incredibly helpful and kind.|The views from our room and the accessibility to many wonderful walks and rail travel right from the hotel makes this a very special place indeed.|We cannot wait to return for visit number six! ❤️

26-29 September 2024 I recently stayed at the Bernerhof Swiss Quality Hotel with a group of five women for my first hiking experience, and it was truly memorable. The hotel, with its charming wood chalet exterior and warmly lit, cosy interiors, created the perfect atmosphere for our mountain getaway. Our rooms were clean and offered stunning views of the surrounding mountains and nature, allowing us to fully appreciate the beauty of Kandersteg. While the bathrooms were somewhat outdated, this is a minor point in an otherwise flawless stay. The real highlight of the experience was the incredible hospitality. The team was warm, attentive, and truly committed to making sure we had a wonderful time. From the thoughtful table settings at dinner to the beautifully plated dishes, every detail was attended to with care. The staff also made sure we were well-informed about nearby hiking trails, ensuring that we felt both prepared and cared for during our adventure. Overall, the level of care and service at Bernerhof was exceptional, and I highly commend the team for their dedication. I wouldn’t hesitate to return for another stay!

We cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had this August at the Hotel Bernerhof. The hotel enjoys the best location in Kandersteg and our lovely double room had spectacular views of the valley up to the towering peaks of the Doldernhorn and Bluemlisalphorn. The room was scrupulously clean, well appointed and comfortable in typical Swiss style, with a nice en-suite bathroom and plentiful hot water. What makes the hotel truly special are the owners and hosts, Claudia and Gerhard. They take a personal interest in each guest and every day have a different and special way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. We enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast each morning and dinners were truly something special. Every morning and night Claudia changes the decorations and table appointments with flowers, linens, birds and hearts. The food was excellent and artfully presented. The hosts and kitchen were able to accommodate some very stringent dietary concerns with grace and style. We would give Claudia, Gerhard and the Bernerhof 100 stars if we could. We look forward to another visit.

Breathtaking views from my room’s balcony. The hotel atmosphere is cozy, quiet and clean. Walking distance to bus, grocery store, cable car and hiking trail to lake oeschinen. It’s a great stay for visiting Oeschinensee, Blausee (take the bus 230) and other surrounding areas. Breakfast is provided and I met the very friendly kitty who came to me for some hugs 😊 Strongly recommend and will definitely come back if I visit Kandesteg again!

Stayed at the Bernerhof with my hiking partner during our Via Alpina hike on September 2024, and had a great time. The room was fantastic, the staff were super friendly and helpful, breakfast was great. Highly recommended.
