The hotel is conveniently located in the old city with loads of shops, cafés, restaurants and landmarks around. The room was overlooking the street so it was quite noisy and because there is no airco it's quite difficult to sleep if you want to have the window open. The bed was large and confortable, the room itself of a decent size, the bathroom is small but well equipped and water is really hot (be careful!). There is a safe in the cuppboars, as well as a hairdryer and a fan. Small TV on the wall facing the bed with loads of channels. Free tea and coffee with a kettle. No fridge to store your water and an amazing pillow menu. The breakfast was included and there is enough choice - it's not a huge buffet but nothing to complain about. The breakfast room is big enough to welcome all guests. The staff is very nice, it's quiet in the hotel itself. If you come back after 22H, the door is locked so make sure you have your room card with you to get back inside. We walked from the station, it's more or less 10 to 15 minutes depending on how fast you walk. Bern is well connected to the airport of Zürich by train.

Being honest, the hotel is cheap and you get a lot of stuff for this price. Good rooms with proper bathrooms. At Sumer there is no ac and it’s pretty hot but most of the hotels don’t. Service is good. Hotel located in an unbelievable location, genuinely the center of the town. So I definitely advise to book it, especially when you see the price of it!

The hotel is located in a nice spot of Old Town Bern, giving anyone who stays a variety of spots to explore. The situation with the bathroom some people speak of is unique. As the centuries passed, someone had to create a way to install modern plumbing and amenities. What you'll experience is how they put together those conveniences. Breakfast was good and the reception staff was very helpful.

Excellent location. I don't think you can find a better one, unless you travel by train and want to stay closer to the Bahnhof. We came by car and were able to park outside at check-in and check-out. Parking was in the public Parkhaus Rathaus which was about 5 minutes away, where we also got a discounted price through the hotel. The rooms were of a decent standard, a little noise from the street on a Saturday night, but that's to be expected in such a central location. Didn't get to try the restaurant, but the food looked good. Decent breakfast. Very nice staff who communicated well in English.

The hotel is clean, staffs are cheerful and helpful. We enjoy the buffet breakfast very much, and it’s worth of including it in your stay. We love everything!

The location of the hotel was perfect—walking distance within all the main attractions in Bern’s Old Town. The rooms were simple and clean, and had all you needed, especially if you’re here for only a couple of days like we were. We were disappointed to learn that our room did not, in fact, have a balcony, as was advertised in the photos that accompany our room reservation details. The balcony and its view overlooking the old part of town was what really sold us on booking this hotel. After checking into our room and seeing that we only had a window with a partial view of the street, I reviewed the room details in my reservation confirmation and noticed that a balcony is not specifically mentioned, but it does say “city views” which can be misleading considering a photo of the balcony was included in our reservation. Not sure who handles the photos and advertising for this property, but I would suggest updating the photos and description of each room so that each is accurately represented when people book reservations. After reading some other reviews, I noticed we were not the only ones who experienced this. Again, not the biggest deal considering we spent most of our time outside exploring Bern and its surrounding areas. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh bread, meats and cheeses, and the staff were very friendly. I definitely want to stay here again when I return, (but this time hopefully in the room with a balcony 😄). Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bern for a few days.

I was here with my family from the States and this place was pretty good but way overpriced. The rooms were clean and comfy but the bathrooms were a bit weird. We did not like how the bathroom was in a box in the corner. It made the toilet flush very loud. It was also super tiny and hard for more than one person to enter at the same time, but very clean. The beds were comfortable and the staff was wonderful! We were able to leave our stuff behind the counter while our room was getting prepared. They also gave us a recommendation for a place to park which was nice. However, there is no parking at the hotel. The breakfast and drinks were pretty good but not amazing. Overall, I would come back here again and recommend this place to others.

This super old but super wonderful hotel is right in the heart of Bern old town, and is such a great place to stay. |I traveled solo and easily found my way there from the main train station. |The room was sparkling clean and at the back of the building so it was quiet. |The window opens so you can enjoy the fresh air and tinkling bells of the Zytglogge (clock tower). |The breakfast was plenty and the bed was super comfortable.

Yelp
my first check in here. i was on a Masonic journey, and i stayed here the first night of it. great location and great hotel, i have become accustomed to European living..... small and what you only need. i check in and chatted with the hotel clerk. she informed me of where to grab trains, buses, food, drink, and of course, entertainment. i walked up to my room and i tell ya, i simply love the small rooms. as Americans are accustomed to large rooms, this was a breath of fresh air. everything screamed European....i loved it. breakfast the following morning was in the adjoining restaurant. breakfast included meats, cheeses, bread, fruit, juice and coffee. i hope my traveling brings me back here, i enjoyed it very much.

Yelp
Great location. Not a great hotel. We had a room for 2 people and it should have been a single. I almost think they lied and gave us a single. We couldn't walk past each other, there was barely 6 inches around the bed. The pictures on their website do not show the miniature room that we stayed in. Be wary.
