Hôtel Restaurant La Couleuvrine

Stayed here a few nights with a group of friends. This is a nicely located hotel three or four minutes walk into the town centre. There is lots of parking immediately opposite. Being an old building brings with it lots of character as well as rooms being scattered about over several floors. There is a very small lift, thankfully, that will take guests up to the 1st and 2nd floors. Many rooms however will still require climbing some steps. The rooms vary in size and shape. The first room allocated was itself divided on two floor levels, with a step between, but reception were most helpful and provided an alternative. Although in the annex and smaller, it was perfectly fine. All bedrooms appear to have modern bathroom fittings and were very clean and nicely maintained. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style and, perhaps a bit unusually, included a hot selection as well as continental. Our party took evening meals together in the hotel which was nicely served and to most people’s taste. The hotel's restaurant is popular with local groups for evening party meals. Vegetarians were catered for. Nice selection of local wines from the small bar area. While sadly there is no hotel lounge, the hotel does have tables and chairs immediately outside which makes for a pleasant area for an evening drink in pleasant weather.

This place is lovely. The kitchen and dishes are very tasty, and the waiters are extremely friendly and always in a good mood. The value for money is unheard of, and it’s dog-friendly too. Our waiter, Marie France, along with the entire team, were very kind. Quick, efficient, and top-quality food — what more could one want?

Really frustrated we ended up in a room not in the main hotel, we were not informed this was the case when we booked, if we had been we would have cancelled. Very dark and small, the room went straight onto the street, above the kitchen so noisy till late, mould on the bathroom ceiling. When we queried the fact we were not in the hotel, we were told we should of had a message to tell us this, we didn’t receive this, no apology, just that all the other rooms were booked a year ago? Odd explanation, no reaction to us stating there was mould on the bathroom ceiling, just carried on charging us the tourist tax. It’s a pity, as it’s in a good position and the rest of the hotel looks nice.

Beautiful hotel in perfect location right in the centre of town. Restaurant food was superb. Highly recommended.

Very well-located, right by the entrance to the old town. Charming hotel with lots of history, but the rooms can be a little hit or miss. Most of the rooms are serviced by a tint elevator, but some required walking up flights of stairs. Half our party got to stay at the top of the tower, which had air-conditioning. The other half stayed above the restaurant, which had no AC in a heatwave (though they did provide a standing fan). Ah well. It was a fun experience! Hotel staff were very friendly. The restaurant sent up food when I had to take a work call. When there was a wifi issue, the front desk staff got it looked at and fixed fairly quickly. Breakfast is a bit repetitive but had incredible fresh fruit salad and croissants. Overall, a very fun stay!

We were visiting family and wanted a hotel within walking distance of restaurants and bars. This hotel fits that perfectly. We were in the Main Street market on Saturday morning within minutes. |The initial greeting was friendly. |Our room was on the 2nd floor, accessed by a tiny lift. The room itself was reasonably sized with a modern toilet and bathroom worked well into the old building. |The only downside was no air con, but we were able to leave the window open and the fan on. |The bed was comfortable with plugs on the bed side tables. |We met friends for lunch on the Saturday and ate outside. The fixed priced menu was excellent and well priced. |We will return next year.

Lovely location we had planned and booked this two night trip with care. Then we had an awful room, the door of which did not lock, the terrace was filthy and the vent from the kitchen was outside the bathroom window. The terrace was open to the public, and we found beer. Bottles dumped there on our return to the room.

We really enjoyed our stay at La Couleuvrine. We loved that the building is an old rampart tower from the 15th century, and we got to stay at the very top! We loved the atmosphere of the place -- it fit in perfectly with the town. The location was perfect. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast good, the room comfortable and fun. We had a car and did pay the 15 euro a nice for a nice safe gated parking area about a 5-10 minute walk away.

Very nice. We stayed at the hotel and ate here because we were too hot and tired to walk anymore. The fois gras was very good. The confit was excellent. The lamb shank was fantastic. Good value in Sarlat.
