A group of four of us spent 3 nights here while walking on the Chemin de St Jacques. Most enjoyable and highly recommended. Staff were really nice and friendly and helpful. Rooms were nicely appointed, comfortable bed, very good bathroom including a drier which was useful when we rinsed out our shirts, etc! We didn't eat at the restaurant which was a bit posh for our walking clothes (!), but the breakfast was excellent, with lots of local products (yoghurts, cheese, honey) and fresh fruit. I would definitely return here the next time I am in Le Puy. The location is excellent, close to the town centre, cathedral and restaurants, and the railway station.

We stayed for 2 nights. Standard room was excellent. Everything we needed including a great shower and tea/coffee making facilities. The clincher was secure parking for 8 euros p/n. Street parking is difficult with mostly metered parking. The hotel also has an excellent French restaurant you will not be disappointed with. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Recommend.

We had a delightful quiet room at the rear of the property. The decor is unusual and the floor was marbleised. A secure car park was available at little extra cost. The staff were very friendly offering us coffee only in the morning instead of a full breakfast. It is well positioned for a stroll round the city. We did not eat in the restaurant preferring the less formal setting of a local restaurant.

Stayed at this hotel for one night on a visit to this most interesting town. Unfortunately our choice of hotel proved not to be a good one. The room - basically felt a bit like a prison cell. Polished concrete floor did nothing to make us fell comfortable, most of the painted surfaces were silver, curtains were ill fitting, toilet was so small you could hardly sit down and close the door, and the bathroom had been very poorly renovated at some stage. So all in all you certainly wouldn't stay there expecting a nice room.||The restaurant - we went down to the restaurant and were shown our table. It was not particularly busy and there were maybe three or four staff "serving". Only problem was they seemed totally disinterested in serving us. We sat for at least 20-30 minutes before a man, we assumed was the owner, approached us for our order. No greetings, no smile, in fact a little earlier we had heard him shouting orders every time he went into the kitchen. Not a good thing for a restaurant. ||Again we were disappointed with the quality and presentation of the food. ||We couldn't help notice the attitude of all the staff, very sombre and not welcoming, and we concluded it must have been a result of the very grumpy owner or manager.||If you are looking at a web site such as booking.com with photos of this hotel, the rooms looked nothing like the room or bathroom that we had .||If you are planning a visit to Le Puy en Velay which we can thoroughly recommend, don't stay at Le Regina, pick somewhere else. It purports to be 3 star, make that 1 star

I am only reviewing the restaurant of Hotel Regina in Le Puy. We stopped for lunch at this restaurant as we have visited it five years ago and it is still very good. Food beautifully presented, waiters were very friendly, unobtrusive but very efficient. Service was of the old style and one felt very relaxed. We had the set menu and although was offered the English version we decided to work it out ourselves so had goat instead of what I thought was venison! However it was excellent and quite a surprise!

This hotel is really between poor and average rating. It is an easy walk up to the cathedral, and was recommended for that purpose. However, do not expect much because although the management is accommodating, you have a cheap hotel dressed in old garments of glory. It is poorly kept, not as clean as you would expect, and considering the various options for eating around the town, I would not recommend the Restaurant. if you plan to stay in Le Puy more than one day, then stay in another hotel. This is a budget hotel, so if you like this kind of facilities then you would find it quite acceptable. Do. It expect much, and you will have a pleasant stay.

Dinner at the restaurant was surprisingly good. The menu was interesting with some variety. We had the scallops and they were excellent.||Service was helpul and our room was clean.||Its a block from the train station so its conveniently located.

Stayed overnight en route to Calais. Friendly staff and good location. The hotel is within easy walk of the cathedral, on the edge of the old town. The parking is classic "old French hotel" - short on space but secure and close. Nice room with good air con and wifi.
