Went to this hotel with high expectations, but overall disappointing experience. Upon arrival no explanation about the hotel from the receptionist (no information about the sauna, dinner, wifi…). The hotel was not aware that we had booked half board. We had to ask for this ourselves and after much difficulty we were able to reserve a table in the restaurant. The next day the same problem, with much difficulty they were able to free a table for us, even though we had booked half board well before. Someone from the hotel staff refused to serve us because she did not speak English. |Very outdated room with musty smell. Hygiene is an area for improvement (toothpaste splashes on the mirror, hair of previous guest in bathroom ...). Bathroom is also very small.|The only positive thing about this hotel is the food which we really enjoyed.

The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was cleaned daily and provided with new towels when needed. The service was very customer-oriented. Highly recommended!

This is about the restaurant at this hotel. Excellent classic fare. Had a great fish soup (with rouille!) followed by rainbow trout filleted at the table. This was accompanied by a little can of melted butter (yum) and lemon parts with that little metal tool that let's you press out the juice (as I said, classic).

We, for some reason had the disabled room! Very spacious, large comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Staff were excellent and most spoke good English. Right next to the river and plenty of eating places in the town, although after the first night's dinner we ate in the hotel each night. Lovely verandas for outside eating and drinking. Excellent menu, plus good veggies choice, and they would cook other German specialities (schnitzel) if wanted! Many very good local Mayschoss/Altenahr wines, red and white. Breakfast substantial! Wine tasting places close to the hotel. Good walks through the woods, some steep climbs but worth it for the views. Would definitely go again.

Stayed two nights on a wine tasting trip in early May 2018. Rooms are very nice and spacious; loved the modern (yet functional) layout and architecture. The Brunnenhaus is well buit - no noise at all at night so you get a good night sleep after a few wine tastings. The only minor thing: I wish they would have proper shower gel and shampoo instead of those small plastic bag ones that are very hard to open. Breakfast: great choice both in terms of quality and quantity. Restaurant: had a drink one evening in their lower terrace next to the river: ok, though with very limited selection but still of good quality. The second evening, had a night cup on their restaurant terrace: great wine list and - as always - very friendly and efficient service.

We know the area quite well and stayed here last in 2003, it was good then it is better now. The neighbouring hotel has now been totally redeveloped to provide 12 truly excellent, modern and comfortable large rooms with seating area, walk in shower with separate WC, and sizable dressing area. A small balcony overlooks the Ahr river. The restaurant provides above average food in a lovely atmosphere, we were made most welcome. The hotel does not need to advertise was extremely busy so it is essential to book, even for a table at dinner.

Visited the restaurant on a Tuesday evening and it was packed. Make sure you have a reservation. I ordered the fried trout (Forelle Müllerin Art) with fried potatoes and salad. The trout was great, but the skin was a bit burnt. Fried potatoes tasted good, but all the onions were black (pro tip: add the onions add the end). Salad was good as well. I also tried the ratatouille, which was using unusual herbs (Arabian/Indian). I liked it, but not everybody did. Also a bit too oily and salty for my taste. I also tried some of the deserts. The tiramisu consisted of apricot, yoghurt and chocolate crumble and was not really my taste and had not much to do with a classic Tiramisu. The blackberry ice cream was the star of the evening. Outstanding, tasted very homemade. Even though I heavily criticized the food, I think the place deserves 4 stars in total. The atmosphere, service and the surrounding are great.

Stayed in the 2nd week of July. Located in a nice historical town with many activities to offer. Warmly welcomed at the reception and accommodated in a nice large double room fitted with a nice bathroom. Rooms are accessible by lift. Plenty of free car park as well free and strong WiFi signal all over the hotel. Had a set menu for dinner at the restaurant. Food served is on a gourmet level with fine service. Upon check out, a small home made jam jar was handed over as a souvenir. Nice touch. Highly recommended to stay for holidays and even for a stop over.
