There must be renovated and un-renovated rooms at this hotel, because the room I stayed in, on the floor above the restaurant, bears no resemblance to the positive reviews here. My room has been pining for a refurb since 1963. The bed had an ugly, electro-staticky mauve polyester velour cover over a poly quilt and pillows, stretch polyester sheets, and a brown faux leather (i.e., plastic) quilted... decorative mat?? over the foot. Luckily, I found normal cotton percale sheets in the cheap "armoire". The carpeting, bath tile, walls were all dated and sad. At least the power outlets worked and shower was hot enough. But the best thing about that room was leaving it. By contrast, the young hotel staff were warm and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was pretty good. The building is charming and historic. Please renovate that room to bring it up to par!

The historical hotel is very charming and situated in a beautiful area. Kitchen serves delicious meals and the service is extremely nice and helpful! We have stayed at the hotel on several occasions and noticed new amenities and improvements each time. A big plus for comfortable beds, clean and cozy rooms. It's one of those places you want to come back to!!

This is the third year we have stayed at this wonderful hotel and it just keeps getting better...||Matteus and Emma, the owners, are gracious hosts and have created a wonderful environment for guests to relax in a beautifully appointed hotel.||The restaurant is outstanding (try the Harlinger Sour appetizer), the staff is very professional and very friendly and everything we've tried is excellent!

My wife and I stayed there 2 nights and had a fantastic experience. Rooms are newly refurbished and spacious. Hotel is located on the canal and literally 5 mins walk from the city centre. Breakfast was great and we happened to stay on the Frisian night, so we had the chance to discover local cuisine. I have to mention that bar is fully stacked, even with Guinness. We had excellent time. Thank you

Located in the central square of a small village this hotel was perfect. An old building very tastefully modernized, with a good bed and fabulous bathroom. Good wifi. Great breakfast. And just walk down a few stairs and there was a really good restaurant for dinner. Highly recommend.

The owners (a married couple) were very friendly and helpful. So were the staff in the restaurant/bar. It was a B&B type of experience, which both my wife and I really appreciated. In addition the beds we slept in were very comfortable, and our room had a nice view of the canal (we live in Australia so for is it was something unusual/cute). And last but not least, the price was very reasonable.

Just stayed there for 3 nights. Lovely young couple running the hotel who made us very welcome. Spotlessly clean, super spacious room. The food, beer and wine were absolutely delicious. Daily special of 3 courses for €25. Very hard to beat that.||Fabulously situated for town centre bars, cafes and restaurants. Also, 7 minutes walk from train station. Perhaps like a lot of hotels in Holland, the stairs may pose a challenge for more elderly people. Didn’t effect us though!!||All in all, thoroughly enjoyable stay. Very good quality and value for money all round. Would highly recommend and would certainly revisit should I ever return to Harlingen.
