There must be renovated and un-renovated rooms at this hotel, because the room I stayed in, on the floor above the restaurant, bears no resemblance to the positive reviews here.
My room has been pining for a refurb since 1963. The bed had an ugly, electro-staticky mauve polyester velour cover over a poly quilt and pillows, stretch polyester sheets, and a brown faux leather (i.e., plastic) quilted... decorative mat?? over the foot. Luckily, I found normal cotton percale sheets in the cheap "armoire". The carpeting, bath tile, walls were all dated and sad. At least the power outlets worked and shower was hot enough. But the best thing about that room was leaving it.
By contrast, the young hotel staff were warm and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was pretty good. The building is charming and historic. Please renovate that room to bring it up to par!
