Beyond the fact that Melk is a beautiful place to visit, this Hotel was excellent. Friendly service from every member of staff, and the restaurant, too. Breakfast selection and quality were also superb. Room was clean and charming. A great stay!

This place exceeds many 5 star restaurants I reviewed. Mainly due their food and service quality which was just that extra level of care. My wife had the best desert of her life (coupe of sorbet floating in sekt). The waiters were all very considerate. An oiled family business that knows very well what they are doing. You won't find that many places.

Stayed here for one night as we were traveling in between Salzburg and Vienna. The hotel itself is lovely with large, clean rooms and despite being on the main square it was very quiet. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Most importantly, they are less than a 10 minute walk to the Abbey and also provide free parking. We also had the pleasure of having dinner at the restaurant as well as breakfast. Both of which were fantastic and the staff were so nice.

After a tour of the abbey, we wandered down into Melk proper for some lunch. We were lucky to discover this restaurant! Friendly staff, a very interesting menu mixing Austrian and contemporary cuisine and all so delicious. I had the cream of must soup and the vegetarian ravioli wirh creme brulee to top it off. My friend had the beef bouillon, octopus tartare and creme brulee.

We added money to take the larger room for the children. We asked for a baby bed for the child and she simply did not agree and did not offer it of course. and When we left the hotel, the hostess told us that we showered a lot and that it was a waste of water {even though we only showered once} and we also ate a lot at breakfast, I have never heard of a place of accommodation saying such thing, do not recommend

Perfect. Loved every part of this hotel and town. Only comment would be it would be great if some patio tables were smoke free. But that's everywhere...

Come see Margherite and the Ebner Family for a great stay in Melk. The hotel is located in a great location to access all Melk has to offer. We arrived and were greeted by the staff who were in local dress , then shown to a great room, with a really comfortable bed. They had a wine tasting for the guests that highlighted all of the wines of the Wachau Valley. This made for impromptu happy hour with other guests. The restaurant was first rate for both breakfast and dinner, you won't leave hungry. For dessert there is an ice cream store attached right to the hotel, stop and have some!

We stayed here middle of December 2024 and enjoyed every moment of our stay and the charming town of Melk. The staff is warm and welcoming, the room was clean and lovely, and the food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the warm and cozy pub room and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The staff is eager to please and we highly recommend Hotel Restaurant zur Post.

Yelp
Order the Marillen knodel which is the apricot dumpling. It's made to order so there's a little wait. Well worth it. This restaurant is located on a cute street in Melk. Don't know about the rest of the menu/service etc. but this was worth the visit specifically for the apricot dumpling. Not really sweet. The outer part is actually made of potato and flour, add an apricot and boil. Then rolled in bread crumbs sauteed with butter. They also had a nice apricot sauce to add.

Yelp
Very pleasant small restaurant. There were several options for vegetarians, including spinach, mushroom & cheese pierogi. The pierogi were perfectly prepared with freshly made pasta and served with an excellent salad of micro greens and fresh vinaigrette. My mate's fried chicken with potato salad and greens was excellent as was the local Riesling chosen by our waiter Peter who was fluent in English.

Yelp
The dinner we had here was fabulous. I had fried chicken and it was great. My wife had grilled chicken that was very tender & flavorful and she said it was the best she had eaten on our 2 week trip.
