A 5-minute walk from Los Lances Beach, this upscale whitewashed hotel is also 8 km from both the Castle of Tarifa and the Iglesia de San Mateo, a 16th-century church in Tarifa town center. Bright, laid-back rooms with tile floors and wood furniture offer TVs and minifridges; some add balconies with views of the Moroccan mountains. The rooms housed in bungalow-style buildings have garden views, and add satellite TV. Breakfast (surcharge) is served in a refined traditional restaurant that has a beamed ceiling and a seasonal terrace. There's also an outdoor pool and a garden.

When I booked the place, I had doubts about the quality, based on the previous reviews and photos. I have to say my doubts were not founded.|I had a room in the boongalows, which is a U shape part of the residency, facing a small garden with grass, roses and small trees and an internal parking (the parking is closed overnight, from 24:00 to 6:00).|Although the hotels is on the main road from Tarifa to Cadiz, the bungalow rooms are behind the main building, so they are very quiet. Behind the bungalows there is a small swimming pool and sunbathing areas, all spotless clean and well maintained.||The beds are a bit hard (for my taste), but good quality, perfectly clean and well maintained. The WiFi is on and off, as the main antenna is in the main hotel building. Overall I liked the accomodation, very quiet and peaceful.||In the monring one can take a cold breakfast: selection of meat, cheese, tomatoes, youghurts, jams and toasted bread for an incredible low price.... totally recommended! And great coffee too!||All the personnel in the reception and bar/restaurant area were very helful and ready to offer advices and help.||The place is perfect if you have a car, as the parking is free and secure; not sure what are the transport options for public tranport, as the place feels quite remote. By car, Tarifa is 5min away (plenty of bars and restaurants) and the beach is just across the main road, crossing a small forest.

We spent 3 nights there with my family. The room are really small but neat. It's a well maintained hotel but clearly not a 3 star. The breakfast wasn't good at all and I find way too expensive for what it was. The food at the restaurant was really expensive for what it was especially if you compare it to other very nice options in Tarifa and surrounding. That being said the young man at the reception in the afternoon is very nice and professional.

The Codorniz is set back from the busy coastal road, about 3 miles outside Tarifa. It is no more than a 5 minute walk from a long stunning beach||||The grounds of the hotel are lovely. There are lots of shrubs and flowers and a large lawn with plenty of loungers. There is also a really nice swimming pool||||The rooms are pretty basic but they are clean, quiet and comfortable with good showers||||The breakfast at 5.5 Euro was brilliant value. Fresh fruit, bread, croissants, and orange juice. Also excellent coffee||||We looked at dinner but, in my opinion it was well overpriced. In addition the two men behind the bar that I spoke to about dinner were unfriendly and grumpy||||By contrast the young lady on reception was great as was the guy who was in charge at breakfast

We had a great time here. The bungalows were very clean, there's a saltwater pool, the family who own it are extremely helpful, and it's literally 5 minutes from the beach. We had dinner here on the first night and the food was delicious. There are lots of small roadside bars and restaurants nearby too, but for some you'll need to use the car if you have small kids. The beaches around there are wild and the best for kite surfing and also very family friendly. It's about 6kms from the centre of Tarifa. We enjoyed it a lot.

The hotel is very, very clean. The staff are all attentive and professional, and there are a lot of staff too so the service is very good. Great pool area and a short walk over the road to the beach. I would recommend choosing one of the bungalows as the rooms in the main building can be noisy. The food is excellent - lots of locals eat there and it is a local favourite.

Maybe this will end up being biased but oh well. I've been going to Tarifa with my family since I was young and we always stay at La Codorniz and to me, this hotel always reminds me of home. It's a hotel where you can stay comfortably, where the staff is nice and the facilities are good. The beds are really comfortable and the rooms are always clean, laying on the grass at night is also a must because the night view is beautiful in that area, this not to mention the pool where I've had so much fun over the years and where my parents have gotten a good amount of tanning done. It's not situated in the centre which is good because you can avoid the town chaos but it's also fairly close so you never miss out on the fun, whether it's going to a bar or the fair in September.

We have just had a lovely stay at La Codorniz. We stayed in a bungalow which was very clean and comfortable. The en suite had a great shower with plenty of hot water. Plenty of wardrobe space, good air conditioning a small fridge and comfy beds. Each bungalow has its own terrace with table and chairs overlooking the lovely gardens. Everything is well maintained and the food is very good. We had our evening meal in the hotel restaurant on several evenings and were able to eat outside at 9pm on the covered terrace, even though it was October! An added bonus is that there is a lovely beach just a 5 min walk away from then hotel, just across the road and through a wooded area. We will definitely be going back to La Codorniz, Tarifa.

Stayed as a party of 8 birdwatchers for a week having dinner, bed and breakfast. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly; we had breakfast earlier than the scheduled times so we could make the most of each day and dinner time was flexible to fit in with our programme. The food was always delicious and beautifully cooked. There was a dining room and a large outdoor ( covered) terrace where we ate each night watching the sunset. ||Our rooms were clean and comfortable, everything worked properly ( aircon, wifi, hot water ). The bed was fine and I slept really well. We stayed in the bungalow rooms with views over the garden, and each had its own small terrace. Rooms 2and 3 had a joined terrace, which was fine as we were both in the same party, but had I been staying as an individual I would have preferred another room. ||The location is off the main coast road just west of Tarifa. Access to the long sandy beach is just opposite. The bungalows are at the back of the hotel so there is no traffic noise. ||The staff could not have been more helpful - thanks to all of them we had a really excellent week.
