Just back from another fantastic week at the RH Royal. I was a returning guest who travelled with my sister. It was her first time at the hotel. In my opinion this hotel is the best kept secret in Benidorm! Close to the Old Town, it's perfect to stroll around the tapas bars, alleyways and the historic old Church on the Balcony, which is perfect for people watching! Forget people's pre-conceived ideas of Benidorm - for me this is the true Spain. We arrived at the hotel at lunchtime and were immediately given our room... I had requested a twin bedded room, high floor and this is what we got. The rooms are perfect and very well maintained - it was lovely to come back to a lovely fresh and clean room after a day in the sun! The food is always fresh and delicious, with the hot food actually being hot! In fact, my sister, who is very well travelled, said it was the best food she'd had in a hotel! Praise indeed! The staff are always pleasant and can't do enough for you. Can't wait to go back!|Couple of tips: Ask for high floor and book early - the Royal is only a small hotel and soon gets booked up in the height of the summer season - mainly with returning guests I would think!|Use the local buses - they are very frequent and you can visit lots of different places for only 3 euros return - we visited Albir, Villajoyosa and Finestrat - all lovely resorts.

We are 4 couples who stayed at the Royal for a week. Everything about the hotel is just fabulous. Perfect location for both the old & new town. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and rooms have comfortable beds and great showers. Lovely pool area. |We were on premium all inclusive which was well worth the money, food all beautifully cooked and plenty of variety. |All of the staff were friendly and hard working, but special mention to Andreas who has the most infectious smile and is great fun. |Thank you all for looking after us so well|Steve, Jackie. A lovely hotel with friendly attentive staff. The entertainment guy was the best. The room as always clean and modern. The turns were great and the food was nice. Yes it got a bit samey after a week but it was well presented and lots of choice. I always judge a place if I’d go back and yes I would. I couldn’t fault the place. The bonus was no kids 👍🏻

We have just returned from an 11 night stay on a half board basis. We usually stay at the RH Victoria across the road, but thought we would try the Royal on this occasion, so in some respects this review draws comparisons between the two.|Firstly, the positives. The Royal is in an excellent location on the edge of the old town. The cleanliness is excellent and all of the staff are friendly and helpful. The pool is lovely, being large and deep enough for a proper swim. The beds are comfortable and showers good. Room servicing was also faultless.|Now, the negatives. The rooms are dated, with threadbare carpet. There is no soundproofing between rooms, meaning we could hear everything from our neighbours. We had the misfortune to have very inconsiderate neighbours for our first week, who decided to arrive back one night at 1.35 a.m. and proceed to slam doors and have an argument which continued until 2 a.m. and then restart arguing the following morning. They also decided to put on the TV full volume at 6.45 a.m. on their last day. While we recognise that the hotel has little control over such antisocial behaviour, the lack of soundproofing didn’t help. The doors do not have soft closers, so there was always someone slamming a door somewhere. The double glazing is old and does nothing to lessen the noise from the busy road.|The food at breakfast was OK, if a little repetitive. However, the rolls were almost always stale and rock hard. By far the worst meal was dinner, with bland, poor quality food and limited choices. They have even started watering down some of the soups. On more than one occasion we likened it to school dinners/hospital food. Unfortunately, this seems to be the way the food in general at RH hotels seems to be heading, which is a pity as, a couple of years ago, it did seem to improve.|Lastly, nothing is done about the sunbed hoggers who put towels down at 10 a.m. but don’t return until 4 p.m.|With all of the above in mind, we will not be returning to the Royal.

We must emphasise that we would never give The RH ROYAL less than 5* as we love the place.|And, Yes, we are a couple of oldies who have been guests at this hotel for many years when we were considerably younger.||Staff at reception, through to; restaurant, kitchen, cleaning &, most importantly the bar where Juan Antonio, Alfonso & Oney are second to none||Food is excellent and choice at breakfast, lunch and evening meal is excellent.||Entertainment reasonably entertaining.||The beds suit us but understand if some feel they are a little firm and a choice of pillows.||But, we must point out that the hotel is looking a little tired and a refurb is overdue. MORE IMPORTANTLY” the Air Conditioning is totally INEFFICIENT. In the rooms the vent is poorly sited and basically chills the passage outside the bathroom and NOT the sleeping area.||In the bar lounge it is the same, if you sit under a vent it’s O.K. otherwise it gets too warm.||Alas, the poorest area is the Restaurant where the vents act similar to the above and on some evenings the staff appeared very uncomfortable due to the heat added to by the cooking hot plates. Yes, outside temperatures remained above 30 degrees and the system could NOT cope. Attempting to alleviate the situation by opening windows defeated the object as this reduced what A/C there was.||We will be back, as always, in December when we doubt the Air Coon will be needed.||Bett & Matt

RH Royal||The barman is busy tightening up the pool and the queue at the bar with nobody serving.||Since our last visit, accessing the Internet has been changed and it’s very easy now.|The television in our room, 703, was a lovely big white screen TV and the picture quality was superb with a wide variety of channels.|The tv as chrome cast. No one at reception could advise me how to connect my iPad to it!!!!||The negative side of these televisions is that they’re all wall mounted so the noise from your room transmits to the adjacent room which can be quite disturbing especially later at night.||In the restaurant, the lady came and asked for our drink order and I politely asked if I could have a black cider from the bar and bluntly said ‘no’.|||The hotel is not disabled-friendly!||I walk with my crutches, my balance is terrible. I went into the restaurant and asked if I could have a glass of cider, which is what they serve in the bar area. Same blunt answer of no!!!.|I cannot carry a pint of anything without spilling it all. I had to restrain myself to stop myself from going and getting a pint and spilling it all over the floor from the bar into the restaurant just to make the point!||We went around the pool, I sat down enjoying the sun and the atmosphere. When it was time to go, I tried to stand up and the tiles were so slippery. I had to hold on to one of the bushes in the flower bed to pull me up!! DANGEROUS||We called Reception because the aircon was not working in our room. Very quickly, a technician came to our room. He tested the sensor on the door from the room onto the balcony, but it didn’t do anything. It worked and went away because the job was properly done. A few days later, we’re back in the same situation. Please do the job properly.||One day when we sat in the outside bar adjacent to the road, there were no cushions when we went and asked for some cushions. The barman gave us some but insisted that we wanted to take them back afterwards. Really!!!||Access to the hotel has been provided by a ramp, but it’s doable.|One day we came back in, two stupid, inconsiderate people had decided to drive motorised scooters right to the top and block the access to anybody else in the hotel. I can only assume the mother dropped him on the road when you were a baby.||This is our second stay at RH Royal. And definitely, that last time it wasn’t as bad as this, bye-bye RH Royal.||Our maid was next to useless; some days she didn’t get to make it in the room while mid-afternoon.|One day she did come to the room, but she didn’t service the room properly. She left us without any shower gel one day, even though we disconnected the old bottle and left.||I just got a feeling that the staff wanted to do the minimum amount and get home.|In the restaurant, they couldn’t wait to clear the tables and check all the food away. It was just rush, rush, rush.||If you have a room at the front overlooking the road, the road noise can be very bad from about 6.30 am.||Motorbike delivery trucks just create continuous noise, worse if you have the bedroom window open.||In the morning you get delivery trucks and refuse lorries loading and unloading from about 6:30 am. ||In the room, there are only 213 M sockets, one at the bedside at one side and one at the foot of the bed near the mirror.|There are no USB charges.

Hotel still very good, although the rooms are a bit dated now and room 207 has a toilet that is an obstacle course trying to get into the shower, anyone over 11 stone would struggle to access the shower. Food still good quality, but could be a bit more varied, fish fingers and meatballs, not what you would expect in an adults only hotel. Staff all very efficient and pleasant and on general hotel environment creates a pleasant experience.

What a great hotel! The room was spacious, comfy and clean and from the balcony we could just see the sea. There was a fridge and a kettle in the room as well. Lots to choose from for breakfast and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Adult only hotel, which was great for us. Short walk gets you right to the tapas area. Definitely would stay here again.
