Depending on your budget you can have a very nice room / suite or a normal one. We took a normal one which was quite okay. |The whole hotel is absolutely well designed and the staff is super nice and gentle. |Our room was not the big hit unfortunately. That’s why it is only three stars. |We got a shuttle from the train station for 50 pax. Good price!|We also took the river tour in the morning. |I strongly recommend that!|We saw a lot of birds and plants and the guide explained everything. We also got to the small archeological site where we learned about the Mayo tribe. The guide was very active in explaining and showing things. |

We had the best views of the El Fuerte river from our bedroom balcony. The room was cool, clean and comfortable. The bed was huge. The shower was hot. |We had a great bird watching tour up the river. I would recommend this hotel.

Our group of friends reserved one night here since we couldn't get a reservation at another property in El Fuerte. Reading great reviews, we were looking forward to staying here . Both rooms had a strong musty odor, which we might have gotten used to, but the main issue was all the bugs that were crawling around on the bedspreads , walls, and floor. The beds were sagging and the lighting was very dim. The bird mural was lovely. Maybe it was an off time, but we left for another property . The manager was pleasant and |did not penalize us monetarily for leaving. I hope they improve since the staff seem nice and the views are spectacular .

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Vista del Rio the night before taking the train from El Fuerte up into Copper Canyon. The hotel is a work in progress; ranges from funky, to chic, to Spartan. Our room had a spectacular view out over the river and valley; but no air conditioning. Could not leave the balcony door open because of mosquitoes. Our dinner and breakfast at the hotel were very nice. The family and staff who run the hotel were very friendly.

Chal, the owner of Hotel Rio Vista, is a very engaging guy, with a good command of English. Although the hotel is seemingly always a work in progress, it still is a very good value for the money, especially the rooms fronting the river. Breakfast was tasty, of good quality and plentiful. Chal is a great tour guide, as well as hotel manager, and with advance notice, he'll be at the train station, waiting for you, and take you back at departure time. On arrival, don't be put off by the entrance to the place; instead, appreciate the other side of the entry. Remember, be prepared to pay cash, in pesos, which can be obtained from an ATM in town.

We were disappointed that the pool was empty because the days were hot. The restaurant was only open for breakfast. Breakfast was tasty. The hot water flow in the room was of low volume and no cold water in sink. The views over the river were good. The manager was very good at arranging a river birdwatching tour with Philipe and the taxi to Los Mochis airport and helpful in general

A sweet, family run hotel that with a great river view and wonderful local art. It isn’t fancy, but who needs fancy when you’re surrounded by creativity. Be sure to take a morning river trip. Roberto is an excellent guide and an expert birdwatcher and he speaks great English, too.

Such a cool place! The river view is amazing and you can take yours that take you to more great views and ancient petroglyphs. 5/5 if maintenance was a little better (e.g. spotty WiFi, only the hot tap working, clumsy plumbing finishing).
