Hotel Riu Palace Tropical Bay

We are currently on our third day at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay, and I can confidently say this has been the best Riu experience we’ve had so far. Whenever we travel, we typically choose Riu Palace properties, so we come in with high expectations — and Tropical Bay has exceeded every one of them. From the moment we arrived and checked in, everything has been exceptional. The staff truly go above and beyond in every interaction, consistently delivering warm, attentive, and genuine service. You can feel the pride they take in what they do. The hotel itself is immaculate. The rooms are spotless and beautifully maintained, and the attention to detail throughout the property is impressive. You constantly see staff cleaning and refreshing the spaces, ensuring everything looks perfect at all times. The entertainment team, pool bar staff, and restaurant teams bring such incredible energy to the resort. Their enthusiasm and friendliness create a vibrant, fun atmosphere that makes every day feel special. We’re already dreading having to leave in a couple of days — but we know we’ll be back. A heartfelt thank you to everyone here for making this stay so memorable. We can’t wait to return!

We were very pleased with the positivity and smiles of the staff. The whole resort is really clean. Service was excellent except for the service at Kristal. 2 staff members (Shynelle and Sacha) were actually really rude with us and all customers. Other than that, the whole trip was perfect. We will be going back for sure! Thanks for a great time. Excellent service from Damien and his team at the buffet. He was amazingly great and efficient!

We spent a week at RIU Palace Tropical Bay over Christmas and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The service was excellent, and all of the staff were polite, professional, and genuinely kind. One thing we really appreciated was that no one was ever pushy or begging for tips. We are a family that is happy to tip—and tip generously—but it’s refreshing when it isn’t expected or pressured at every turn.||This was hands down the cleanest resort we’ve ever stayed at. The food was consistently delicious, both in the à la carte restaurants and at the buffet. They truly went above and beyond for the holidays—Santa Claus arrived by boat on Christmas Day and gave each child a gift, which absolutely thrilled our kids and made Christmas feel very special. They also hosted a lovely Christmas Eve gala to celebrate the season.||The resort app was easy to use and very convenient. Room service was fine, and if anything in the room needed attention, you could submit a request through the app and it was taken care of quickly. The only downside for us was that the beds were a bit hard (and I’m still feeling it!), but that was a small trade-off.||The beach was immaculate, and the jerk chicken cooked by Jolly by the beach was incredible. My son—who normally only eats chicken nuggets—couldn’t get enough of it and was still talking about it when we were leaving.||One tip for future guests: the site building at the far end of the beach, we recommend booking excursions directly there rather than through your travel representative. We found the experiences to be much more economical and even better overall.||I honestly wish we could have stayed another week, and I already want to go back—which is something I’ve never said about a resort before. Highly recommend.

Beautiful resort, staff always friendly, cheerful and willing to get anything you need. Welcome drinks, taking our bags the second we step out of the cab, we were truly treated like royalty here. Rainfall shower is a nice touch, housekeeping always pleasant and do a great job. Beach is beautiful with plenty of trees for shade, and lots of vendors/peddlers so be prepared to look at the same bracelets a few times. They are all friendly nonetheless. The people at the resort were also friendly. We liked the buffet, we weren't a huge fan of the Krystal restaurant, and so we cancelled the rest of our restaurant reservations and just ate at the buffet & Jerk hut. The buffet offers a little something for everyone, make sure you try the ice cream, especially the coconut one. Servers were very attentive and always kept our drinks full with a smile. Highly recommend booking your excursions through the Scuba Caribe Hut on the beach, we had an excellent experience with them. There are very minor things around the property that need renovations, but we heard they are remodeling this year. So we're excited to see what it looks like next year. We will be back! 💚💛❤️

Absolutely wonderful resort! Starting to show some wear , but overall a wonderful resort! The staff is amazing! Especially Judith, very efficient at checking on us for drinks on the beach at the far end of the resort. She is outstanding and very personable! The weather was a little rough but that is uncommon for this resort. Would absolutely go back!!

Definitely worth the long journey from the airport. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. The hotel room was always clean. Comfy bed and plenty of towels. Food was exceptional. Special thanks to Jelani for great service around the pool and Lyanna for equally great service at the lobby bar. All in all a brilliant time.

Overall we had a great time at the hotel. Great location in front of a wonderful beach. The food was a bit hit and miss, although there was a good selection and we always found something to eat. We tried the speciality restaurants, which we found not to be that special. Entertainment, in the main was provided by the resident entertainment team and Reggae band. This we found to be quite repetitive, although the band were very good and the shows put on by the team very professional. Service was courteous and often fun. Four stars due to preference given to those with dollar bills in their hands. The hotel is generally quite noisy around the three pools which are next to one and other. So no quite pool to relax but you could escape some of the noise on the beach.

I surprised my husband for our 30th Anniversary with a trip to Jamaica. We stayed at the RIU Tropical Bay and is was outstanding. The food was 5 star, from the buffet to the Restaurants, it was a class act. The People were super friendly and nice. We had the same Waiter each time we went to the buffet and he knew what we wanted to drink and for each meal. The room service was great. They did a great job cleaning the room when asked. I would definately recommend this place and would definately go back. Only drawback is that the airport is an hour and a half away from the resort.
