This was overall a great stay, but I had a few niggles that stopped it from being a full 5-star experience compared to other places we stayed in Costa Rica.||The pros:|The location is excellent, and the staff are welcoming and professional. The gardens are beautiful and make for a wonderful place to sit in the evening. The property is well maintained and very clean.||The niggles:| • The air conditioning is poor — it would honestly be better and easier to just have a fan.| • The bathroom is very tired and dated. I get that in Costa Rica it’s common to have a more old-fashioned style, but this felt a bit much.| • The television is pointless: no foreign language channels and poor reception. Now, don’t get me wrong, you don’t come to Costa Rica to watch TV, but it’s nice to have access to multi-language news channels just to stay updated — especially as the Wi-Fi is really bad. This isn’t acceptable, as you do need reliable Wi-Fi to plan day trips, road journeys, etc. We stayed in far more rural areas and had much better internet elsewhere.| • The walls are paper thin, so you can hear absolutely everything.| • I love the eco stance, but unplugging the fridge is annoying — it takes hours to cool back down and in the end, we gave up using it.| • The lighting is dreadful: either really poor bedside lights or a blinding floodlight-style LED main light.||I know it sounds like a lot of negatives, and honestly, it was a great stay. But these little issues do add up, and when comparing it to other properties of similar or even cheaper prices that we stayed at during our road trip, I do think they need to tighten up a bit.||That said, I would still recommend staying here.
