Hotel Roter Ochsen

Lovely hotel, had a very homely B&B atmosphere and the staff were incredibly helpful. We rented e-bikes for a very reasonable price which was great! 4th floor was quite hot during the heatwave but they had fans which helped. Nice breakfast too and pretty garden with tables and chairs. Right in the heart of the city, would love to stay again.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Roter Ochsen. The room seemed basic but also really nice. The ambiente at reception and breakfast was open and friendly. There was also a hotel cat, which we enjoyed. Our hotel room though was located at the main street and since the bar was open till morning there was quite some noise. Even with the windows closed.

Location is great, staff very professional, room is good!! Cat pet at the reception is a very warm welcome, love it! Price is within average for the city.

Reception and Lobby stylish and functional renovated and is a good place to read a book, relax or plan the next trip. There is a small, nice garden as well. We appreciated the rich breakfast. The only downside was the lack of blinds in our room. Check for rooms with blinds if you are light sensitive. Overall definitely a hotel we recommend.

The family room was spacious and worked great for our family of 4 during our 3 night stay. The location was just across the river from the old Town and walking distance to the train station. A little noisy at night but everything seemed to settle down at 10:00 pm during the week. My family slept great and with ear plugs and the windows open I did as well. Excellent breakfast and coffee maker available during the day at no charge to guests. The owners were also very helpful both before and during the stay. Great hotel and great small city.

We stayed in a room on the top floor with no elevator, but the staff helped lug our huge suitcases both up to the room and down the stairs when we left. We had a lovely large, recently renovated room with many exposed beams. The bed was a split king-size bed with individual comforters on it - very comfortable! A delicious breakfast was included with many options available. We enjoyed our morning conversations with the chef, Bruno, who made sure we had everything that we needed. The hotel is an easy walk both into town and to the train station, and is just a block away from the Aare River. The bathtub/shower was a little challenging to get into and out of since the sides were quite high and there are no grab bars. The shower curtain wasn't long enough so there was always water on the floor following a shower. Nevertheless, we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

The breakfast and location were great! Very friendly staff and personal feel to the hotel. I would stay again. I also enjoyed the restaurants in the neighborhood (Aare for pizza), walking along the river, and the|Easy walk to the train. Thank you!

We stayed at Hotel Roter Ochsen for one night, and really enjoyed our experience. The hotel is ideally situated, very close to everything, including Old Town, and many close by restaurants. Upon arrival, Christian was extremely helpful, and he continued his excellent service throughout our stay. The room was well appointed, but unfortunately the hotel does not have a lift. Breakfast was ideal, with a good range of food options. We’d stay here again.
