Hotel Royal

We stayed for three nights and had a great time! The Hotel is really beautiful, Central location, service beyond friendly and breakfast was delicious with lots of great fruits, waffles and some vegan (milk)alternatives. In the afternoons there was also some tasty cake included, which was very nice.

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Royal in August this year. Since we have returned we have been busy with house renovations but I didn’t want to let the year end without writing a review of the hotel.|We loved that the hotel was family run. The staff were friendly and very helpful. You could tell that the hotel’s reputation was very important to them. The hotel is very stylish. The attention to detail in the furnishings is commendable. We stayed in a superior double room. It was very spacious and included a lounge area. The bathroom was modern, had a walk in shower and there was plenty of storage space for toiletry bags. A great deal of thought had been given to the bathroom layout to make it function well. |Each afternoon freshly baked cake was laid out next to tea and coffee making facilities in the hotel foyer. Guests could then take their afternoon tea to one of a couple of beautifully decorated lounge areas. It was a delightful treat!|The breakfast room was another example of tasteful styling. Eating an ample breakfast there was a great way start to the day.|The hotel is in a handy located near the railway station without being too close and handy to the Botanical Gardens, shops and restaurants.

I threw in a quick pit stop to Gothenburg from Oslo to Copenhagen. I had originally booked in at a chain property but took another look at my options via TA and decided to come stay at the Hotel Royal. I'm so please with my choice. Great service, beautiful old architecture, comfortable rooms that are laid out well for size (I was in a twin room but had ample room for a large bag). Fantastic breakfast, close to the railway, close to everything. I was only in town for about 36 hours but feel like I got a good overview of the city. If I come back I will most definitely stay here again. I applaud them for remaining independent and doing a great job at catering to their guests.

Very cozy, historical hotel in the heart of the city. Great breakfast, super friendly staff. The room is comfortable, a bit small, but nicely furnished and quiet. Beds are comfortable. The area of the hotel has all you may need. This will be my standard choice for Gothenburg

Lovely traditional hotel. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Great breakfast buffet with good GF section. Lovely complimentary fika in the afternoon. Very helpful staff. Perfect location for exploring the city. Comfortable and spacious room.

Can’t imagine a better welcoming hotel. The oldest and perfectly kept place. Reception staff are the kindest and most helpful possible. Rooms are cosy and the breakfast is complete. On top of this, location is five minutes from central station in the center of town but still in a very quiet street. This is the place to stay.

I’m not really a “small, historic and family owned” hotel kind of girl. But I got a really good deal on Royal Hotel in Gothenburg. So off I went! Upon arrival I stepped into a hotel straight out of a fairy tale. You know, a hotel so perfect, so cozy and so overly Christmas decorated it only exists in movies? Well, I found the real deal in Royal Hotel. From the nicest receptionist, my quaint room, the Christmas decorations EVERYWHERE, the homemade cake in the afternoon… Everything blew my mind. ||My room was stylish, clean and very well maintained. WiFi worked well, so did the AC (although opening the window worked wonders as well). My bed was comfortable and I loved the book on the hotel history. Breakfast was small - but really good, and the hotel was very centrally located. 5 minutes from both Nordstan (large mall) and the train station. ||I loved everything. Everything! Will obviously come back when I feel like stepping back in time and straight into a fairy tale again.

Charming non chain hotel in central Gothenburg. Perfectly located near the train and bus station, only a 5-minute or so walk.||All the staff we came across were very helpful, and they let us store our luggage when we arrived early. The breakfast buffet in the morning is probably the best I've ever come across, really sets you up for the day. We had an early morning flight, and they packed us an awesome breakfast to take with us. They also have a tea/coffee/water station all day and cake after 3pm, which was delicious.||The room was clean and comfortable, and the lift made it easy getting to the 4th floor. Shower pressure was good and the beds comfortable. We couldn't get the room temperature down to a comfortable level to sleep but we solved that by opening the window. Wifi worked well in our room and at breakfast.||My sister and I stayed for 3 nights.
