Hotel Royal

The location of the hotel is very good. Both the elegance of a historical hotel and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is polite and friendly. The breakfast service was also varied and delicious. I stayed here on my first visit to Sweden and it was a week with very meaningful and special memories for me. I will definitely prefer this hotel when I come back to Gothenburg.

Wonderful Hotel in central location. So pleased to have stayed in this beautiful hotel, family run and not part of a chain. Reception staff so kind helping me find an emergency dentist. Great recommendation to Wagners Bistro nearby. Wonderful experience . We felt like vip's because of the wonderful personalized support The hotel itself is charming. Two cozy waiting rooms outfitted in style. Breakfast was far better than most hotels. Best part was the staff. Very attentive. Special shout out to Andreas for all he did to help us. I also noted that he picked up and extra shift to help out a colleague. I also saw the owner working the desk for a couple hours to ensure everything was perfect. Very happy. Highly recommend

Beautiful. The oldest hotel in Gothenburg. Stunning entrance with a gorgeous, original patterned glass ceiling. Wonderful warm welcome, all the information you need. Breakfast included, plus a help yourself coffee/tea and cake bar. Our room on the top floor was roomy and so comfortable. Stairs and lift access to upper floors. Excellent location close to railway station and easy walk to all the sights. Very special place to stay. Loved it. Just now there is construction work close by but quiet at night.

Fantastic hotel in an excellent location. Rooms are small but cozy and just what we needed for a nights stay. The staff are very welcoming. The breakfast is plentiful with lots of good options - highly recommend the waffle maker for fresh waffles! I’d stay again if I returned to Gothenburg.

The hotel is very close to Gothenburg Central Station. It is about 5min by walk. And all the crews in the hotel are really nice and provide their best service. You can also enjoy the pika with a really nice cake. The breakfast is very delicious which is typically Swedish people eat: yogurt, bread, cheese, etc.

Highly recommend the historic and very welcoming Hotel Royal in Göteborg. The staff we met clearly like their jobs and were genuinely friendly and helpful. We talked with one chap, maybe in his seventies, who has worked at the Royal for more than 40 years and who despite being retired still works the desk during summer weekends because he enjoys it. They gave us a very large, spacious room, actually a small suite, at the end of the hall on the first floor for the cost of a reserved standard double with adjustable heat pump air conditioning (needed when outdoor temps reach the mid 20-degrees C range). The room price for our Sunday night stay was much less expensive than weekend rates. Very comfortable bed. A minor complaint of the room is that it is above an old wooden gate leading into the 19th century building's inner courtyard, and it creaks rather loudly but albeit charmingly when it is opened. The Royal is in the old canal district of Göteborg with narrow streets and corridors between buildings so the occasional motorcycle and recycling trucks passing by reverberate loudly. The hotel made up for it by its excellent location and almost quirky authentic charm. Great breakfast too. The hotel's inner courtyard is a delightful spot to relax on a warm summer day. If you drive into Göteborg like we did, there is parking garage just across the street.
