Hotel Royal

I enjoyed staying at this historic hotel. The hotel is in very fine shape and was very clean. The room, though typically small (European standard) was comfortable and well appointed. The staff were universally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was quite good and had a nice variety for any taste. ||There is a parking structure across the street and numerous shops and restaurants steps away. The location is great for walking about.

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. It was easy to find and walk to from the airport coach express service, with green spaces and plenty to do in the surrounding area. The reception team were very friendly and I felt well looked after as a solo traveller. The room was comfortable and clean. Good selection at breakfast. It was interesting to learn about the history of the hotel with the in-room information too - some guests have been returning for decades, and it's easy to see why!

I highly recommend this hotel, it is authentic and interior has been maintained in a classy historic way. Rooms are clean, tastefully decorated and the air conditioning works. You get a real key as well. Breakfast- good selection of food was available and you can cook your own waffles. The hotel is centrally located for exploring Gothenburg with good public transport near by. All the staff were excellent and customer-oriented and provided lots of tourist information and recommendations for eating out. Home baked cake with coffee was freely available |throughout the day, John Eric and his team provided stellar service and I hope to return soon.

Highly recommend this hotel and I am not easy to please! Very nice, clean and quiet with a lot of character. A very short walk from the train station and shops. All staff were excellent and very helpful. A good variety for a European style breakfast. Being English speaking was no issue at all. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is very quaint and in a good location. It's apparently the oldest hotel here! The room we were given was fine but that bathroom was quite small with no storage to speak of. They serve tea and coffee in the lobby area at all times with some kind of cake which is quite tasty! The breakfast is included and is quite basic, nothing special. Even though this is a historic place, I think next time we will stay in a more modern place.

Excellent location and wonderfully friendly staff, this hotel is a great option for everyone. An old-school hotel that still uses mechanical keys (that you drop off and pick up at the reception desk that is staffed at all times). The rooms are small and comfortable but need a little refresh. There's a 1990s vibe to the fixtures and furniture. While there is no coffee maker in the room, the lobby is equipped with a machine that guests are free to use anytime to make coffee or even cappuccino, which is convenient because the hotel also puts out free cake each afternoon! Breakfast is plentiful though not innovative in a "new Nordic cuisine" way, though it includes a fun waffle-maker, so you can eat like your inner child. Just a two-minute walk from Central Station, shopping, and parks, and 10-minute walk from an airport bus stop. Solidly recommended.

The rooms are perfectly fine, the facilities didn't blow me away and the breakfast - although continental, also didn't blow me away. A nice range of options however. The rooms were quiet enough that we slept well - that mattresses however felt cheap. The service is immaculate, the staff are well dressed and polite. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Göteborg, walking distance from anything worth going to; 10 minute drive to Botaniska. We only stayed for two nights and we did so last minute, and therefore took the only room available to us, and honestly it was really lovely, but no fridge, no room service and archaic phone system. I think 4 stars is a perfect rating for this hotel, however the price point is probably mostly due to its location. Still not a bad price point and I was happy to pay it!

A wonderful hotel! Great location, friendly, helpful staff, a really nice breakfast, and clean rooms with comfortable beds. All for a reasonable price. I will definitely be staying here again!
