Hotel Royal Hoi An - Gallery (Hoi An, Quang Nam) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hotel Royal Hoi An’s architecture and design take inspiration from the story of a Japanese merchant and a Vietnamese aristocrat who met and fell in love in Hoi An, a major trade hub, in the late 1600s. This riverside luxury hotel, fittingly, is divided into two wings: one is Japanese in style, with rich dark wood, glowing lanterns, and the city’s highest pool bar, and the other, with lavish drapery and an Art Nouveau-inspired swimming pool, is more traditionally Vietnamese." - Tablet Hotels

Our stay at Hotel Royal Gallery in Hoi A was extremely disappointing, especially considering the exceptional price we paid — approximately $250 per night including breakfast. For a hotel positioning itself at this level, the overall experience was mediocre at best. The most striking issue was the complete lack of attention to detail. Something as basic as a hot cup of tea or coffee was consistently impossible. Regardless of the time of day — busy or quiet — drinks arrived lukewarm at best, often without a spoon to stir. These are small details, but at this price point, they matter. Breakfast service was equally poor. Items were rarely replenished unless specifically requested, and staff often seemed unaware that napkins and cutlery were missing altogether. Guests should not have to repeatedly ask for essentials. While the hotel looks impressive from the outside and photographs well, it places little to no value on the actual guest experience. There was never a visible supervisor or manager present, and the service was handled by frantic, highly inexperienced staff who appeared overwhelmed, too busy to notice guests, or provide proper service. Overall, this hotel focuses on appearance rather than hospitality. For the price charged, the service and experience are simply unacceptable. I would never recommend staying at this hotel.

I recently stayed at Hotel Royal Hoi An Gallery and overall had a very good experience. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, especially the ones with a balcony overlooking the river (those are definitely worth booking if available). The interior feels fresh and well-maintained, as if the rooms have been recently renovated, which adds a nice modern touch while still keeping a boutique feel. The location is excellent: the hotel is away from the noise and crowds of the Ancient Town, yet still within easy walking distance. You can enjoy some peace and quiet at the hotel and then reach the heart of Hoi An in just a short walk. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the service is excellent overall. They are attentive and welcoming, which really adds to the experience. The only real downside for me is the elevator access to the guest rooms. To reach the elevator, you have to walk through the hotel restaurant, and the kitchen smells can be quite strong and a bit unpleasant as you pass through. Aside from this point, I genuinely recommend staying at Hotel Royal Hoi An Gallery, especially if you choose a river-view balcony room.

We stayed here at the end of our holiday in Vietnam and it was a perfect ending. The room was lovely, the breakfast excellent, anything you wanted provided, the roof pool a lovely bonus, but what was most excellent was the people who work there. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, the waiters, the room preparers and the receptionists were kind, keen to help, friendly and cheerful. A great asset to the hotel, the staff reflected well on the hotel & how it is run. I can only presume it is a good working environment. Also three of our group had a massage during our stay and we all experienced one of the best massages we had ever had. I particularly want to mention and thank Thao, my masseuse, I requested a strong massage and it was excellent, I felt the benefits of it at the time and the following day. Thanks to all the staff for a beautiful ending to our wonderful adventure in Vietnam.

What an incredible stay at the Hotel Royal over Christmas time. Everything about our stay was top class. From the moment of walking in to leaving. The breakfast buffet is AMAZING and the staff are so nice and helpful. When we walked around the hotel with our pram, staff members offered to help us. The bed is very comfortable and they bring you evening treats 🥹 and Kiet is a fantastic manager! Very professional like he works for the royal family. Thank you!!!

Okay, I will make this review to be extremely honest but above all very informative… Price: Price I believe is reasonable and is very affordable. We had a king suite on the very top floor and came with a beautiful balcony view facing the rivers. Accommodation: loveee how their room can be at 16 degree Celsius and I loveee me a cold cold room. My husband was very comfortable specially for someone who’s 6’3 Location: like I said, it’s right on the river and is walking distance with all the great food and shops. Maybe everything is probably about 15-20 mins walking wise. Service: All I have to say is how honored I am to experience the “storm” and “flooding” in this hotel. The STAFF goes above and beyond and honestly if you take your time and have a decent conversation with any of them, they are soooo awesome, helpful, kindest people you’ll ever meet. I’ve never met a group of individuals who helps each other in time of need despite the heavy flooding so I am extremely grateful Room Service: idk about other ppl but I loveeeee the food that they served in their room service and their pho was delicious! Woosah Spa: my hubby and I both got the 1 hour massage and our masseuses were phenomenal! It’s clean. Well priced and very relaxing!

"Stunning architecture and excellent lounge service, despite minor hiccups" Hotel Royal Hoi An is one of the most convenient places to stay for visiting the Old Town. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the service at the Executive Lounge was particularly outstanding. The elegance and beauty of the wooden architecture rival that of any famous luxury hotel. However, there are a few things to keep in mind. Although the welcome food was a nice gesture, it was unfortunately covered in ants. Also, don’t expect the promised "welcome service" with a placard at the airport. That said, they are punctual with the pick-up time, so just wait calmly and they will arrive. Excluding these minor details, it is truly a wonderful hotel.

We had such a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location was perfect for exploring the area—whether walking or biking—and every member of the team was so kind and welcoming. Both pools were fantastic, always stocked with towels, and made for a relaxing way to spend our afternoons. The breakfast buffet offered a nice variety of options, and our room overlooking the lower pool was lovely, with excellent air conditioning. The front desk staff went above and beyond, even keeping us updated when a package we were waiting for arrived, which was so helpful. Between the prime location and the thoughtful amenities, this hotel is truly a perfect choice. We also loved that we were able to visit their sister property on the beach—it was such a nice bonus to enjoy some time by the water before returning to the city. I did notice a couple of things that could be improved. One was the bathroom door—it only stayed shut if it was locked, which wasn’t ideal. Also, while our room was absolutely lovely, I hadn’t realized there were two different color palettes. The room we stayed in featured darker red and black tones, while many of the photos online showed a brighter blue and white style, which is more my personal preference. It didn’t take away from our experience, but I thought it was worth mentioning. The hotel itself was beautiful and welcoming, and we truly enjoyed our time there.

A wonderful 3 night stay here in Hoi An at the Royal. Made even better by Hiep upon check in when we were upgraded. The room was well appointed and breakfast offerings were extensive, which the choice to sit outside on the balcony or inside in AC. Super location to walk everywhere, great small gym and 2 pools with complimentary bicycles available which is standard in the city. Thanks again for the memories and look forward to next visit. Highly recommend!
