Hotel is generally excellent. Have to admit, I can see were folks are coming from who call it dated - could do with a refurb... we had a 5th floor suite and the bathroom was in dire need of renovation, but everything else was fine - well apart from the British TV channels dying, which did not impress my good lady wife one little bit! Staff were generally terrific, couldn't do enough to assist when called upon. Reception, especially Nicklas and Restaurant staff were particularly helpful.||The views from the roomy balcony over the lake were truly stunning! Location right on the lake was exceptional - I like to get up before dawn and walk - the trail along the lake in both directions was lit during darkness and it felt 100% safe 100% of the time - even for lone women (I saw a few walking/jogging).||Breakfast was super, but food offerings for the evening in the Cafe Bellagio were somewhat limited, menu-wise. Sinatra's Bar was awful - old Blue Eyes would be spinning in his grave. Ordered a Hot Chocolate one evening and they brought a glass of hot milk and a sachet of Chocolate which I had to mix myself - ridiculous! My wife ordered a coffee, mediocre. Unsurprising, then, that it was our only visit.||If you travel early September as we did, you might be lucky enough, as we were, to be able to attend a concert as part of the September Music Festival at the Fairmont Montreux's Le Petit Palace. Worth it for the experience and the price was quite reasonable. As well, in early September Montreux hosts a series of celebration days celebrating the birthday Freddie Mercury - a terrific experience with music and food shared with people from all across the globe.
