Hotel is generally excellent. Have to admit, I can see were folks are coming from who call it dated - could do with a refurb... we had a 5th floor suite and the bathroom was in dire need of renovation, but everything else was fine - well apart from the British TV channels dying, which did not impress my good lady wife one little bit! Staff were generally terrific, couldn't do enough to assist when called upon. Reception, especially Nicklas and Restaurant staff were particularly helpful.||The views from the roomy balcony over the lake were truly stunning! Location right on the lake was exceptional - I like to get up before dawn and walk - the trail along the lake in both directions was lit during darkness and it felt 100% safe 100% of the time - even for lone women (I saw a few walking/jogging).||Breakfast was super, but food offerings for the evening in the Cafe Bellagio were somewhat limited, menu-wise. Sinatra's Bar was awful - old Blue Eyes would be spinning in his grave. Ordered a Hot Chocolate one evening and they brought a glass of hot milk and a sachet of Chocolate which I had to mix myself - ridiculous! My wife ordered a coffee, mediocre. Unsurprising, then, that it was our only visit.||If you travel early September as we did, you might be lucky enough, as we were, to be able to attend a concert as part of the September Music Festival at the Fairmont Montreux's Le Petit Palace. Worth it for the experience and the price was quite reasonable. As well, in early September Montreux hosts a series of celebration days celebrating the birthday Freddie Mercury - a terrific experience with music and food shared with people from all across the globe.

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Plaza in Montreux. We stayed here for 3 nights during a recent trip to Switzerland. The room was slightly smaller than expected, particularly as I had contacted the hotel beforehand for help selecting the most suitable option. In hindsight, a larger room would have been a better fit for us, and I feel the advice given was not entirely accurate.||That said, we had a beautiful lakeside room with a stunning view overlooking the lake — definitely a highlight of our stay. The room was spotlessly clean, and the in-room coffee was good! Special thanks to the housekeeping team, who are doing an excellent job.||We happened to experience a heatwave during our stay, and although the air-conditioning worked perfectly in terms of cooling the room, it was quite noisy and made it difficult to sleep at times. I’m not sure if this was specific to our room or a general issue.||Overall, we had some lovely days exploring the town and local sights. I would definitely stay here again and would gladly recommend the hotel to family and friends.

The breakfast was so good! I really liked the hotel. It seems a little dated but the staff makes up for that 100%. Everyone seemed so genuinely friendly and helpful. The only thing I found a little sad was that my wife and I were on our honeymoon (and stated that in our reservation) and they did nothing. Not that they're required to, but some decorating or something like that would have been nice.

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Plaza with a tour group. We loved the Lake view from our room and the overall ambiance. The rooms were large and spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, especially at the breakfast service. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the bar the two nights we were there. The food was good but found it pricey. It was raining and we didn’t want to go out to seek out other options. There are restaurants nearby, so there are plenty of options. The one complaint that we had was the nightly music at the bar a couple of floors below our room. The music was played too loud along with the thump from the bass, made for a hard time to relax or try to go to sleep at 10:30 PM for early morning tours. They finally did turn the music down at 11:00, but you could still hear the bass thumping until very late. It would be helpful if the hotel informed guests of the possibility of the music being played loudly and give you the option to be farther away from the bar area. This would help future guests have a more pleasant experience. We also found the lobby area very warm. They need some air movement in this area.

I was torn between a 3 and 5 rating so landed on a 4…: 3 for decent but dated rooms and hotel, and 5 for a wonderful location on Lake Geneva, with beautiful views. Montreux is a small town, and two days was plenty to view it, mostly exploring alongside the magical lake. Swimming, going for walks, finding cute lunch spots, and talking pics. The breakfast restaurant area is pleasant with lakeside views, and has been tastefully redone - a decent breakfast. The rest of the hotel would benefit with the same revamp. We still enjoyed Lake Geneva more than anything, and appreciated a friendly hotel concierge.

Great location right on the lake and a short walk/bus ride to the train station. Included breakfast was great. Very nice to have AC in the room, but I think it was making the room smell funny. Rooms looked like they were fancy at one point, but now just look dated and dirty (scuffed walls, stained carpet) except for the bathroom that looked newly remodeled.

Managed to get a room here for the Freddie Mercury celebrations. First the hotel is lovely and especially for it's price. I got a view of lake Geneva and it's amazing waking up to that. Breakfast may seem limited but what they offer is top quality. The restaurant opens up at night and whike not the cheapest residents get 10% discount to mitigate the cost and again the food is excellent and make sure you get a reservation to get a table. The hotel is a little way out of the city centre but you get a free bus and train pass allowing free travel about the place. The bus stops are just outside the hotel and the 204 takes you to the station and casino and the 201 goes by the lake front via the Freddie Mercury statue. Busses are plentiful and run from 6am till 11.30pm The ONLY issue I have had was the hotel hosts a large amount of Viking River Cruise customers who seemed to think they are the only ones at the hotel. I do NOT need getting up at 6am thank you. But apart from some inconsiderate customers 5 stars all round for this hotel and will come back..

A wonderful family experience. Staff was very friendly, and ready to provide the best service. Very nice location, in proximity from train station and the local shops. Being near the lake, maide a nice touch for the late walk on the lake promenade. For sure we will recommend, and we will consider on out next holiday.
