The best thing this hotel has going for it is the wonderful view of Lake Geneva. If you're lucky, you can experience it from your hotel room balcony and watch the sunset in your bathrobe. The room was spacious and had a coffee maker but it was sparingly stocked. The bathroom has a double sink and nice toiletries; there is a bathtub, but the shampoo/body wash comes from a dispenser high on the wall so not very practical. There is a very small elevator; four people with luggage won't fit. There is a modern bar off the lobby which serves lighter fare until six o'clock; both it and Bellagio, where breakfast is served, are pared down, modern spaces (translate: charmless, like a cafeteria). Breakfast was adequate but there were no hot choices when we were there, and while prosecco was available, it came at a cost, which we did not expect from a 5-star hotel. Nor was there a shuttle to the train station, also a disappointment. The only smile we received came from a lovely man who was storing our luggage; he gave us some pointers about the walk to Chillon Castle and was very friendly. Everyone else was distinctly lukewarm. We were really looking forward to this stay in Montreux, but have to say that for the price, we can't easily recommend booking this hotel. Other 4-star hotels throughout Switzerland surpassed this.
