All reviews are, of course, subjective. TripAdvisor is careful to ensure that you know that these are the views of the reviewer and TripAdivsor takes no responsibility. It is entirely possible, then, that other people have had a less successful experience at Can Jaume. On the other hand, if this were the case, I would be very surprised.||Can Jaume is a small haven, just far enough off any proper roads to be perfectly peaceful, but close enough to those roads to make the journey time very swift to anywhere on the Island. It is 10-15 minutes from the airport, so we tend to take a taxi and have a hire car (organised by the hotel) delivered the next day.||We have been coming (on and off) since 2008, gradually moving up in the type of rooms that they offer, and now using the private villas. The peace hasn't altered, but the quality of the hotel has increased quite markedly. I am not sure what happened during the various lock downs, but part of the extensive fruit orchards has been used to place 9 individual villas, each with a jacuzzi on the roof. The only criticism that I would make of the villas is that they don't actually have any proper kitchen facilities. There is a drinks fridge, with plenty of room for your own wine. There is a Nespresso machine. There is a bar surface, but if you want to 'self cater' at all, you will need to borrow the plates and cutlery from main building, and you have no options for cooking at all. That said, the room service food (from the kitchen at Can Arabi) is stunningly good, with no additional 'room service' charge on top of the price.||With that one reservation out of the way, I can get on with the praise. ||The bed is huge and very very comfortable. The bathroom separates the bedroom from the living area and is split into two. One side has the toilet and bidet in their own cubicle, and a wash area with basin, mirror etc. The other side has a massive monsoon shower, and another wash area with basin, mirror and hair drier alongside. Far too many allegedly 4 and 5 star hotels don't actually have a mirror near a socket for the hairdryer. If you are in a villa at Can Jaume, you can leave your hair drier at home.||The living area has a sofa which can be turned into a further double bed. I doubt that 2 couples would actually feel that the villa is large enough for 4 people but last year, when my snoring was at its worst, I slept on the sofa bed some nights and it is surprisingly good.||There is a large terrace, with table and chairs and sun loungers. Up the outside stairs is the roof terrace, with the jacuzzi. Bliss.||Of course, you may prefer one of the studio suites or rooms in the main hotel. It has been along time since we used them, and it would be safest if I leave any updated comments to others- save that we wouldn't be coming back if we hadn't thought them all wonderful.||Breakfast is vast. The outside terrace for eating is huge and if, rarely, it has been raining, the inside area is equally sizeable. We didn't ever feel crowded. In the main, breakfast is self service, but please forget the continental buffets that you may have endured elsewhere. The choice is astonishing and changes daily. Everything is freshly made, including the juices. The kitchen will also cook eggs for you in a number of different ways. I think that breakfast was meant to last until 11.00am, but I know that service went on well after that. The main points are that breakfast is fabulous and that you are never hurried.||You will see pictures of the pool and the loungers on the website. I imagine that it becomes more crowded in high season, but we avoid July and August because of the heat, so I can't be sure. In June or September we have never had any problem in using one of the double sunbeds, which are extremely comfortable and mainly shaded. For the sun-worshippers, there are many single loungers that can be placed under umbrellas or in the sun as you wish. In the main, the whole pool area is beautifully quiet.||Reception will always arrange for you to be brought drinks by the pool at any time, and there is now what I would call a 'snack shack' by the shaded area between the pool and the main building. The menu is extensive and the quality very high. ||The hotel kitchen is not open for dinner. The sister hotel at Can Arabi is a 5 minute walk away, and their food is superb. (Although I do wish that they would vary the menu a little).||I have deliberately left our comments on the staff until last. Many speak better English than we can speak Spanish, although we always try to practice by speaking Spanish as much as we can. (We are more fluid than fluent). Whether English or Spanish speaking, they are ALL effortlessly charming and helpful. This includes the managers on reception, all of the kitchen staff and the cleaners and gardeners as well. Can Jaume is very much a boutique hotel, and benefits from the fact that everyone who works there is unfailingly kind and attentive.||There may be many who say in response, "Well, what less would we expect". My response would be that the exceptional service is there for everyone, whether staying in a private villa or a garden suite. We have stayed in very many different hotels around the world and especially on Ibiza. Nowhere else has come close. I know that this review either reaches or crosses the line of 'gushing'. That is quite intentional.
