This is a lovely rustic hotel close to Alcala in Tenerife, away from the noise of more popular tourists destinations but close enough to shops, bars, etc. Ideal for those who hire a car but we did not and were still able to move about easily. The rooms decor is slightly tired but charming and the overall place is within a large banana plantation. The service is very welcoming and friendly, food is lovely and the limited number of rooms for adults only means it is a very peaceful and relaxing place. Twice we had the hotel pool only for ourselves and the area is really nice. I would recommend it if you want to escape it all, but be not too far from amenities.

Wonderful, setting amidst the banana trees, lovely pool unheated but great for a pre breakfast swim, or reading on a lounger. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice, surprised when what I thought was a sausage turned out to be delicious sweet fried banana!! Dinner is interesting, at breakfast you see the dinner menu for that day, choice of 2 starters, 2 mains, desert of the day, a glass of wine or a large beer, tea or coffee for €20. you choose time to eat, between 7-8.30. We had dinner twice, a delicious rabbit dish with Canadian potatoes, and tuna followed by a wonderful tiramisu (I'd love the recipe if anyone from the hotel sees this!!) Great helpful staff. The walk to the beach through the banana plantation was wonderful, the beach and bathing pools were amazing, the very best crashing waves.

An idyllic setting, this is the ideal place to stay for those looking for peace and tranquility in an unspoilt part of the beautiful coastline of Tenerife. Lovely walks along the coastal path lead you to restaurants in either direction and it’s approximately 12 km to Los Gigantes with its bustling port and restaurants. So refreshing to stay somewhere so peaceful with beautiful birdsong. The breakfasts are varied and tasty and a match for any 5 star hotel. The evening meals are home cooked Spanish dishes which you can order after breakfast if you wish and are reasonably priced. A small, family run hotel that we’d recommend to anyone who wants a unique experience, away from the maddening crowds.

Okay hotel apart from the breakfast and dinner. If you are not the first one at breakfast you get cold left overs if even those. Same with dinner. It's served cold if you are not an early eater. Seem like staff is always in a hurry to go home. And there is an one glass wine policy at the dinner. If you want an extra glass you have to beg for it.

A lovely hotel, very charmingly located in the middle of a banana plantation. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere, but still in walking distance to the beach and the town of Alcala, where you will find plenty of shops and restaurants but things don't feel overly touristy. Its location in the West of Tenerife is great too, with some of the best weather of the island and short distances to some of the most beautiful spots and locations, like the Teno or Teide National Parks. The hotel is a family business with super friendly and accomodating staff as well as some free roaming animals. The breakfast selection is rather small but quality is good with a lot of homemade products. Dinner is also available if you book it in the morning, but we only did that on arrival day. The rooms are relatively basic, but fine for the price range. A big highlight are the huge balconies, which give an amazing view over the bananas, the ocean and the island of La Gomera, while being quiet and private.

The Hotel Rural El Navío is located outside the town of Alcalá in a banana plantation. The trees stretch in all directions, including down to the Atlantic shore, less than a kilometre away and accessible on foot through the plantation itself. The rooms are pleasant and well equipped, each with a large terrace looking out over the green carpet to the ocean and the island of La Gomera in the distance - when it is visible under its cap of cloud. Bananas are available for guests to help themselves at will and the lounge at reception has a large collection of useful guides and other books about Tenerife. For us the only negative point was the hotel food, which other reviewers have praised. We stayed for 3 nights and had dinner at the hotel each evening, because there are no other restaurants within comfortable walking distance and we did not want to drive out at night, especially as we enjoy a drink with our dinner. Dinner must be ordered before midday on the day itself, and the hotel contacted us before our arrival to ask if we wanted dinner on the first evening. Although we had confirmed that we wanted one of the two starters (it's always only a choice between salad and soup) and the only main course on offer (which is the case each evening, although a vegetarian alternative is available) the waiter (who doubles as receptionist) seemed to think we wanted only the starter salad and offered us dessert afterwards. We succeeded in the end in getting a main course and, to its credit, the hotel waived the charge for this dinner. Although the hotel prides itself on serving authentic local dishes, we actually found the food bland and unimaginative, and worst of all, although the soup was hot, all three main courses that we ate were cold. The same was true of the "hot" dishes at breakfast, which were in a bain-marie but cold. We observed that none of the other guests staying at the same time as us ate dinner at the hotel more than once. We enjoyed our stay at the Navío and the staff at reception were helpful - getting our laundry done and booking a whale-watching cruise from los Gigantes (we saw only dolphins!) - but in the restaurant we had the clear impression that they would have been happier not to have to serve us dinner. Worst of all, one of us found a sharp piece of plastic in her soup at dinner on the second evening, but when we told the staff they just shrugged and quickly changed the subject. So a good hotel all in all, but with some improvement needed in the restaurant.

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a longer holiday in Tenerife. It was an excellent choice as we were looking for somewhere away from the heavily over-developed parts of Tenerife ( and there are a lot of them !). Good sized room and bathroom, with private terrace. Pool was good also. Walked down to the coast and along to the nearby towns each day - no beaches to mention. Lovely position in the bananna plantation. Three course evening meal ( no choice except vegetarion or non-vegetarian for each course) was excellently produced home cooking and very good value at €40 per couple including a bottle of local wine and coffee. This is no 5 star or 4 star resort but a low key well run friendly hotel off the beaten track but still in the popular holiday area. If I went to Tenerife again I would definitely consider this hotel again.

If you want to run away from mass tourism, hassle and stress, this is the right place to spend some days. Located in a middle of a banana plantation in Alcala there is this comfy, countryside, atractive and quiet hotel; and nothing more healthy than have a proper rest having the sounds of nature around you. First and very important is to send a big thank You to Alberto, Giselle and all his lovely team who were fully dedicated and passionate with their work. Tenerife's lovely summer weather was the perfect companion for breakfast time in a terrace, everyday offered with diverse fruits from the farm, coffee or tea and so much more for your choice. The first night dinner was an astonishing Spanish Paella, I was always excited for this moment to come every evening. They served red or white wine produced in the farm. Desserts were all home made and finish the night with a tea or coffee while hearing the birds in the big tree. The private terraces in each room is something remarkable, from there I could admire beautiful sunsets everyday and take the sun in the provided sunbed. Staying in contact with all these natural, countryside elements was memorable and can evoque your best chilhood moments, so I definitely recommend to come and enjoy of real holidays.
