Hotel Rural Fonda De La Tea

A really friendly and welcoming hotel in the delightful village of Tejada. We were there for three days and Ava in particular was amazingly helpful; when someone knows your names when you first arrive that’s a real sign of attentive customer service. The rooms are clean and there’s a sun terrace to watch the sun come up in the morning. Recommended!

Fantastic view over the mountains. The hotel has a terrace with sun quite late, this was appreciated. Nice staff, good breakfast. The downside is the terrible beds. So uncomfortable, seems the madrasses are old and super hard. If you fancy that kind of bed all is super.

Nice traditional Canarian hotel. The terrace on the second floor offers an amazing view over the rocky landscape and four loungers there make this very comfortable. Good breakfast and friendly staff. ||Quite difficult to find at first because access is from one end of the road only. But then it’s only a few minutes’ walk to the many cafes and restaurants along the main drag.

We stayed in one of the appartments, really good with an addictive view. Clean and well prepared.|The breakfasts were serviced in the hotel, those were good and with inspiring pleasure served. Thanks!|Tejeda is quite, and indeed can be called rural, offering lots of options for hiking etc.

This hotel would ordinarily get 4 stars. Views are great, location is nice, staff are friendly albeit one is quite bossy! It loses a star though because of one room: Room 3 which is sold as a standard room however it is actually significantly smaller than any images shown online. It has a tiny double bed that is impossible to share with another adult and still get a good night’s sleep. They know this room is bad because they told me beforehand that the building is old and so some rooms are smaller than others. That’s fine, but they should be sold for a cheaper rate so people know what they are buying. We paid the normal rate and after some complaining following a terrible night’s sleep, we got moved to a normal room (as per website images) for our final two nights. This room was comfortable.

A really lovely little hotel (only 11 rooms) situated in one if not the prettiest village in Gran Canaria. The rooms are simply furnished and spotlessly clean. The hotel has wonderful views out towards the mountains and in particular the sacred mountain of Bentayga. There is limited parking in the small street outside however there is free parking to be found elsewhere in the village. Breakfast is served at the hotel and is continental style with plenty of fresh fruit, eggs meat and breads. However the hotel’s greatest asset is Eva. She runs reception, cleans the rooms and serves breakfast. She has a great sense of humour and will help with any queries you have. She gave us some excellent choices for circular walks nearby. Tejeda is famous for its Almond festival in February however it is also a great base for walking holidays. The hotel has a connection with a local restaurant which is excellent. See separate review.

Staying for three nights while on a two week hiking trek to the Canaries, I felt quite pampered here at the Fonda de la Tea. The hotel itself sits near the center of town with great views and easy access to the few restaurants and shops in town. The hotel has simple, but lovely and clean rooms with an outdoor deck for relaxing right outside one's door. Fina (the manager) handled my check in with professionalism and kindness even though I was sweaty & dirty from a long hiking day. She even arranged to have a vegetarian paella made for me at a village restaurant even though it was not on their usual menu! The breakfasts were beautifully handled by Eva who was beyond helpful each day I was there even getting a cold agua con gas after a hot hiking day when the local SPAR grocery was in their siesta closing hours. It was truly customer service at its finest. This Hotel is very good, made even better by those two women!

How I loved this hotel. Such an amazing welcome from Fina and Eva. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was excellent, breakfast extremely good. Tejeda, itself is a lovely town with a variety of restaurants and cafes. Their own restaurant is about a 3 minute walk away and offers good food and excellent service. Highly recommend this hotel and a visit to Tejeda.
