Finca Las Longueras, Near Agaete, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands - Explore & Book

"The eye-catching Finca Las Longueras lures you like a ruby parrot behind palm trees. A colonial mansion dating from 1895, it is known affectionately as 'La Casa Roja' and was the autumnal residence of an aristocratic Gran Canarian family. Inside, the feel is patrician, not pompous, with an airy conservatory, light-dappled hallways leading to velvet-rich reading rooms, and a shaded terrace where breakfast is served. The 14 guest rooms and suites lie off various corridors and all have views - you could be peering over orange and avocado orchards or, in our case, reaching out of the window to touch (carefully) an immense cactus. As Las Longueras is in a deep valley, craggy mountains loom above you in a dramatic backdrop. You could hike to one of the island's highest peaks, Tamadaba, seen from the lushly landscaped pool... or you could just ask that young Dutch couple at breakfast how tough the trek is, and then stay on a lounger. Hiking or hanging out, Las Longueras covers both in grand style. Highs Spectacular location in a tranquil valley, with mountains encircling the finca's abundant orchards Rooms are spacious, with the owners' family antiques and paintings adding a yesteryear touch. There are also 2 Junior Suites with contemporary fittings, for those who prefer more modern décor Large landscaped pool with a little kitchen/honesty bar Gorgeous grounds, well-groomed by the long-standing gardener You're just 2km from Puerto de las Nieves, for swimming and day trips to Tenerife Lows Breakfast is the only meal served and you'll need to walk 2km to the closest restaurants The gravel road leading down to Las Longueras is full of hairpins and potholes - the family is trying to convince the local council to pave and improve it Some rooms could do with refurbishing (tired fabrics and furniture) The pool can feel a little chilly at times" - Glenda Richards

The weather was a bit cold and rainy whist we were there, but I think the whole island suffered, not just this area. Amazing view at breakfast. Room was OK - no sign of a four-poster bed in some of the photos and no option to choose our room when I booked. Breakfast was very good and dinner was OK (3 course set dinner for E20) - but it was nice to chat to the other guests and the caterers DID adjust the food for my wife's diet, so thanks for that! Nice kitties.

This hotel has bags of character with relaxing grounds and great views. Lourdes was so helpful on reception and we ate here a couple of times in the evening, there is a set menu each day with 3 courses, coffee & water for 20E but you need to let them know in the morning if you want to eat there that evening.|We walked to Agate and Puerto de las Nieves from here on walking trails but if you want to explore further a car is helpful.|The room was clean & comfortable but the shower wasn't great. |We loved breakfast on the terrace looking out onto the mountains beyond.|There is a pool which we sat round but we didn't use as it was a tad cold for me but a lovely setting among the fruit trees.

A really lovely hotel in a charming and delightful Spanish country house. The rooms are spacious, the grounds are well worth walking round and the pool is a great place to spend the day. The highlights though are the staff who couldn’t have been friendlier throughout our three day stay. Special mention to Lourdes and Edyla who went above and beyond to reunite me with a personally valuable item of clothing after I’d left it behind. Breakfast on the terrace as the sun comes up behind the hills is a wonderful memory to sustain through the rest of January back in Britain.

This charming old hotel is situated in the beautiful Agaete valley. The views are fantastic, the garden of citrus fruits, avocados, mangoes etc is lovely, but the staff were really exceptional. |My husband is partly disabled and all the staff were so helpful and friendly. We ate an excellent breakfast each morning on a terrace looking out at the mountains and the evening meal, typical Canarian home cooking, was communal and convivial. |We did need to hire a car to get about as the hotel is isolated, but so peaceful and quiet. |We enjoyed a really delightful stay!

A beautiful finca set in the magnificent Agaete valley. Views from the breakfast terrace are simply stunning, with walking routes directly from the hotel. We were impressed by the service, we arrived as veggies without prior notification, but the chef improvised superbly.

We spend two nights in this hotel and its surroundings. It was great, especially by the friendly staff and impressive nature around.|The building is old and well maintained and adapted to this era.|Recommended!||Breakfast is well prepared and served, diner is - as mentioned on beforehand - local and straightforward. However, good!

Very nice historical hotel in the valley. The breakfast view is amazing and the pool is big and nicely located. They have a catering service for dinner which was ok. In general the hotel could use some maintenance.

This country house has an extraordinary location with breathtaking views of the mountains and surrounding scenery. A great place to relax or use as a starting point to hike. If you’re without a car it may be a bit isolated, but that’s the price you pay for the stunning natural beauty. The breakfast is amazing - a wonderful selection of freshly made to order dishes accompanied by freshly squeezed orange juice and possibly the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen from breakfast! The rooms are beautiful decorated in a classical style appropriate for the mansion. This is the real deal. Don’t expect minimalist modern furniture you find in chain hotels - none of that here. The staff are fantastic and take care of your every need. The owner is a master hostess who treats guests with a personalised level of attentiveness. One word of advice for guests - bring earplugs because the local wildlife can be a bit noisy at night - especially the resident cockerel. It’s not a negative at all, you are staying in the middle of a farm after all!
