For a single person my double room was big enough for one person but for two it would be a squeeze. The bedsheet and towel were stained. The bathroom was ok but only had a tiny bar of soap and no water glass or any other amenities you’d expect in a hotel. The bathroom fan was very loud. There are only two charging sockets in the room. The old building has beautiful exposed stone walls so it’s awful to go into the bar and have a loud slot machine by the entrance and a loud TV the opposite end of the bar. In the dining room I had to move as yet again the wine fridge was very loud. The menu del Dia was the most expensive I’ve had on the Via de la Plata pilgrimage at €19.50 and there’s an a la carte menu. Supper is only served from 9.30pm onwards. There’s an area outside the hotel with tables and chairs by the road with occasional traffic. It means that people with bedrooms overlooking this area may not get much sleep as the bar stays open late. I couldn’t open the shutters in my room and although there is an air conditioning unit, the monitor had been removed so it was very warm. The staff were pleasant but very busy as it’s the only place in the village to eat and drink as far as I could tell. The village is very pretty with a tourist office and the area is famous for wolves and hikes, especially by bike. |The reason for my poor rating apart from what I’ve mentioned, is that I booked to eat at 08.30am the following day but when I came down to breakfast there was no one around, no breakfast and the room was covered in dirty dishes and glasses from the night before. I had booked a taxi for 9am and despite phoning the hotel I left without breakfast which I’d paid for. I’ve never stayed in a hotel with such a disgraceful bar and lack of staff and no breakfast before a hike of 13 miles to do.

The rooms are basic but very functional. The WiFi is very fast as well. However the options on the dinner and lunch menus are pretty scarce and the rooms are dirty in places. Also the beds aren't particularly comfortable. Overall the service is good.

Five likely lads on a trip to the Spanish slate mines||Stopped at the hotel Remesol to sleep and dine||For two euros twenty you get a large beer||complimented with free crisps and olives, we're loving it here||||In to the restaurant for a real treat||For starter ham croquettes, all lined up looking quite neat||The main course delivered a feast to the eyes||Nine lamb chops served with five different sides||||Peter and Alistair had ordered the beef||On its arrival it brought gasps of disbelief||A piece of meat that could easily feed four||To devour it , wasn't a battle, but more of a war||||To a single room with plenty of Spanish charm||The bed a small double, and it did me no harm||Interior walls constructed from local rustic stone||Decorated in typical Spanish colours and tones||||Overall Hotel Remesol is a very nice place ||with hardworking staff who serve you at pace||Its been a pleasure to have experienced a true part of Spain||Would i come back, of course, definitely again.

We spent two nights at the Remesal Hotel and found it a very bright, clean and friendly hotel. We were there to do wild wolf experiences and that together with the hotel, the historic surrounding villages and the food and hospitality we would have no hesitation going back, highly recommended.

Family run hotel in quiet town. Clean and well appointed room, overlooking garden. Pleasant, friendly hosts. Close to Sierra de Culebra for wolf watching. Highly recommended
