Having spent our 40th anniversary in Paris at Hotel Saint Louis en l'Isle, it seemed only right to spend our 50th there also. You will ask why, I'm sure. The answer is faith, faith that all the things that contributed to a wonderful experience the first time would still be there. We were not disappointed. The location and atmosphere are old Paris, the Paris of those films you watched that first stirred your imagination to consider a visit. ||The rooms are well appointed, the bath contains a roomy shower with abundant hot water, towel warmer and hair dryer. Room amenities include electric kettle, a selection of teas and coffee, WiFi, closet and a safe. Daily maid service ensured the room was clean and fresh towels were on hand.|For a fee the hotel hosts the petit dejeuner with fresh fruit, croissants and breads, a favorite of ours, thank you again Mariska.|The staff had changed to some degree in the 10 years since our last visit, in personnel but not in the care and friendliness they exhibited toward us. Help and information was always at hand should it be needed. Perhaps the term staff is too cold when used to describe the individuals with whom we interacted daily. They seem more like a family, one that welcomes you as if you are part of it.||Looking forward to spending our 60th there as well.

Staying here is one of the quintessential Parisian experiences: boutique hotel in a historic building with the limitations on space, a quirky elevator that can only stop between floors and rather thin walls plus early morning street cleaning. BUT, the bed’s comfy, the linen crisp, the bathroom redone. Come for the location, bring as small of a suitcase as possible and enjoy being part of the destination.

We love this hotel. We spent our 40th anniversary here 10 years ago and could not have chosen any other hotel to spend our 50th. The staff here is like family and those we have not seen for ten years greeted us with a warmth found only in a reunion after many years. We hope to return again, and not wait until our 60th anniversary.

We loved this hotel. The location is perfect, in the middle of eveything. The neighborhood is safe and filled with action. The room was very small, but it was clean, modern and had everything we needed. Housekeeping did a great job! The breakfast area is super charming and the food looked good; we only had coffee.

This was the last stop on our 11 day trip across France. This was probably the most budget conscious choice that we made, but were not disappointed. The hotel is quite small, but charming. The elevator is tiny, but was workable. The rooms weren't huge, but they were well appointed and very clean. Nice bathrooms too. Located in a very bustling area, lots of locals and a fun, vibrant atmosphere. SO many restaurants nearby. The staff was excellent, very attentive and friendly. Nice buffet breakfast in the morning and assisted us with suggestions for dinner. Be advised that there is no metro stop on this island, but there is one pretty close by, just a short walk over the bridge.

This hotel is perfect, the building is cozy and comfortable and chic but also has so much historic charm. The location is supreme and you can easily walk to so many places. Really top notch for all people, but especially if this is your first time in Paris or if you don’t speak a lot of French. As for the staff, all I can say is thank you thank you thank you! Check in was a breeze, incredibly easy to book a driver to anywhere, and everyone is so welcoming and polite. Also, I left very important items in my room after I checked out and they retrieved them, put them aside, and are mailing them all the way to the US so I can have them back ASAP. Honestly, I think this hotel is much better than many 4 star hotels I have stayed at and a true treasure in Paris. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend you do too.

The rooms are tiny. We arrived late in the day and they could not find a room key for almost 30 minutes . We had to carry our bags up 1/2 flight of windy stairs. When we arrived in the room it smelled of feces. We were advised that the last guest had moved rooms but nothing else was available. Lovely staff but really not a pleasant experience !

This hotel is in the perfect location for a visit to Paris. It’s right in the shadow of the Cathedral of Notre Dame and it’s close to restaurants, the Metro and within walking distance of many attractions.||Although the building is old, the owners have made the capital improvements to provide the modern conveniences. The bathroom was updated with a nice shower, a cute window that opened and a heated towel rack. They offer breakfast in a cozy spot in what I would call the basement, but it’s updated and cheery, the food is good and it’s staffed by pleasant and accommodating personnel. There is always someone on duty at the front desk. We used the car service and they were very professional on on-time.||Our room (102) was very small, and it didn’t have any electrical outlets near the head of the bed. (There were USB-A outlets, but no plugs or USB-C). And there were no outlets in the bathroom.||The main reason that I didn’t rate it higher was that the bed linens were terrible - way beneath the caliber of the hotel in general. Over the mattress was a very worn flat (not fitted) sheet that was covered with ‘pills’ on one side. There was no mattress pad, and the sheet seemed small for the bed. They covered the sheet with a duvet, and they tucked the duvet in under the mattress. When you pulled down the duvet, it untucked the flat sheet as well. We had to re-tuck the sheet in each night before we could get in bed. But inevitably, we moved during the night and woke up to find we were partially lying on the raw, uncovered mattress.||The pillows on the bed were even worse. They were clearly well past their prime and were filled with lumpy pieces of foam. I had to fold my pillow in half just to have some substance under my head (& a good pillow shouldn’t stay folded). They were very uncomfortable. I left a note for the maid asking her to change out the pillows, but that didn’t happen.||One day the maid forgot to put bath-sized towels in our room. I went down to the front desk to request two, but they only had one left. I learned that they send out their towels and linens to be washed, and we couldn’t get the second bath towel until the next day.||I realize that I should have alerted the front desk about the sheets and pillows after the first night, but I didn’t. (I’ll blame jet lag.) I mentioned it when I checked out, and the woman at the desk seemed very concerned and was apologetic - otherwise I would have rated the hotel lower. So I take some responsibility for not raising the issuer earlier. ||Would I stay there again? Probably since the location is so good and the staff so wonderful. My only hesitation would be those neck-aching cheap, old pillows. I worry that they might not have a suitable replacement on hand. ||Please be aware that if you have trouble with steps, this may not be a good choice for you. The elevator was broken for several of the days we were there (including our arrival day), so their spiral stairs were the only option. And the set from the ground floor up to Floor 1 has the hand rail on the inside (near the tiny steps in the spiral), making it even a bit more dangerous for someone with mobility issues.

Yelp
July 2024. The security around the hotel for the olympics made it such that you could not access the hotel. The hotel took our money in a prepaid online last minute booking. Turned out you needed a QR code to access the hotel (again olympic security). That would be annoying but ok. However, the hotel then refused to give us a refund, and were almost abusive in the communications to us. If you read the online reviews it is budget friendly, in a nice area, but any issues - with refunds, even when given an appropriate notice or in our case when we were unable to access, they become impossible. If you want any flexibility or customer service to do not go here.

Yelp
This was my second stay at this hotel. I chose it for its location. It's a short walk to the pedestrian bridge to Île de la Cité for tourist attractions and the métro there or a walk across the Pont Marie for a different métro line. The rooms are small as is the bathroom. There is a shower stall. There is almost no storage at all. Had there been two people in the room, I don't know where we would have fit another suitcase. There is a closet, half of which is taken up by a mini refrigerator. The bed was comfortable and I slept well but then I walked so much I'd have to be on heavy caffeine not to sleep. I do agree with the sound made by the keys. There is a large, metal fleur de lis on each key chain. This can bang around as you unlock your door. The key chain also doubles as a plug in to operate the lights in the room so there is no waste of electricity when you're gone. The wifi is very slow and not effective at certain times of the day. I found I got better service from my iPhone than from my laptop. I found the front desk staff to be helpful. I never asked for restaurant recommendations but they arranged for my car to go back to CDG and it was there exactly on schedule.

Yelp
We love this boutique hotel. It was recently renovated, and we have seen the nice change since we have stayed there before. The location is outstanding - near Notre Dame, the Latin Quarters, Marais district and easy access to the metros. The hotel is surrounded by cafes, restaurants and ice cream shops. Dennis, the hotel manager/reception is so friendly and most helpful. We will stay here again.

Yelp
Solid five stars! The hotel is small, 20 rooms. The lobby is nonexistent. Everything is handled by a person sitting at a desk. When I arrived with my daughter and two grand-daughters we were greeted by Bernard. He brought our luggage up to our rooms and basically turned into a wonderful source of information and knowledge during our stay. To reiterate, the hotel is tiny as are the rooms. The structure is from the 17th Century. There is a circular staircase as well as an elevator that can accommodate two people. The floor stops are a little odd in that the lift stops between floors. We had two rooms on the third floor so our stop was 2/3. I mention this so anyone with mobility issues realizes that rooms are not easily accessible. I was thrilled because the bathrooms had stone showers - no slippery tubs to concern myself with. Each bathroom has a wall heating unit as I don't believe there is central heat. I didn't care because I love having the windows open to take in the sounds and the smells of Paris. Location is on Ile de Saint Louis. It is actually considered in the Marais. Super location with respect to sights, the Seine, restaurants and shops. The is some car traffic on the street however for the most part it's just foot traffic. The rooms were very comfortable and the room keys are really keys, not plastic cards. They have a huge Fleur de Lis attached to the key ring as well as a rectangular object that must be inserted into a wall slot to keep the room electricity on. Lovely hotel! Staff is super friendly and helpful. Bernard went above and beyond what was expected of him even so far as to point out restaurants that served decent pizza for the "oh so fussy" grand kids. I would chose location again in a heartbeat. Glad I discovered it.

Yelp
I have tried to reach this hotel via email and by phone. No response to the email,no answer to the phone. Does anyone know if this hotel is still open?

Yelp
This is a gem. Great location, quiet, great amenities -- air conditioning that meets American standards. Early breakfast available hours before Sleepy Parisians rise. Good rates with advance booking. Helpful, courteous, kind.

Yelp
I have been to Paris many times, and have stayed in a variety of hotels! This location was great! The train from the airport made this a cheap, easy to Norte Dame stop, quick walk across the bridge to the first street! This is a lovely boutique hotel! Comfortable beds! So easy to get around Paris from here! Terrific walks along the Seine, easy boat access, train! This isle is filled with Michelin Star restaurants as the bonus!

Yelp
This hotel remains a sentimental favorite personally as I booked a solo stay in 2006. Back then it wasn't renovated to what it is now so it was just a basic 2* hotel which happened to be well-located on the Ile St. Louis. And the rates were reflective of the starred rating so it was an excellent bargain to me. I would suggest booking or requesting one of their corner rooms (which I got to choose on arrival day). These are brighter as they have two sets of windows overlooking the street. The bathroom I had was tinier than tiny, but luckily at that time they did manage to renovate the shower/tub area so it was very modern. However, there was hardly any space to move around as the entire bathroom was like a closet. As for the service it was all excellent. The reception, particularly Bernard, was very friendly and attentive of my needs.

Yelp
A sense of comfort and a home away from home! In searching for a hotel to stay for 10 days over Christmas, it was very important to me to get character, quality, a Parisian feel, and a good location in the place I stayed. I received all of this with Hotel Saint Louis. While they didn't have a room in the hotel proper on the dates requested (I admit, I waited longer than I should have to email them for availability), they offered a studio room down the adorable cobble stoned street. It was perfect - there was a two burner range, sink, mini-fridge, coffee pot, and hot water heater as well as some kitchen supplies and of course a bottle opener! The bed was comfortable (firm), and had clean, nice linens. There is a small table with two chairs, free wifi, large flat screened cable tv (but who needs TV in Paris?!), and a small closet with extra linens, a blanket, and a mini-ironing board. The bathroom was spacious, hair dryer included, lots of towels, soap, shampoo/ conditioner. It truly felt like a small apartment. It was on the 3rd floor (2nd for Europeans) of a narrow spiral staircase and overlooked a lovely and quiet courtyard. You enter through a (former) motor court coded gate. In all, it was comfy, charming, safe, and quiet. I actually got a stomach flu while visiting and was glad to be in such a comfortable, homey space. Despite what the previous Yelper posted, I found the neighborhood very Parisian. I'lle de Saint Louis is an affluent residential neighborhood. There are some great bistros and of course the famous Berthillon ice cream down the street. I completely disagree with her assessment of how touristy the neighborhood is (I found it wasn't much) and that the staff was quite friendly and helpful. The location is ideal - right across a small bridge to Notre Dame, and the hotel and neighborhood are lovely and romantic. The hotel staff offered us free daily Continental breakfast due to the fact that our little apartment of sorts, wouldn't be cleaned daily. They did clean the room every 3 days which was more than I'd expected. The breakfast was great as well. Fresh baguette and croissants, cheeses, fruit, juices, teas, coffee, meats, soft boiled eggs all were a perfect start to a day walking the city. We booked via email and there were absolutely no problems with the agreement for free breakfast or anything of the nature the previous reviewer mentioned. I would highly recommend this hotel and the neighborhood and look forward to staying there again in the future!

Yelp
My husband I and stayed here the week after Christmas. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!! What an adorable little island! Super close to Notre Dame which was perfect to walk around and do all the touristy things we wanted to do. The service at the hotel was great. We're a low maintenance couple, so other than handing in and getting our key, we didn't need much assistance. The rooms were beautifully done. Very rustic with the exposed beams. The shower was surprisingly large which was nice! The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. My only complaint.. My husband and I are light sleepers and it was SO quiet, that it was actually noisy. By that I mean whenever there was a sound, it was almost magnified to us. For example someone using their key to get in to their room next to us, someone going up and down the stairs or the very 'active' couple above us. So we didn't really get a lot of sleep. Other than that it was PERFECT. Hope that helps.

Yelp
We just returned from a trip that included a six night stay at this small, wonderfully located gem of a hotel we discovered on our last trip to France. This second stay confirmed out notion that we will probably never stay anywhere else when in Paris. Some of the rooms are small, but they are all quiet at night, and tastefully decorated. Located on the Ile de Saint Louis, it is less than 200 yards from the pedestrian bridge to the Ile de Cite and the Notre Dame. Walking distance to the Marais and the Louvre and d'Orsay museums.

Yelp
I have held off doing this for a while so as to not let my anger at what happened here make me write a review that did not reflect the experience I had. After a few months I can safely say that Meh, I've experienced better, is about right for this place. Here's my breakdown. Rooms: Adorable and characterful. The bathrooms are large by European standards (you can turn around in them) and there is bed that is reasonably comfortable. Location: It is in the thick of it. By it, I mean tourist mecca. If you come here do not expect Parisians to be anywhere near here and certainly do not expect a solid french Bistro meal from the restaurants located right near the hotel. Still, Berthillon is close by and the metro is as well. So, you have easy access to just about anywhere you want to be. Service: Here is where they are lacking and in a BIG way. The staff is minimal and distant during the day. They also aren't very useful when it comes to anything other than the most basic of enquiries into Paris activities. They have the obligatory college student running the desk at night, no big deal, but it does mean that if you are looking for dinner recommendations or any other concierge services, this is not the place for you. Also, make sure you get all your confirmation in writing (email is fine). They confirmed an extension of one night with me over the phone and when I asked for them to send an update email they said it was not needed. So imagine my shock when they did NOT honor it. We had to move rooms halfway through our stay. We actually had to cut a tour of the Louvre short so that we could head back to the hotel and pack up our things and move rooms. When we complained that they had done this and that all the other rooms they "found for us" were far more expensive they refused to make up the difference and were quite rude about it. In a nutshell: There are a TON of hotels on this street. I wouldn't say it's one of the worst places I have been to. It's clean, has enough charm and the bathrooms are large enough to take a proper shower. The staff are not terribly rude in general but they lack basic customer service know how. For me however the worse part about this hotel is that it lacks soul and romance and really, what the hell are you doing in Paris if soul and romance don't matter to you? For my money Hotel du Jeu de Paume is a MUCH better hotel and only a block away at most.

Cameron Z.

Yelp
Charming little place, clean and cozy, convenient for walking tours, and a Metro station right across the bridge. The A/C works well and the controls are effective. The downstairs breakfast was surprisingly good. Wish I could give them five stars, but there were just too many little things. The shower door doesn't work right and the showerhead mount is broken and won't stay put. The mattress was really hard. The day and night shift don't communicate and the night shift has no access to linens, took us two days to get a top sheet for the bed. The TV puts out a bright blue night light. I had to hang some tee shirts over it to darken the room enough to sleep. (We're visiting Paris, who needs a TV?) The desk clerk was very friendly and gave us good restaurant advice, but also gave us consistently wrong directions for the Metro and airport transport. The WiFi signal is strong but completely unsecured. Don't log into anything you care about if you are not using a VPN, your passwords can be stolen by the malware on anybody else's device on the network. (This problem was surprisingly widespread during our visit to Sweden and France. Apparently the ISPs who serve hotels, restaurants, and airports are under no pressure to adopt WPA2 Wifi security there. The theatrics you go through to identify yourself to the hotel's ISP provide no security.)
