Hotel Le Sainte-Beuve, Montparnasse, Paris, France - Explore & Book

"A little off the tourist trail (and all the better for it), Saint-Beuve’s homely charm makes it an ideal place to retreat after a long day of sightseeing. The delightfully warm and welcoming salon is a magnet for guests passing through: there are Ionian pillars, balls of rose petals, plush sofas, smart red armchairs and a big marble fireplace where you can saunter up, pluck a log from the wicker basket and stoke the fire. A perfect example of a small Parisian hotel, you feel at home the moment you walk through the door. Manager Amandine is charming, the staff are caring, the bedrooms are crisp and elegant, and the price is spot-on. Though it opened years ago, our latest revisit revealed that standards remain high, and the team are a friendly mine of knowledge on the local area. They will also book tables, supply maps, and even lend umbrellas if the need arises. A real bonus of this hotel is that you’re down in Montparnasse, off the south-western shores of the Jardin du Luxembourg, and next to beautiful Saint Germain des Prés, so you can walk off any excess amid glorious formal gardens. Highs They want you to think of Sainte-Beuve as your Parisian home - we found it to be smart, comfortable, relaxing and very welcomingThe salon is a relaxing and warm spot to lingerThe Jardin du Luxembourg is on your doorstep, the Latin Quarter just beyond, and you're well placed for Montparnasse's charming cafés and eateriesLovely décor with bold colours and antique furnishing; put together by famous British designer David Hicks It's good value considering its location and charm Lows The classic bedrooms at the back overlook the courtyard and are rather bijoux (though this is symptomatic of Paris)The hotel has a classic rather than contemporary chic styleIt's a fair way south of the main sites, but they're easily accessible by metro or on foot" - Tom Bell

Everything about our stay here was perfect. The welcome on arrival, holding on to our cases as we were there hours before check in so went off to explore. We had a balcony room and it was beautiful, the view of the Parisian street was so lovely. |The staff were always so friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an ideal location near the metro and bus stops, but with lots of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. We would 100% recommend staying here. Thank you for a lovely stay

Overall a very good stay – would recommend.||The room size was surprisingly spacious for Paris standards – much larger than many other hotels I’ve stayed in. The bathroom was also quite big, which was a pleasant surprise. The interiors are beautifully designed with a luxurious touch, and the view from the window was stunning. We had a street view, just as I requested, and it truly added to the experience.||The reception staff were excellent – professional, friendly, and very helpful. They spoke English well and assisted with anything we needed. Their warm attitude made us feel genuinely welcome. Five stars to the reception team!||The location is perfect. There are a couple of supermarkets right next to the hotel – Monop is in the neighboring building, and Franprix is just downstairs (I recommend it). Two metro stations are just a 5-minute walk away, and there are several bus stops nearby. Getting around the city was very easy. Plus, Luxembourg Garden is right across the street – I absolutely loved that.||Now to the downsides:|There was no kettle in the room, which I found quite inconvenient. While complimentary tea and coffee are available in the lobby after 11 am, it’s still much more comfortable to have a kettle in the room, especially in the mornings or late at night. I really missed having one. (Removing 1 star for the kettle). ||Also, the room cleaning could use improvement. Sometimes the cleaner would forget to empty the bin or not replace used items. Of course, the reception staff would quickly resolve any issue when asked, but I do hope the hotel will work on improving their housekeeping.||Overall, the stay was very enjoyable, and I would still recommend this hotel – especially for the spacious rooms, fantastic location, and outstanding front desk service. Just a kettle in the room would make it perfect.

We stayed here for a couple of days, the room was small and cosy with a nice balcony! The area was great too with loads of shops and restaurants near by. The staff were lovely and kind and always on hand when needed ||Would recommend to others :)

From the moment we stepped into Hotel Sainte-Beuve, we knew we had found something special. The beautiful reception area, filled with warmth and understated elegance, immediately set the tone for our stay. Check-in and check-out were effortless, and the 24/7 staff could not have been more gracious - Ivan and a stunning young woman (whose name I regret not catching) went out of their way to make us feel welcome, safe, and cared for at every hour.||||Our room was breathtaking—a quintessential Parisian retreat, complete with antique-style furnishings, soft, harmonious textiles, and all the charm you'd hope for in a Left Bank boutique hotel. We loved the separate toilet and bath configuration, and the bathroom itself was luxurious: plush towels, a towel warmer, robe and slippers, and thoughtfully selected bath linens all contributed to the sense of refined comfort. We especially appreciated the lovely balcony, which offered the iconic Parisian experience we’d dreamed of - without the noise! It was surprisingly quiet despite the hotel’s central location.||||Each detail felt curated with care - from the classical music softly playing in the lift, to the gentle lighting and welcoming ambiance throughout the property. The continental breakfast each morning was a treat not to be missed: fresh-squeezed orange juice, perfect French pastries, and artisanal breads, all served in a cozy, intimate setting that felt like an elegant home.||||The neighbourhood itself is a dream - a perfect blend of calm and connection. With outstanding restaurants nearby (we highly recommend Moustache, located right next door), and easy access to both walking routes and metro lines, we found ourselves effortlessly exploring all corners of the city.||||Though we only stayed three short nights, the hotel began to feel like a small community, warm and familiar. We left feeling refreshed, spoiled, and utterly enchanted.||||We cannot wait to return to this exquisite property - the epitome of Parisian charm and hospitality.

Great stay overall – would recommend. The room was spacious for Paris standards, with a large bathroom and beautiful, luxurious interiors. We had a lovely street view, just as requested. The location is excellent – close to two metro stations, bus stops, and right across from Luxembourg Garden. Supermarkets like Monop and Franprix are right next door. Reception staff were amazing – professional, friendly, and very helpful. Really felt welcomed! Downsides: no kettle in the room, which was inconvenient. They offer complimentary tea/coffee in the lobby after 11 am, but a kettle would’ve been better. Also, cleaning could be improved – some small things were missed, but the front desk always resolved it quickly. Still, a very good experience and I’d happily stay again.

A charming boutique hotel, oozing style and blessed with great service from attentive staff (who were helpful and informative even in the weeks prior to check-in). Continental breakfast is extremely generous for the price, with premium ingredients. Great for public transport links, or a pleasant 30’ walk to the river. Beds are very comfortable, decor is stylish. We had interconnecting rooms for a party of four. If both had been like the larger, street-facing, room this would have been a 5* review; the other was small - albeit typical perhaps for Paris - but very gloomy: dark paintwork and looking out into a shabby well formed by the surrounding buildings gave very little light. That was a shame but a forgivable one. Just make sure to book a street facing room.

This is such a cozy hotel. It reminds me of a “Pensione” of days gone by. Rooms are well appointed. The downstairs is a living room worth hanging out in with a good book. Coffee and tea always available throughout the day. And the art work is eclectic and awesome.

We stayed in the superior room, and it felt small. The employees were very nice. I didn't feel like it was a 4-star hotel. A tourist trap, not close to any places in Paris, without having to Metro or taxi, not within walking distance.

Yelp
Stayed for just one night. Very clean. Small as expected. Possibly even smaller and tighter than New York hotels. We had even brought along our extra small luggages and the hotel room still felt small. Shower was clogged but that was the only downside. AC worked great. Hot water was scalding! Don't get in until you set the temperature because I can see accidentally scalding yourself if you adjust the temperature while in there. Can hear everything.

Yelp
Lovely hotel in the 6th Arrondissement. Absolutely charming. Small rooms yes, but that is standard in Paris, and we were pleasantly surprised in being able to add a single bed in the room (small extra charge) for our six year old and still comfortably enjoy our stay. The lobby is warm and cheery with a wood burning fireplace, fresh pastries left out at tea time, the NY Times on offer: a very sophisticated feeling to the stay. The location was wonderful, on a quiet small street with very little street noise, but just down our tiny street were two excellent restaurants, a custom shoemaker and around the corner a variety of the type of shops and cafes that make this such a fantastic neighborhood to stay at in Paris. Rooms and lobby were well decorated, and the bathroom we had was immaculate with warm (hot!) water, fresh robes, towels that were generous and fluffy by European standards, and two pairs of slippers. Breakfast at 15 Euro is expensive, but tasty (and really a standard price in Paris hotels, unfortunately) and the set up in the lobby is charming. We ordered one (a generous breadbasket, jams, etc.) and a second coffee, and we were perfectly set for the day. The hotel staff were family friendly, spoke English and were happy to make reservations, hold bags, call taxis and make any arrangements needed to make ours a wonderful stay.

Yelp
This hotel charged me a markup of 3.9% ($60) for paying the bill in USD without informing me of this charge. Not only did they refuse to return the money to my credit card but they blamed me...? This hotel has no problem with charging their customers an extra fee without telling them and will not work with you to rectify the issue. What kind of business is willing to do this for $60? I regret staying at this place. Also, the hotel room I stayed in was pretty uncomfortable for two people and it was the largest room on the floor.

Yelp
Perfect hospitality. A great hotel for a solo traveler. Rooms fine but a bit small for a couple. But lovely ambiance. Great location. Quiet street but adjacent to Tje busy Montparnasse and LuxembourgGardens.

Yelp
Fantastic location near the best quartier in the 6th. We were two ladies who stayed in a 2 single bed room. The bathroom and closets are very roomy. The elevator was right next our room but thanks to the double doors, we heard nothing. The staff was kind and friendly and even arrange for a doctor to come because I was not feeling well when we arrived. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because of the electrical outlet issues. We came back one day with no electricity in our room They checked and indicated that it was a breaker that got jumped. As soon as they fix it, it went out again. After several tries and investigations, they decided that it was because we were using the "wrong" outlet converter. They gave us one of theirs and even with theirs, some of the outlets still did not work. This was very frustrating and I found it odd that they blamed us. I was hoping that they would comp our breakfast one day due to the inconvenience but bien sûr que non. So besides that, we had a nice stay...

Yelp
Charming hotel, in a great area full of restaurants, walking distance of the Pantheon. The hotel was well remodeled and very clean. The rooms and elevator are Parisian size, aka small but very lovely. The staff was great. We had a wonderful stay. I would suggest staying here.

Yelp
Delightful hotel very centrally located near the metro. The rooms are small and quite cozy with pretty windows . Everyone is very kind and helpful. Be sure to stop at the boulangerie/patisserie on the corner of Vavin for a morning coffee and pastry .

Yelp
Simply the best boutique hotel in the best location--the back side of Luxembourg Gardens. This is the Paris neighborhood where you would live if you won the lottery and still had taste. And, the hotel staff is beyond helpful with anything you might need.

Yelp
The hotel is quaint. My room was small, but adequate for one person. I was on vacation and slept in most mornings. After a couple days of construction noise in the morning from next door, I informed the manager. He explained that noise during the day was inevitable but asked me to come back next day if noise persisted. I understand it was not the hotel's fault. The noise persisted and I insisted to change room. The manager moved me to a sister hotel nearby. Both hotel locations are walking distance to subway, mini market, Jardin Luxembourg and nice restaurants. The only thing is for a boutique hotel, it was not very personable or warm in my opinion. The manager did his job, but was very matter of fact and all business, which was my experience with him. I understand it's a business so certain level of professionalism is expected but he was quite cold for the duration of my stay. While I could have stayed at a high end hotel chain, I chose to stay here. Because I was traveling solo, I wanted to feel comfortable and welcome. Sadly my experience was the opposite. I didn't feel they value my business even though I spent 2 weeks here, not cheap money I may add. I travel to Paris quite often but I have not stayed here since.
