How to Plan the Perfect Ski Trip to Zell am See, Austria

"A five-star option prized for "exceptional service and expansive spa" facilities where guests can use indoor and outdoor pools, relax in saunas, or book massages; its on-site restaurant is highlighted for dishes like artichoke ravioli and local beef steaks." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. We had a wonderful stay at the Salzburgerhof. The food was excellent all week and the Christmas atmosphere in the hotel was really special. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and everything was very clean throughout the hotel. The shuttle to and from the ski area worked brilliantly and made getting around really easy. The spa area is fantastic and a great place to relax after skiing. While the kids were in the kids’ club, we were able to enjoy some relaxing adult time in the spa, which was a real bonus. There are two swimming pools, which worked really well for us as a family. The pool downstairs is ideal for children to play in without disturbing anyone, which we really appreciated. The kids’ club was a real highlight for us. It’s run by Diane, and although our children don’t usually go to kids’ clubs, once they tried it we couldn’t keep them away. They talked about Diane all week and every evening it was an argument to get them to come to dinner. We honestly think they would have been perfectly happy skipping skiing altogether and just going to the kids’ club. We will definitely be back.

Had a lovely 4 day stay mid-Dec to ski. Hotel facilities are great. All the wellness you need. Transfers to lifts although cityxpress is less than 10 min walk. I went full board with interesting evening variations (and entertainment most nights), hearty lunch and an afternoon cake buffet. The staff were attentive, engaging and efficient. My only "gripe" was the 100 euro late checkout fee...but thems the rules and i think you get very good value here. I went for the most basic room but it was very spacious and for the cost just excellent. Highly recommended.

Silent, peaceful, clean, friendly, welcoming. Short walk from train/bus station.|Recommend to look up the active programm and sign up for morning yoga or pilates, same for sauna infusions - they are worth it.|They have very pleasant setup, garden, fountain, pound, waterfalls. Pleasant water running sound from all sides, giving option to find your zen. Many different areas to relax with different views and vibes. The wellness castle balcony and pound is my favorites for sure.|The food is delicious, and drink menu, morning breakfast with "perfect organic egg (poached egg with tomato and basil) with waffle and fresh honey is a dream. Beat combo there is, ok maybe add a bit of salmon and cappuccino. Ouh and the cheese bar at dinner - ouh my, you are not ready for it. And the butter options for breakfast. You are for a treat, i promise you. 😄|It might be confusing in first day to find all the corners - just be brave and look around, or ask the staff. Let yourself settle and enjoy the holiday. 🙂|🧘‍♀️🏝️😎

Not only is the location perfect and the hotel gorgeous but the service is impeccable! Edo, Josip, Stela & Tamara were the BEST! They remembered our preferences every day. As soon as we finished our coffee, they appeared! You can tell that they are well trained-professional, attentive & extremely personable. The breakfast is unbelievable! Dinners are delicious! We took advantage of a couples treatment in the spa which was relaxing & very special. All the amenties just add to how incredible this hotel is. 5 stars is not enough! We have decided to return every year.

We had the most wonderful time in The Salzburgerhof! From the moment we arrived to the day we left, we felt welcomed and valued as guests. The hotel has an extremely welcoming feel, warm and genuine. It is in very much a tasteful traditional Austrian style with staff in traditional clothes but also has the most astonishing up to date amenities. I have NEVER stayed in a hotel with such an AMAZING Spa , it has absolutely everything you could possibly desire and more than you could ever imagine you would need. It is worth coming to this hotel for the Spa alone. |The Hotel also boasts the hight of luxury. Rooms well equipped with comfortable large beds, tastefully decorated, deep bath and walk in shower, separate toilet, ( we have never had that before in a hotel room!) plenty of space in beautiful wooden wardrobes for clothes. Balconies overlooking the beautiful garden or towards the Lake. Very well sound proofed also, we were unaware of anyone once in our room. |The food! WOW!! I am at a bit of a loss to know how to be eloquent enough to give the meals the credit they deserve. We were not served one dish we did not enjoy in the 11 days we were there. They were of the highest quality using only the best ingredients. The variety of dishes for breakfast and dinner were so plentiful it made selection difficult. The cheese! Oh man, the cheese!! It would give the cheese counter in Waitrose a run for its money!!|All staff were absolutely lovely, not one was grumpy or dismissive, happy to help in every way and seemed to put themselves out to assure the perfect holiday. |I really could go on and on about The Salzburgerhof but don’t want to bore you all. |We have stayed in some fabulous hotels in many countries over the years but we have often had a ‘wee’ gripe about one aspect, maybe the room or balcony was too small or food disappointing or the menu not changing or staff awkward etc, etc but we can honestly say,|The Salzburgerhof Hotel has it all, the full package, beautiful hotel, glorious garden, amazing Spa, great rooms, welcoming staff and exceptional food with extensive wine list. What more could you possibly wish for?!

We Recently returned from a two week holiday at the Salzburgerhof a beautiful hotel with a lovely dining room, public rooms, garden area and pool area the food was superb and the all the staff were excellent the stand out stars for us were Stella who was our main waitress during our stay she was excellent with a great sense of humour and Eleana who looked after our room nothing was to much trouble it was also nice to meet the owner Gisela who is now in hers 90s but still enjoys talking to the guests. If we could offer any tips for anyone considering staying at the hotel it would be if having a quite room is important you should consider booking a garden view room and should you have any issues with your stay speak to Bettina who is one of the directors she is excellent and very customer focused. Also Zell am see is a very nice resort with a large lake which you can walk around in about 2 1/2 hours you can also get a train to Salzburg.

We stayed 28/06-05/07. Hotel Salzburgerhof was the most beautiful hotel we have ever visited. The service was amazing, a special shout-out to Seydo - he was always so welcoming, helpful and kind. The gardens are beautifully looked after. The room we were in had the most incredible views of the mountains. The turn down service in the evening was a lovely surprise. The food was exceptional, we loved that the menu changed every night and was so full of flavour and freshness. This hotel feels extremely special, and we don't often want to return to places - but Hotel Salzburgerhof is the exception. It 100% worth the money! Thank you to all of the team. Ellen & Callum
