Housed in a former monastery, the hotel offers a unique atmosphere with beautiful architecture that blends colonial elements with contemporary touches. The property is spacious, with elegant courtyards and well-maintained surroundings. The overall ambiance is peaceful and relaxing, making it a perfect base for exploring Arequipa’s historic center. While some areas show signs of age, the hotel generally offers good value for its price, offering a comfortable stay with a distinctive historical feel. ||LOCATION:The hotel is situated in a great spot, just a short walk away from Arequipa's main square and other key attractions like the Santa Catalina Monastery and the Yanahuara District. The location is ideal for those who want to explore the city on foot, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and cultural sites. While it’s centrally located, the area can get busy, so be prepared for occasional street noise, particularly during the daytime.||DINE + DRINK: The breakfast was a very sad affair and certainly has a lot of room to improve!||ROOM: We stayed in Room 411, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: Sweet view of the legendary volcanoes at a distance; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM:Good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good quality toiletries||FACILITIES: No Gym or pool on site.||SERVICE: Friendly staff that cared for all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home and well taken care of. ||HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good! Small Smart TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages

I was very disappointed. Rooms are just about OK. Nothing to boast about. The breakfast was in a cold room with very simple choices and the manager would bug me to give a great review every single morning. This is not what i would expect of this level of hotel.

This hotel was amazing! Everyone was so nice. Larry carried our bags up was so accommodating. David, River, Blanca and Pamela were great as well. The beds were comfortable and the room was so clean. I will definitely be staying here again. Can’t wait to get back.

4* Hotel “San Agustín Posada Monasterio Arequipa”, Peru.|The hotel is in the center of Arequipa, near the Cathedral. The hotel looks quite nice. But in fact, as we found out, there are thieves in it. My wife and I stayed at this hotel from November 4 to 5, 2024 and were robbed.|In front of the door to the hotel reception there is a small courtyard, which is surrounded by a lattice wall with a gate.|The door to this courtyard is usually locked and can only be opened by a hotel employee who takes a call from people coming or going and sees who is passing through the door.|In the morning of November 5, my wife and I visited the monastery of of Santa Catalina de Siena across the street. Back at the hotel, we were waiting for the car that was supposed to take us to the airport. When we entered the courtyard, I saw a man with a brown backpack sitting on a bench.|We were sitting at a table a few meters from the front door. My black backpack was near the leg of the table at which we were sitting. I kept an eye on my backpack the whole time.|A few minutes later, a strange woman came up to my wife and asked her something incomprehensible.|Then the woman came up to me and started talking, getting my attention. We told her that we didn’t speak Spanish. Then the woman said a few words to the employee who was responsible for opening the doors.|The door opened and I saw the man with a brown backpack on his back quickly walk out of the gate.|A minute later, I realized that my backpack was missing.|The hotel has a video camera that tracks any movement through the door.|We asked the hotel manager to show us the video from the moment we entered the hotel courtyard.|The video clearly shows us entering the door with our black backpack, and a few minutes later, a man with a brown backpack on his back and our black backpack in front walked out through the open door. The strange woman left the hotel right after him. This robbery took a few minutes and obviously was carried out by a professional team, including a hotel employee who opened the door twice for the scammer and the unknown woman to let them in and out of the hotel. No one from the hotel expressed regret or even apologized for the fact that we were robbed in their hotel.|This hotel now has a very bad reputation, and we do not recommend staying there.

This hotel was part of our Treasures of Peru Tour and have to say was the worst we stayed in so far on our trip.|First impression was that the building was beautiful but once shown to our room it was a huge disappointment.|Small and basic, almost like a hostel.|Staff were not as friendly and welcoming as we had encountered at our other stays which I have to say have been outstanding.|The biggest issue we had was the safe in the room which initially didn't work so we were given a yellow key attached to our room key.|Our biggest mistake was handing the room key into Reception when we went on our city tour as we were to later find money missing from what we thought was a "safe"place in our room.|The person who took the money was pretty clever taking money from four different currencies we had, totalling £150 !! ( hoping that we wouldn't notice??)|The hotel were not interested when we realised this had happened and|have brushed it under the carpet.|They claim that they have looked at security footage from outside the hotel but this was clearly an inside job.|This will not spoil our last few days as we have had a truly amazing time.|All I can say is if you do need to stay here, do not use the safe and keep all monies with you.

The hotel is in an excellent location, across from Santa Catalina Monastery. Beautiful stonework throughout the ground floor of the hotel. The room I was in had a balcony with an excellent view of the Misty Volcano. Hotel staff were very nice and attentive. Special thanks to Pamela and Larry.
